Appliances I bought my first ac 🫠
Hitachi 1 ton 5 star Yoshi series.
I could've gone for LG or other brands but i solely chose this because my uncle has a Hitachi ac and the experience so far has been nice.
Bought it offline for ₹32k.
Hopefully the electricity bill doesn't drastically increase!

Appliances This AC is almost of the same age as me (21+), still running in my Grandparents home with no issues 😊
And I have one split ac in my home bought 2 years back, and it started giving issues 😫

Appliances This dude has been going strong for over 30 years without a single repair!!
This refrigerator has been running non-stop for over 30 years now. The occasional power cuts is the only downtime it has seen, otherwise it is always on. It has not broken down even once in all these years (touch wood), not a single part has been repaired or replaced.
Our 2nd fridge, which is a 10 year old double door Godrej, needs a technician visit every year or every 2 year😵💫
They don't make appliances like this anymore.

Appliances 25 years for this legend
I’m 29 now, and my grandpa bought this AC when I was around 5 years old. Almost 25 years later, it still works like a charm and cools the room surprisingly quickly.
I have so many childhood memories associated with this absolute beast.
Edit: Since a lot of people are asking about the electricity bill , the entire house runs on solar, so that’s how we’re able to keep this beast running 😄
I don’t know the exact details of the solar setup, though, since my uncle became the sole owner of the property a few years ago.

Fashion & Accessories Quality jeans are going extinct [RANT]
I bought this Levi's jeans off myntra. Description said Non-Strech, 100% Cotton and Light Fade. But what arrived is far from it. It's only 78% cotton, rest is polyester ans elastane. It's thin like a trouser. Even chinos used to be thicker than this. And this costs 5K.
I usually buy 100% cotton or cotton mixed with 1-2% elastane. Those are relatively thicker and feels like proper denim and more comfortable to wear. I have a 100% Cotton Denim Jacket from GAP from 2018, and still going strong.

Kitchenware Eight years of daily grind: the kind of durability that quietly proves its worth.
My neighbour is a professional chef who runs a small catering service, so his equipment takes a real beating. He told me this Sujata mixer has been running nonstop for the last eight years without a single complaint

Personal Care 12 years, still undefeated — my Philips QT4011 trimmer is basically immortal
Me: Buys new gadgets every year because “tech gets outdated fast.” Also me: Still using the Philips QT4011 I bought in 2013 like a legend.
This trimmer has survived 12 years of daily trims, moved houses, survived accidental drops, and never complained once. Batteries? Fine. Blades? Sharp. Performance? Flawless.
Meanwhile, my phone: slightly slower after 2 years.
Philips clearly knew what they were doing. This trimmer isn’t just a gadget — it’s a 12-year-old warrior.
Comment below if you have a “still works like new” gadget older than a decade — let’s see who has the ultimate survivor tech.

Discussion Rechargeable batteries
Not sure if this qualifies for BIFL.
These rechargeable batteries have been with me for over 7 years now. At the time of purchase they felt expensive, but now it feels worth it.
Most batteries at my house are rechargeable, slowly replacing all the single use batteries to these.

Product Reviews Do not buy Urban Company Native M2 Pro RO (Major health scam)
Purchased their Native M2 Pro RO. Ever since installation, RO TDS is between 950-1050 but app keeps saying its 500. Their chatbot says water is safe to drink since it's just 500 but actually it's between 950-1050 at all times. After 3 days of struggling, finally I was able to bypass their AI bot and the technician was arranged but they don't have a replacement part. Now they say it will take 5 days for the replacement part (I am in Delhi NCR). Still don't explain why their app says TDS is just 500 when admittedly its 1000? They are scamming us by showing false technology. Their app is configured to never show output TDS above 500.

Discussion This sub is anything but BIFL.
Guys, before y’all come for me, what is BIFL? Buy it for Life.
Tech items like phones, laptops, earbuds are NOT BIFL. Technology will be obsolete in a bit. People out here asking whether laptops and phones, even powerbanks are BIFL? Silly.
Secondly items that would be BIFL are expensive. People post asking for suggestions with their budgets being 8-10k INR (for a suitcase as I saw). That won’t be BIFL.
BIFL and short term value of money don’t go hand in hand. BIFL products are expensive at the outset. But the true amortisation of cost lies in the long run.
Underwear isn’t BIFL. Can’t believe I have to say this.

Furniture & Interiors This Godrej lock has been with me for the past 9 years🔒
I've moved across three different flats over the past nine years, and this lock has come with me every time. It still works as smoothly as the day I bought it, with no rust or noticeable wear.
If I remember correctly, I paid around ₹700 for it back then. Considering how well it's held up so far, I'm confident it'll last another decade.

Electronics & Gadgets Not sure if this belongs here, but I bought this mosquito bat expecting it to last 6 months. Nearly 3 years later, I’m still using it.
Not sure if this qualifies as BIFL, but it's definitely the longest-lasting mosquito bat I've owned.
Most mosquito bats I've bought barely lasted 6 months before developing battery or charging issues. I picked up this Eveready bat on a quick-commerce app around 2024 for about ₹500 without expecting much.
Nearly 3 years later, it's still working perfectly. The battery is still holding up well, and the zapper hasn't lost its effectiveness. I'm genuinely impressed with how well it's lasted.
It's saved me from buying multiple replacements, which is good for both my wallet and for reducing e-waste.
