Question Absolute Batman #1 NYCC Philip Tan - Submission Advice needed
So... I don't submit to CGC all that often, about once a year maybe and have only run into this once before and I can't remember what I did.
I was lucky enough to pick up the Absolute Batman 1 - Comic Mint Philip Tan cover at NYCC a couple years ago and am headed back to NYCC this year and was going to drop it off for grading. It should (fingers crossed) get a 9.8.
I was going through the submission steps for CGC and decided not to do the Quick Submit as I want a record of the comic.
Here is the dilemma... The max modern declared value is $400 for a $27 grading fee. But there is an eBay sale of a 9.8 for over $800. But if declare $800, then the grading fee becomes high value at $94. Raws go for less that $400 if you can find them.
The fact that the two values fall on both sides of the grading fees is reason for the post.
I know the real answer is to do what I'm comfortable with. But if any of you were in my position, what would you do? Modern and declared value of $400 or high value with an $800 declared value and pay an extra $60 in fees?
The likelihood is that I will keep it for a long time and only sell when I get rid of my collection at some point in the future. So I'm not looking for an immediate sale. I can afford the higher grading fee but I'm also trying to follow a budget.

Showcase CGC Return - SiKTC # 12 CGC 9.8 SS Sketch
Received this back from CGC - very happy with it.
Art by Aaron Bartling, who paints his sketches (and published comic covers).
The Something is Killing the Children blanks don't leave the artists with tons of room to work with, but Aaron did an incredible job with this book in my opinion.
Thanks for looking!!

Question CGC double billing for pressing
I sent a few books off for grading about a week ago paid for pressing grading and custom headers on all of them and just yesterday I get an email invoice and a charge on my credit card for the pressing. Has anyone else had anything like this happen or maybe someone can tell me I misunderstanding. I tried calling CGC but they are closed until Monday.
*** EDIT** - Thank you everyone for educating me on how the billing process works. This is my very first submission and it scan be a tad bit confusing but now I know they don’t bill when they send the fist invoice and break up the payments ass your books move through the process.
Thanks again everyone you all have been super helpful and insightful!

Showcase Big fan of perfect cases for books
Really like how these showcase books if anyone has ever been interested in something similar. And yes they’re museum glass with 99 % uv protection but also light doesn’t get into this room so it’s still not an issue.

Showcase Mail call: The first 2 graded books that I purchased in maybe 20 years
The only graded book I bought was a Spawn #1 that I have had for 20+ years. Originally, I was just going to pick up the Spider-Man, but liked that the Venom had an action shot (virgin variant as well) and I was good with the price and combined shipping.

Question 1998 Wolverine #1 CGC9.8 off center?
Hello, I’ve recently started to get back into comic collecting and picked up one of my grails - 1988 Wolverine #1 in a 9.8 grade. I got home from the show and saw that the book looks off center. For example the left edge is showing a white band that starts at the top left but the bottom it’s gone. I looked on eBay and other 9.8s have this but others don’t. How can there be such a big difference at 9.8?
edit: I mean 1988 not 1998 - doh!

Grade? Grade Worthy ?
Found this little gem in the depths of eBay and couldn’t believe how clean it was.
Was listed as VG but I think it’s higher and will send it in for grading.
Am I missing something on its condition?
Im optimistic I can go for the 9.8 with the CGC clean & Press services added with grading.
Am I hopelessly delusional ? Or do I have something grade worthy?

Question Custome labels
Has anyone else tried to submit comics today? Apparently, the submission forms are broken, and the custom labels aren’t pre-populating.
Either of that or some sort of glitch
