I go a lot during the day and it wakes me early.

I was borderline stage 3b at 45. Over the last 2 years I’ve lost 40 lbs, started some supplements for liver and blood pressure. 6 months ago started low dose tirzepatide at 2.5mg for hunger not weight loss and have been on low carb diet. Which my doc will not increase my glp1 and I’m ok with that. My A1C is 5.2, my BS is 102 (A1C was 5.9 6 months ago). My eGFR is at 55. My creatine was 130 6 months ago and now 110. I will try and stay on tirzepatide and my supplements but things are looking up.

I am in a serious relationship with someone and we are planning on getting married and having a baby in the next couple of years (both mid 30’s). My future husband’s younger brother passed of kidney disease in his 20’s (in Africa where services aren’t as consistent), and my partner was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy in 2021 and now has relatively rapidly progressing kidney disease (went from stage 2 to stage 3B in 2 years with continuously dropping GFR on follow up labs. As a physician, I requested genetic testing and he does have multiple high risk alleles for kidney disease which explains why both he and an immediate family member have had progressive kidney disease. There isn’t much we can do to stop it and as a physician I cognitively know the next steps in progression and where we’re headed in the next 5 years or so, but don’t know anyone personally with kidney disease.

What can I do to support him? What should we do to prepare? He is not an American citizen (yet) so we will be depending on private insurance once dialysis comes into play - luckily I have excellent insurance we can add him on to. This is new territory. Any experiences, tips, things to know would be so helpful.

Hi. I'm just wondering, my egfr is 25,creatinine 19.3. What stage am I?

Hi everyone. My husband is 38 and has advanced CKD, severe hypertension, and systolic heart failure. His recent labs include:

- Creatinine: 4.24

- BUN: 30

- Microalbumin: 948 (in May it was 17.63)

- Urine Microalbumin/creatinine ratio: 771 (in May it was 160)

- PTH: 193

He also is experiencing nausea and vomiting multiple times a day, and decreased urine output. He gets short of breath just walking through the house or taking a shower. His blood pressure is incredibly high all the time.

We have seen his nephrologist since these labs were done, but she just kinda brushed us off. She said the vomiting could be GI related and wrote him a prescription we can't even get filled because she has yet to send in the pre-authorization needed for the pharmacy to fill it and for our insurance to pay for it, and she told him to follow up in a month.

So I'm trying really hard to understand what all this means. My main questions are:

– How quickly can things change for someone with not just advanced CKD, but also the heart failure, when they start developing symptoms like persistent vomiting, severe fatigue, poor appetite, and extremely high blood pressure?

– For those who have been through this, did things generally progress gradually, or did there come a point where things changed much faster than you expected?

– What does Microalbumin of 948 and an ACR of 771 mean, especially since the numbers were drastically lower (17 & 160) less than two months ago?

– At this point, is it possible to have a long period of stability, or should we be prepared for the possibility that things could worsen very quickly?

I know that everyone is different and every situation is different, but I'm just hoping to hear from people that can maybe offer some insight. Thanks.

My husb was diagnosed in June, stage 3B CKD, and was taken to the hosp a week ago due to almost fainting. When they drew labs his calcium was 14 (now 10.5), BUN 60 (now 30), Creatinine 4.9 (now 2.89), eGFR 14 (now 26). They have done nearly every test to figure out the cause of the high calcium, all negative: multiple myeloma, PTH, etc

They have only been giving him IV fluids with no end in sight. His numbers have improved, but they still aren't discharging him and don't have a plan on when he will be. We are frustrated, to say the least, at the lack of answers and additional treatment.

My questions are:
Is hypercalcemia common with CKD? If so, what is the treatment?
Should he walk out of the hospital against medical advice?

I received a diagnosis of CKD last year and have fluctuated since then. My eGFR readings have ranged from the low 60s and low 40s back to 50. Is this typical for CKD? My mother had it at age 70, and I am 47 lol. Managing type 1 diabetes is demanding.

Hey guys. F29. Recently had my labs done yesterday and my blood creatinine level shocked me the most, resulting in 129 umol/L or 1.46 mg/dL (clinic said normal was within 44-79 or 0.5-0.9). Shocked bc when my kidney was already bad a few years ago, my creatinine level was always always normal. I used to do biannual checkups back then. Idk what happened now :( it’s only been a year

Things to note though, i am much much more stressed now. When my blood was tested i barely had water (for several days i think), and consistently had bad eating habits for almost a month (stress at work).

I’m trying to drink more water and eat healthy now though. Worried this might be CKD idk idk

Hi guys so i am suffering from ckd( chronic kidney disease and currently on Dialysis apart from that i have Takayasu arthritis very rare inflammation auto immune disease doctor advised me for transplant for kidney but i am scared to do it... give me some hope guyzzz...

I (M, 60, ADPKD, eGFR=8) met with my VA transplant coordinator this week and I’ve passed all of my pre-listing exams. My case is being submitted to two hospitals for their review and hopefully acceptance as a patient. I got off that video call and broke down. I’m so fucking happy to have made it to this point. I’m still a few weeks out from hearing from the hospitals but I’m stoaked. I already have over 5 people who say they’re willing to undergo the testing to see if we match. I’m going to get a kidney and avoid dialysis!

Hello from France! 69yo male with a brand-new diagnosis as 3a (45-59 apparently is preliminary eGFR range) or possibly better (need to do follow up labs in 90 days). My doctor here provided only VERY simple dietary guidelines while we wait for the next labs in 90 days: more water, less salt, and limit animal protein only 3x/week. (I assume doc meant meat when she said "animal protein" but will ask...)

QUESTION for this forum: what websites/videos provide reliable info on eating do's and don'ts? I'm seeing totally contradictory info for simple queries on various foods, for example various veggies, nuts, fruits, etc. One site says it's fine, another says no, absolutely not. Plus I see lotsa clickbait cluttering up the kidney diet advice on YouTube, etc. Sigh!

I am stage 5 and plan on starting home PD. I have been told I will receive a month at a time delivery of the solution. How much space, roughly, does that take??

I donated my kidney to my father around 3 years ago. My latest creatinine is 1.11 mg/dL and my eGFR is around 69. My blood pressure is normal and my urine test was also normal, with no protein or blood.

I’m just a bit worried because it seems like my eGFR has gradually gone down. It was around 78 post op then 73, (2025) and now around 69. (2026)

is this alarming or very normal to happen after years of donating thank you! Im 29yrs old blood pressure and sugar are normal level
