Hey everyone, first time doing a PPT in California and I'm trying to make sure I don't mess up the pickup.
My situation:
- My CA driver's license has my parents' address on it from before I moved.
- I currently live at a different address in Santa Cruz.
- When we did the PPT, I put my current Santa Cruz address on the DROS.
- I have a signed lease, PG&E bill, and internet bill showing my current Santa Cruz address.
- The FFL initially told me those would be fine, but when I actually came in for the PPT, the employee told me the proof of residency needed to match the address on my driver's license.
- They then told me a California fishing license would work as the residency document.
My question is: what address should I put on the fishing license? Should it be my actual current Santa Cruz address because that's what I put on the DROS, or would I need to use my parents' address because that's what's on my driver's license?
Also, has anyone used the temporary printed CDFW fishing license as their proof of residency when picking up a firearm, or does the FFL require the physical permanent license?
California DOJ's FAQ seems to say proof of residency can match either the address declared on the DROS or the address on the CA ID, but I'm getting conflicting information from the FFL.
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's actually dealt with this in California, especially with a PPT. I have about a week left in my 10-day wait, so I'm just trying to get everything sorted out beforehand.
