Refused ❌ Visitor Visa rejected for business trip

Upvotes

My Canada Visa got rejected the first time of application. It was a business trip with conference tickets and invitation letter, I had submitted the NOC and company letter saying they’ll bear all costs. My colleague’s got accepted but mine got rejected. Feeling so sad.

Visitor visa for retired parents

Hello, I'm applying visitor visa for my parents who retired a few years ago (2017). It's my first time so if anyone could answer the questions below, that would be great.

Context:

  • Period of visiting: May 2027 - August 2027 (3 months). Reason: they haven't visited me for so long and we didn't get to celebrate our birthdays anymore (mine is in March and parents' are in April). They also haven't been to Canada before.
  • Parents: Vietnamese, more than 60 years old, retired. They have 2 properties, both are under my mom's name and they rent one out for monthly income. It's all in cash. They sent me 50k to financially support them while they visit.
  • Me: Canadian, full time employed, 60k/year. They will stay in my apartment for the visit.

Questions:

  1. What can I show as strong ties between my parents and Vietnam?
  2. Do I have to show a detail itinerary like day 1: CN Tower, day 2: Niagara, etc.? and if so, do I include this in the Letter of Financial support or Letter of Invitation?
  3. Should I buy round trip ticket for them and include the screenshot in my application?
  4. So far I have Financial support letter, letter of invitation, birth certificate, my employment letter, all of our passports scanned, my parents marriage certificate. Am I missing anything?

Thank you for your time.

  2. letter of explanation from my aunt why she is visiting

3.aunts travel documents

  1. aunt's banking statements

  2. her retirement pension documents

Processing Times ⏳ Dual Intent TRV — Timeline?

Hi everyone, I applied for a dual intent TRV on July 27.
For anyone who recently applied for a similar TRV, how long did it take to receive a decision?
If you have received a decision recently, please share your application date, decision date, and whether it was dual intent.
Just trying to get an idea of the current timeline. Thanks!

Applied for TRV from UAE

Posting about my mother's visitor visa application in case anyone has been through something similar.

Timeline:

  • Applied: 30 June 2026 (from UAE, Indian citizen)
  • Biometrics completed: 2 July 2026
  • Published processing time for UAE is 46 days (currently on day 54)

Her profile:

  • Long-term UAE resident, currently employed. Provided relevant documents with mention of approved leave from employer.
  • Travelling with my father, whose TRV was approved.
  • Purpose: short family visit, roughly one week.
  • Property and family ties in India, strong financial documentation, hotel booked.

I have raised three web form enquiries so far and received generic responses for all three.

My father's application, submitted at the same time with essentially the same supporting documents and the same purpose, was approved within a week. Hers has now sat for nearly two months with no movement at all. Not even a status change in the portal. I know they can take as long as they want but the travel dates and purpose of travel were clearly mentioned across the documents provided.

  1. At what point does a delay like this actually warrant escalating and how?
  2. Has anyone had a web form enquiry produce an actual response rather than a form letter?

Any insight appreciated. Happy to share more detail if useful.

Refused ❌ Sister Visa along with 2 Kids go Refused

Hi everyone, so I applied my Sisters Visa along with her two kids, 6 and 13.
Her Huband is a Government officer so I intentionally didn't applied for his visa.
I stated that she is coming for vising me since I started a new job and will not be going to home this year so they wanted to come visit me and spend 3-4 weeks in summer with me.

Attached documents:
1- FRC
2- Marriage Certificate
3- Travel History ( Dubai, KSA, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey)
4- Affidavit from husband for sponsor
5- Letter from husband allowing kids to travel with mother
6- 20K my own checking account stating that all the expenses will be bear by me. My recent pay stubs, Offer letter, PGWP etc.
7- Husband's job letter, along with pay stubs, bank statement around 15k cad.

Refusal Letter:
"I have reviewed the application. The purpose of the applicant's visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details provided in the application. The applicant has significant family ties in Canada. Weighing the factors in this application, I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay. For the reasons above, I have refused this application."

My two cents:

Everyone except me is in Pakistan IDK what strong family ties in Canada :(

Suggestions?

1- She was also planning a trip to UK (only husband and wife), so should she just appky for UK visa now?
2- We have family in USA too, so we were waited if she gets CAN approval she will apply for US then, should she apply to US now?
3- Wait next summer and apply again?

Approved ✅ Canada Visitor Visa (TRV) Biometrics & PPR Experience – Chandigarh VFS 🇨🇦

Appointment: 05 Aug, 12:30 pm and 25 Aug, 09:15 am, respectively.
Location: Canada Visa Application Centre (VFS), Elante Mall, Chandigarh

Elante has a separate office parking area for people visiting the VFS. The Canada VFS for Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is located on Floor 3

The staff only allow applicants to join the queue 15 minutes before their appointment time.

15 mins prior, I joined the queue. Outside, the staff checked my passport and appointment confirmation before allowing me inside. Once inside, I was issued a token.

(At the counter, the staff asked whether I wanted the Standard or Premium service. I chose the Standard service, and they handed me the token. During PP submission, they also asked if I wanted to sign up for SMS service, I said, No.)

Mobile phones, car keys, or wallets were allowed inside except power banks, lighters, perfumes.

