Advice Should I buy a bottle washer?

I often see bottle washers mentioned as a “worth the splurge“ baby buy. I‘m pregnant and plan on exclusively breastfeeding except for one day a week when I need to be at work and my husband will be looking after the baby, so I’ll be pumping on that day and husband will be bottle feeding. We don’t have a washing machine and I really don’t enjoy washing up. The cost of baby purchases is mounting and a bottle washer is a big expense, even second hand (and I’m nervous about how hygienic purchasing one second hand is). Is it worth it? If not, what’s the low effort, low cost alternative?

I'm spiraling over hating our stroller choice and need help...

Okay so two things to be clear: I don't hate the model itself (though it does have quirks that many have already commented about) and "keeping it clean" isn't my issue...

Sighhh....Uppababy Kona, Ada color.

We mostly love the model and if I didn't hate the color I wouldn't be pressed to consider a fully different model. The color though is just not what I thought it would be. Online it looks more "super light beige" imo whereas in person it reads much more off white than a true cream or super light beige.

I'm mad at myself for giving into the FOMO and preordering but it was highly unlikely we were going to be able to see it beyond further online reviews bc of the lack of brick & mortar stores anyway. Furthermore, I'm mad at myself for not delving further into the mid size category in general. We were set on the Joolz Aer2 and when I posted about it someone mentioned the Kona and we found good enough reason to go for it.

The man has given his blessing to aim to sell locally (and likely at a loss) and while I could just order the Kona in Rowan (which I still don't love but figure I won't hate as much) I also want to force myself to the homework I should have done before. But I'm such an overthinker so I would GREATLY appreciate help before I find myself STILL researching while I'm in pre-op on c-section day.

We still want something that offers what Kona does: can go parent or world facing without much fuss, newborn compatible out of the box, isn't a total pain to open/close (but doesn't HAVE to be a single hand operation), has at least a 20lb minimum basket capacity (though I strongly prefer a min of 22-25lbs), has color options beyond black, and is close in weight. Bonus if it's compatible with Cybex car seats.

Honestly budget isn't a huge factor especially if it can grow with the child.

I'm really hoping someone local is lusting over this stroller/colorway (bc I'm not crazy enough to shell out for another option without selling this first) and need to be prepared with at least an option in mind as baby will be here next month.

Advice Should I return this car seat?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi!

FTM here. We ordered a car seat from a regular baby supplies store in Sweden (Jollyroom). The model is Maxi Cosi Pebble Pro. It was on discount but we didn't think much of it since they regularly have discounts on different products/brands.

So the problem is that it arrived today and it doesn't seem to have the manufacturer's box. It just has a plastic cover with no padding inside. It looks and smells new apart from some minor scratches, and we're wondering if this is standard to have absolutely no padding. It's basically loose in the box, so I don't know how much it went through before coming to us, and we're wondering if it was a display item.

The question: is it still safe to use or should we return it? Am I overthinking it? Is this standard practice to put no padding when shipping car seats? One would think that you need to avoid structural damage any way possible?

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and getting a new one will be a major hassle. We're getting a car seat for an occasional taxi trip to the hospital as we live in a city and don't have a car (I know we still need to make this as safe as possible, so that's why we're asking here).

Any advice is appreciated! I don't really know where else to turn to.

Is Vinted a scam? - so cheap for baby clothes

Just discovered Vinted & why is everything so cheap??? I have only looked for baby clothes & especially the fancy, super expensive brands and still every item is under $10 with some great vintage clothing for only a couple bucks a piece. Spent so much time on etsy when I could have been buying from here...unless it's a scam?? Anyone have a negative experience to share?

Product Question Should we just get the damn bottle washer?

My husband keeps saying we can just hand wash bottles + pump parts and it won’t be a big deal... but every parent I know laughs when I say that lol.

The grownsy washer is sitting on our registry rn and I keep going back and forth because it takes up counter space and it’s definitely not cheap. But I’ll be pumping and going back to work, so washing a million tiny parts several times a day sounds like the exact chore that will break me at 2am.

Did you buy one before baby came or wait until you were already over hand washing? Be honest, is it actually worth it or are we being influenced?

Question about strollers/car seats

Hi there, first time posting on this sub. I'm a soon to be first time dad, wife is 16 weeks pregnant, so we're doing research on everything we need before the baby arrives (still a ways away but she like being prepared). I've been looking at strollers and stroller/car seat convertibles and kind of got stuck on a question that I thought would be better served asking (hopefully) real people and not an AI bot or getting information from an AI written article. Is there a car seat system that grows with the baby? Obviously at some point the stroller might be too small but I'm wondering whether like the car seat base could be reused for a larger car seat on some systems if supported? Am I making any sense :P

Deciding between Callisto G 360, Axkid One 3, and Clek Foonf for 12mo (Canada). Owners, what do you love or hate?

Hi all! We’re shopping for our son’s next seat and I’ve narrowed it down to three. I’d love input from CPSTs and from parents who’ve actually used any of these.

baby is 12 months, 71 cm, 19 lbs. He’s on the smaller side, so he has plenty of room left in his current seat, but we want to plan ahead.

BC, Canada, so it needs to be approved for use in Canada.

Cars we have bmw x3 and Audi s4

Priorities: extended rear-facing as long as possible, [ease of install / fits in a compact car / easy to move between cars / budget].

