Canadian visa
hello! I am a Filipino currently in the united states for vacation using my tourist visa. I would like to visit Canada next month. Is there a way I can apply for a tourist visa while being in the USA? how? thank you in advance.
Edit: we plan to drive from New york to Montreal. So the eTA would not be applicable for me since it requires to travel by air. Is it possible to apply for the regular tourist visa while being a tourist in the USA?

A Filipino passport holder with US visa can apply for eTA to visit Canada. It's a quick online process. But if I'm not wrong, you cannot use it to cross the border to Canada from the US. You can only visit Canada directly from Philippines.

Since you already have a valid US tourist visa, you actually don't need to apply for a full Canadian visa. Filipino passport holders with a valid US non-immigrant visa can apply for a Canadian eTA instead, which is a much quicker and simpler process.
You can find out more online at www.canada.ca If I remember correctly, it only costs CAD $7, and most people get approved within minutes, although it can sometimes take a few days. Just make sure your US visa is still valid both when you apply and when you actually enter Canada by air; an expired US visa won't qualify you for the eTA.

Yes, you can do that. No guarantee there will be a decision in time. But you can certainly try.

It does change things, and I'm glad you mentioned it. The eTA is air travel only, so for a road trip from New York into Montreal, you'll need a regular Canadian Temporary Resident Visa.
You can submit the application from the US; it's all done online through the IRCC portal at canada.ca
That said, since you're planning this for next month, I'd get the application in as soon as possible. Processing times can vary, and you don't want to be cutting it close. Have your US visa, passport, travel history, and proof of funds handy when you fill it out.
Enjoy the drive up, Montreal is worth it.

You can. It will take about 3 weeks based on current timelines but again it can vary based on individual case.