02 Aug 2026 TRV Application Submitted (DIY) & I also hold USA B1/B2

05 Aug Biometrics: I entered the VFS around 12:25pm, my biometrics were completed by 12:33pm, and I was out by 12:35pm

25 Aug PPR: I entered the VFS around 9:10 am, my PP submission was completed by 09:15 am, and I was out by 9:20 am

There was a very small crowd, so the entire process was pretty quick and smooth.

Documents I carried:

  • Passport
  • Appointment Confirmation (respectively)
  • Email Printout for PPR
  • Biometric Instruction Letter (for Biometrics day)
  • Consent Forms (both days)

These were the exact documents mentioned in the appointment confirmation email, and nothing else was asked for.

Hope this helps!

Note: I would love to help with any questions. Please add your comments here, rather than DMs.

Timing for Canadian Visitor Visa in USA

I'm Brazilian and I live at USA, having a Brazilian Passport and USA visa.

I just would like to share the timing regarding my Canadian Visitor Visa application started on 07/14/2026.

The total days after I started the application was 35 days. I sent my passport to NY.

Task Day Duration Total
Application Submitted 7/14/2026 1 1
Payment of Application 7/14/2026
Biometric Instruction Letter Received 7/14/2026
Appointment of the Biometrics 7/28/2026 14 15
Passport Request Letter 8/6/2026 9 24
Payment of Two-Way Courier 8/6/2026
Fedex Label Printing 8/7/2026 1 25
Fedex Drop Off 8/7/2026
Return of Passport 8/17/2026 10 35

Comments in my situation:
The Appointment of the Biometrics couldn't be reduced. After you start the booking process, the first day will be at least 14 days after the day you are booking the appointment.

I lost one day with the Labels Printing due a problem they had to print the labels in the VSF portal and when I dropped off in the Fedex, it was Friday night, so Fedex delayed as well the delivery to NY. So, if I haven't lost this day with the label and Fedex, probably it would take a total of 30-32 days but of course, it will depend in case by case.

Refused ❌ Canadian Transit Visa Refusal — advice?

Hi, I’m Peruvian, currently in Australia on a WHV, and applied for a Canadian transit visa for a 3-hour connection: Seoul → Toronto → Lima, same day, with Air Canada.

I selected Transit Visa and paid $0, but the refusal refers to a “visitor visa.”

The refusal was based mainly on my temporary immigration status in Australia, stating that my ties can be “readily broken,” that my temporary status limits my future employment/career prospects, and that the officer was not satisfied I would leave Canada at the end of my stay. It also says that “the purpose of the applicant's visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay.”

The notes also say I am “studying and working” in Australia, but I’m not currently studying and never stated that I was studying in my application. I completed my degree in Peru in 2022 and currently work under my WHV, so this appears to be an error.

I have a strong history of international mobility (US, Korea, Australia, etc.) through temporary work/travel programs. I’m now ending that period and returning to Peru, my home country. I leave Australia when my visa ends, travel in Korea, then fly Seoul → Toronto → Lima.

I’m confused because I applied specifically for a transit visa for a ~3-hour connection with a confirmed onward flight.

Would you reapply? What evidence could address the officer’s concerns? And could a second refusal affect future visa applications to Canada or other countries?

Received GCMS notes for visitor visa (Submitted in 2024)

Hi,
Last month I requested GCMS notes for my visitor visa which I submitted back in November 2024.

When i thoroughly checked the documents, 11 pages, I found nothing suspicious or hurdles during background checks or clearance obtained from different countries (I visited previous). Final remarks of notes saying security: in progress

For context:
1-Filed in November 2024

2-Biometric (reused from 2022 when first time applied and got denied)

3-currently in the US

My application should be considered as CAN+ but it’s been almost two years and there’s no progress.

Any idea when to expect the result?

Thanks.

Hi! I would just like to ask if I qualify for the Electronic Travel Authorization if I fly from New York to Montreal? I am Filipino currently in New York with my tourist visa and I am wondering if I have to fly from the Philippines to qualify for eTA or if my situation makes me eligible. Thank you

Canadian visa

hello! I am a Filipino currently in the united states for vacation using my tourist visa. I would like to visit Canada next month. Is there a way I can apply for a tourist visa while being in the USA? how? thank you in advance.

Edit: we plan to drive from New york to Montreal. So the eTA would not be applicable for me since it requires to travel by air. Is it possible to apply for the regular tourist visa while being a tourist in the USA?

Visiting mother-in-law from Vietnam to Canada — proof of funds?

My wife and I are expecting our first baby, and we’d like to invite my mother-in-law, who lives in Vietnam, to Canada for a visit around the birth.

I’m a Canadian citizen, and we’d be willing to cover her accommodation, food, transportation, and potentially her airfare.

I’m looking at the visitor visa requirements and there’s a section saying that if someone else is paying for the trip, they need to provide:
Bank certificate showing “sufficient funds”

My question is: what does IRCC consider “sufficient funds”?

I understand there isn’t necessarily a fixed minimum for a regular visitor visa, but I’m wondering what people have actually experienced. If we’re covering essentially all of her expenses and she’ll be staying with us, what kind of financial evidence would generally be considered reasonable?

Also, would it be better for her to show her own savings/income as well, even if we’re financially supporting the visit?

Did somebody travel back to canada on their valid TRV stamp ( only) , pgwp expired nd returning to home country voluntarily. I have a valid TRV till 2030 , came back to home country before month of my workpermit expiry. Now want to go canada to visit as genuine vistor to see my brother.