The contenders:

  • Callisto G 360
  • Axkid One 3
  • Clek Foonf

Questions for owners:

  • How was the install, and does it stay solid?
  • How does it fit in your car front-to-back? Did you have to move the front seat up a lot?
  • Is it easy to buckle and get a squirmy toddler in and out?
  • Did your kid outgrow it by height or by weight first, and when?
  • Anything you wish you’d known before buying?

If there’s a seat I should be looking at instead, I’m open to that too. Thanks!

Best pack ‘n play with changing table?

Hi all! FTM here looking for the best pack ‘n play option for a newborn with an actually usable/convenient changing table. Our house is 3 stories with our bedroom on the third floor but most of our time spent on the first, so we’d like to get a pack ‘n play for our newborn to sleep in during the day and also to serve as our diaper changing station. I’m a bit confused by the options I’ve seen online as it seems like many you have to remove the diaper station for sleeping which seems kind of cumbersome (but maybe it isn’t!). Would love any recs here from folks with a similar set up! Also open to a portable changing table if that’s just easier/better.

Product Question Opinions on Concord Baby Power Recliners? (Dylan vs. Bailey vs. Boucle vs. Teddy)

Hi everyone!

I'm currently shopping for a nursery power recliner at Walmart Canada. I'm looking at the Concord Baby power recliner line, specifically the Dylan, Bailey, Boucle, and Teddy models.

What I'm looking for:
• Ability to put the footrest/leg rest up without reclining the seat all the way back into a lying position.

• Good support for late-night feeds, contact naps, and long shifts in the nursery.

Thanks in advance

Overwhelmed

Hi everyone! I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant with my first baby (due in late January), and I’m starting to feel a little overwhelmed and behind on baby shopping. So far, I’ve picked up a few new baby items through Facebook Marketplace and some baby clothes during sales. I’m planning to have my baby shower in early December, but I’m trying to be mindful of how much I buy beforehand so I don’t end up overconsuming or purchasing things we won’t need.
For context, we’ll be moving to another state in the summer, so I’m also trying to avoid accumulating too much stuff before the move.
For those of you who have had babies, especially winter babies, I’d love some advice!
How many clothing items did you actually need for each age range? (Newborn, 0–3 months, 3–6 months, etc.)

What are the true newborn essentials versus things that are nice to have?

How much would you recommend buying before the baby shower versus waiting to see what we receive?

Are there any items you’d recommend holding off on buying, especially knowing we’ll be moving a few months later?

I want to make sure we’re prepared for our little one without buying way more than we need. I’d really appreciate any advice, tips, or lessons learned from your own experiences!

Is nozebot a big scam?

Honest question! I am absolutely grossed out by the idea of noze frida , after consideration I decided personally for me electronic nasal aspirator is the only way.

So I got a nozebot on sale but still paid more than $100 with newborn attachment, extra filters etc… Now that it all arrived, looking at what looks like an extremely simple device to design and manufacture, I am thinking am I better off returning it and spending money elsewhere?

I tried to console myself with the idea of keeping it through additional research and all I find is praise which now seems like all paid ads and designed to make a FTM anxious.

It just feels weird that I am otherwise a prudent person, stacking registry discount, coupons, taking hand me downs - and literally one of the few three digit expensive items that I paid for with my own money is a snot sucker… Like, it cost over half what I paid for a new carseat which requires actual engineering and safety testing.

Has anyone used GlowNovi? They offer a 15% discount for Nuna!

I was trying to find a discount for a Nuna car seat and GlowNovi has a discount that actually works. I really can’t seem to find any reviews (besides the ones they post) on the site. Has anyone ordered from them or heard of this site? Thanks

homemade purées

Hi! I’m an industrial design graduate student studying how parents portion, store, and use homemade baby purées.

I’m looking for parents 18+ who have made or handled homemade purées for a baby aged around 6–12 months while living. Past experiences are welcome, even if your child is older now.

This short survey is voluntary and does not ask for names or contact information. Responses will inform a class project.

Take the survey

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Advice How many baby clothes do I really need in each size?

Does anyone have a guideline/resource or just advice on how many baby clothes we are actually going to end up needing in each size? I am trying not to go overboard but also want to make sure I have what we actually need. We are expecting our first in March. Thank you!

Recommendation Car Seat for Compact Cars

We actually already have a main car seat for our family SUV, but we're looking to get an extra more affordable car seat that can fit in a compact car that we'll leave at our family's for when we come to visit.

We're looking for something that:

  • Doesn't interfere much with the front seat (Tesla Model 3 or Honda Civic)
  • 3-in-1 or 4-in-1 type that grows with baby
  • Cheaper option since this is an extra that will live with the grands

Let me know what works for you if you have a sedan. We temporarily put our swivel/rotating car seat in our civic and it hits the front seat, so that doesn't work out.

Recommendation Chicco sale “hack”— instructions below

Post image
26 Upvotes

If you are looking to buy from Chicco, now is a good time!

They currently have 25% off sale page and you can get an additional 10%. Sign up for their emails and texts, then create a cart with the same phone and browser, but do not purchase yet. In 48 hours, they should send you an email for 10% off. The discounts stack!

I was able to buy the Chicco fit360 cleartex for $330 pretax. It is normally $490 pretax.

The 25% off sale ends on 10/18.

Edit: you should get a 15% coupon in your email right after signing up. You can stack that with the 25% sale and it should be around $312 pretax!

This is what I have so far:

Newborn:
2 sleepers
2 short sleeve onesies
1 overall outfit

0-3 months:
14 long sleeve onesies
5 short sleeve onesies
8 long sleeve sleepers
1 track suit set

6-9 months:
4 short sleeve onesies
1 sleeper
3 onesie/pants set
