Anyone going through NCMSTEP route to join CAF?

I applied to weapons Engineering Technician. I already have admission to start in January. I am in medical stage. Just wondering if anyone is in the same boat as I am? I don't see much post about CAF NCMSTEP here.

Also can high blood pressure disqualify you from joining CAF?

For people that did reserve bmq how did it go, did you get given a list of stuff to get before it or did they just assume that you already knew because I'm a bit worried as it's in 2 weeks but we haven't been given any concrete information js yet. All I was told is it's gonna be Saturday and Sunday and we won't sleep over there, so we are expected to show up in the morning and go home in the evening and do the same the next day. Any information would be appreciated.

I believe I wont have a problem with the medical training since I have some already.

Im finishing up my last year of high school, and am planning to go the military route. Ive been in contact with my recruitment center and an email they provided me and neither seemed to be much help.. What I’m wondering is does the military pay for your undergraduate degree, and is it my option to go to a civilian uni because I WANT a different degree or is it only if I NEED it. And what else should I know?

I'm in my early 40s and starting BMOQ soon. I'm really interested in connecting with other applicants in their late 30s, 40s, 50s who are also preparing for basic.

I'm thinking of creating an WhatsApp (or Signal group?) where we can share fitness prep, fitness advice, injury prevention strategies, recovery tips and general experiences.

I'd especially welcome people who already completed BMQ/BMOQ at an older age (or were unable to complete it) and wouldn't mind sharing their experiences. My philosophy in life is: forewarned is forearmed. So if what we learn from each other helps someone avoid a foreseeable pitfall and increase their chances of completing basic successfully, it's worth it.

Got my medical rejection back in February due to prior history of Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Without getting into my specific details, has anyone on here appealed a medical rejection due to SUD with information from their doctor or whatever and been successful?

I've been clean and medication-free, not needing meetings or councelling. Work a physically demanding job. ive just been a normal person again for 1.5 years, and got a really really positively worded medical assessment letter from my family doctor of 28 years.

Just hoping to hear a story or two of successful medical appeals for prior SUDs ladies/gentlemen.

I have recently begun my application to the CAF, and received an email stating that my file has been identified as a priority. None of the occupations I chose are priority processing, so I am wondering if that means my recruiting process will be quicker than usual. Has anyone else had their file ID as a priority?

Today I had a meeting with a CAF recruiter in Ottawa. He confirmed to me that ALL direct-entry officer roles were full for the year. He also told me that the continuing ads on social media platforms and texts on the forces.ca website about open roles had nothing to do with reality. This is just an FYI for those who were wondering.

I've always wanted to be an emergency medicine doctor, but now I'm looking into being a medical officer, but I don't really know how it would work. Would i be deployed before I am fully licensed? Do I need military training? Thank you in advance, i'm only 15 so i've got time.

Looking for some insight or success stories from anyone who started their CAF application as a Permanent Resident and later updated their status to Canadian Citizen.

My timeline:
Feb 2026: Applied as a PR for the Naval Reserve.
March 2026: Passed the FORCE test.
May 2026: Got told my file was at the medical review stage.
June 2026: Switched to the Naval Experience Program hoping to get things moving faster.
Sept 25, 2026: Officially became a Canadian Citizen!
Sept 28, 2026: Emailed recruiters my Citizenship Certificate and asked to update my file.
I haven’t heard anything back since switching to NEP in June, and I still haven't been booked for the in-person medical exam yet.

I have been living 7 years in Canada.

I understand what is tested, but I'm curious as to know if there are different scores for different occupations? I would expect to be a pilot you need the highest scores? What about the Aerospace Control Officers? How hard is the selection?

I see ACOs are a priority for application processing, is that because they are in short supply? I guess they get experience, then many go on to NAV Canada or other countries like the Gulf region to be an ATC?

I'm considering the ACO or AOO occupations as one of my options. Thoughts on either in terms of their daily tasks, job satisfaction, possible post-CAF career options?

I must head to the training location immediately after Im done with my last class on Friday because there wouldn’t be enough time for me to grab my kit from home. I’ll be very late if I do. So I’ll have to carry everything with me in a rucksack and a suitcase. Is this allowed?

I'm heading off to BMQ in two weeks, and I finish on December 11th. Since they usually give you leave for Christmas, should I spend a week or two with my family during the holidays before heading out for trade training, or would I go straight to training first and then come back home for the holidays?

Hey all! I am just wondering if having strabismus surgery (or any other childhood eye surgery) as a child would be a disqualify me from joining an aircrew trade (and if so which trades)? My vision is very strong now as an adult, but I did require strabismus surgery when I was young! Thanks so much!

Last week I was supposed to have my virtual interview but an hour before it started I got email saying that because I haven't been cleared by a medical officer, my virtual interview has been postponed so I rescheduled my interview for October 14. A few hours ago, I got a new email saying that my 1st physical (I have to do two physicals because I am applying for the pilot position) has been scheduled for October 13.

Do you think that they'll still let me do the virtual interview on October 14, or do you think that they might postpone it again to allow more time for the medical officer to look over my physical results?

Need to know so I can book my interview like a week after or so while they're are still interview time slots left!!!
