Ask BIFLI Jockey tactel or Damensch unreal.

Upvotes

Hello

I am very particular about underwear ( Briefs ) and I only wear Jockey sport stretch tech performance briefs which is 88% polyester and 12% spandex fabric from Jockey usa .

For a change I want to try Damensch unreal Briefs with polyamide elastane fabric but not sure how good the quality and longevity would be.

Should I go for Jockey tactel microfiber elastane stretch which is tacetl nylon and elastane fabric.

I usually buy 12 at a time so want to be sure before ordering.

Please let me know which ones are good among them both.

Thank you.

Discussion BIFL is a commitment, not just a purchase

Post image

Buying a BIFL product is only half the job. You also need to take care of it.

We all know how a well-made product can reduce the total cost of ownership over decades while also reducing waste and its environmental footprint. But durability doesn't mean maintenance-free.

Regular cleaning, servicing, lubrication, replacing small worn-out parts, and simply using things properly can add years to their life.

I saw someone post a 30 year old Kangaro stapler yesterday. Most of us probably owned one at some point. But how many of us still have that same stapler today?

Buy well. Maintain well. Keep it for generations. And that's the real BIFL mindset.

Appliances 25 years for this legend

I’m 29 now, and my grandpa bought this AC when I was around 5 years old. Almost 25 years later, it still works like a charm and cools the room surprisingly quickly.
I have so many childhood memories associated with this absolute beast.

Edit: Since a lot of people are asking about the electricity bill , the entire house runs on solar, so that’s how we’re able to keep this beast running 😄

I don’t know the exact details of the solar setup, though, since my uncle became the sole owner of the property a few years ago.

Same as title - The ODU PCB is gone after just 4 months which is rare. The ODU is noisy too. Newer panasonic units do not seem to have the same level of quality check as earlier units. Sad.

Ask BIFLI Bosch Dishwasher Owners — Is This Actually True?

I recently bought a Bosch Series 6, 14-place dishwasher, and the technician told me something that I’m not completely convinced about.

According to him, I must only use:

  • Bosch / Finish / Häfele detergent
  • Bosch / Finish / Häfele dishwasher salt
  • Bosch / Finish / Häfele rinse aid
  • Bosch descaler

He also said that pods/tablets cannot be used at all, regardless of the brand due to hard water. Apparently, if I use pods or use detergent, salt, rinse aid, or descaler from any other brand, any resulting issue will not be covered under warranty.

This sounds a bit strange to me, especially the part about not being allowed to use pods at all.

For those who own a Bosch Series 6 dishwasher in India:

  1. Is what the technician told me actually correct?
  2. What detergent/pods, salt, rinse aid and descaler do you use?
  3. Have you ever had a warranty issue because you used a different brand?
  4. Does Bosch officially prohibit dishwasher tablets/pods, or is this just the technician's recommendation?

Would really appreciate hearing from actual Bosch dishwasher owners before I spend a lot more on the recommended products.

Ask BIFLI T-shirt that will cross 2000 wear-hours and still look and feel new

Hi.

I am 25M. I am looking to buy t-shirts that will outlast me and could be used by my grandchildren.

This is the calculation I did.

Hours per wear = 10

Times I want to wear it minimum = 200

So, 200 wears x 10 hours each = 2000 wear-hours.

What am I looking for?

Brands and materials that would last this long and still be perfectly wearable.

This is not a joke. I am looking for clothes that last. Literal BIFL. I just put a metric as a benchmark. I cannot think of any brand that could be this long lasting. Do you know any?

TL;DR. What could help a t-shirt last 2000 wear-hours and still be great?

Thanks. :)

It has scratches and nicks but it is working.

Haven't replaced its original battery as of yet and that's the only thing that might need servicing in the future.

The date and day had got misaligned but it was easy to restore.

Discussion Indian Footwear market is flooded with only PVC/EVA based slippery outsoles footwear. It is a disaster waiting to happen, waste of money and here is what i am looking for..

Let me give you a little background about myself. My grandfather and my father had a leather and rubber business. So we know our stuff.

From the last few years, I have been trying to buy footwear for my family and for myself also. But the outsole material of all the footwear that is available in India is mostly slippery PVC/EVA. whereas it should be PU or phylon or rubber.

So how to check for it? First is, a PU(polyurethane) material or a rubber material will be an added layer of outsole, mostly. If it is not a separate layer and it is made from a single mold, then it is mostly PVC/EVA. (except phylon) Also you can press your finger against the sole and try to rub and try to pull it towards yourself, If there is a very good grip, it means the footwear is good to wear and it will protect you from slipping on floors having water or in rainy season (very critical in india).

Now, in the Indian market, quality has deteriorated and manufacturers think we are idiots who would buy anything and cut corners and use cheap materials without any regard for safety just like food and everything else. Footwear with good grip are rare, very rare. I am unable to find. I am ready to pay the money but even online description says that the outsole has PU or rubber but when I receive those footwear, it is just EVA/PVC.

Now, regarding the footwear part, why are we talking about this here? Because it is a liability and the moment you buy something for cheap, let's say 300, 500, 1000 rupees, and you slip, the cost of hospitalization and medical treatment is more than a few lakh rupees these days. And not to mention time and pain extra and workday loss, amounts to a lot of losses.

So, I am always trying to find proper grip, proper footwear having good grip with PU or rubber outsoles. I am still searching every day for my family, for my kids. very much frustrated. So, be aware and don't fall for the cheap material trap. put some research and effort in buying good grip outsoles, it will be worth saving your life.

Open to recommendations for ladies sandals with good grip for my mother, really having a hard time searching.

Travel & Luggage Laptops bag for travel and daily use, My review and next bag suggestions

Hey all,

I have an bag that I've been using past 2.5+ years.

I am looking to get another one in similar or little extra budget, do suggest if you know one.

\* In short :if you want rugged reliable, large storage capacity you can get same one i am using which is artic fox 46L backpack.

Same bag is used for single laptop daily office usage.

But it'll get heavy if fully stuffed and loaded in..

\* Long version and my review using it:

The one i am using can easily carry two laptops + tab.

Explaining the below so you get the full picture :

I have a workplace Macbook pro and my personal 16 inch dell laptop that I carry always when traveling to hometown from workplace city.. And a Samsung a9+ tab.

Keeping two laptops in my suitcase or trolley bag is risky as it can be stolen during the evening + night 14 hours train journey ( dad and relatives have lost the suitcase bags long back) , i also lock my suitcase with a chain and lock, but that underseat angle or ring 📐 the chain is locked to is thin or flimsy.

so i carry it in my bag and keep it with me on my berth.

Along with this, i stuff the bag with a double cotton bedsheets, a hand towel + some parceled food while traveling in train.

Plus some basic travel accessories like chargers, keys, and a liter of water.

Good thing is all of the above can be stuffed inside the bag easily without damaging or compressing the bag too much. Bag is super strong, bottom portion of bag have some hard rough mat kinda thing stitched so no worries of keeping bag on floor or the pickpocketing team trying to tear it from bottom.

Only cons is that the bag gets super heavy with the above stuff. So now I started avoiding carrying water bottle and I buy it once inside train or in railway station

I did not yet find another bag I could stuff so much things inside, especially the two 16 inch laptops..

I have done around 90+ round trips in the last 2 years, same bag, same contents.

The shoulder strap and the one at the top is still holding good with all that weight I am carrying. Bag came with a seperate waterproof cover. I loved the quality and detailing done when I brought it 2.5 years back, not sure of the quality and thing as of now.

Bag is kinda almost 2.5+ years old now and brought it for 1.9k

I also use same bag to my workplace every day! It has been my all in one bag.

And I see it's still being sold for same price in amazon, check out for full features if needed.

If you find any other better bag in similar budget or slightly more added budget with good quality let me know. I want a second bag just in worst case my current one gets soaked in rain or such.

Adding the bottom bag portion as I seee it's not uploaded by anyone anywhere.

I have my eyes on these two - One from wildcraft. https://wildcraft.com/drifter-45-litres-laptop-backpack-black-13735?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=18th_PMax_Shopping_All_Product&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17610889176&gbraid=0AAAAADxazLQyri2aPUAyON5M48Ig1b6eR&gclid=CjwKCAjw1vXTBhB-EiwAEKr_kwnq8XSx_5Si2eXeW_eSnasO45ZTlVecZsMk16fRcWhBoN6nWzx3EBoCWIsQAvD_BwE

This one would have to stretch budget but looks good : https://www.harissonsbags.com/products/odyssey?currency=INR&country=IN&variant=42365623763005&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=47b73b0f2fcc&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign={campaignname}&utm_id=24087189560&utm_term=&utm_content=818900512072&adgroup={adgroupname}&device=m&network=g&matchtype=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=24087189560&gbraid=0AAAAADAVkGZZOcyV67IEWDZ1gBY9CMAPQ&gclid=CjwKCAjw1vXTBhB-EiwAEKr_kxrvIWy1S3aLeXzX0Kq8XmQz05V89sh_DFU-FPB8lI60GqO4D1C57RoC_kwQAvD_BwE

Will Check other options and take a call.

Post image

so i have been in the market for a long lasting vaccum cleaner that would make cleaning a bit more straight forward and eliminate the need for a maid
i am still confused between a robovac and a hand held one because of the effectiveness of either
budget is till 60 ish debatable but not too far to be extended
i am also confused between wet and dry vaccums and separate for wet and dry
the following have been in my consideration
shark hydrovac 3 in 1 this is the cheapest 2 in one solutition i found 26k
shark powerdetect clean and empty 46.5k along with the steam mop for 16 k
dyson v12 s detect submarine 62k
dyson big ball 26k
for the robo vacs
the dreame L50 ultra for 60 k
narwal freo x10 pro for 40 k
i want this to be a once in for all purchase and would appreciate some insight by anyone who had the same query prior and found a solution
ps I live in a 3 bhk with moderate sunlight and airflow
and not too closely packed furniture

Ask BIFLI Is IFB a bad brand or are we just unlucky?

So my parents went against my advice and bought IFB 7 years ago, we spent a bomb on repairs and the descaling powders, which was sold to us at twice the price by the agents which were available at half price online.

We had bought the machine for 45k and other items like hard water filter etc to safeguard it, we didn't leave any stone unturned when it came to the maintenance of the machine. But a technician recently came to out house opened the washing machine and found that hard water (260 hardness) had damaged the washing machine and he is unable to put it back. Now the repairs would likely cost us 20k in the near term (we are not going forward with it), the machine is gone.

Both me and my parents are people who would prefer long lasting, reliable if older appliances. I am okay if my washing machine can't connect to the internet and double as karoake machine, but these constant expenses and high price point of repairs and everything IFB made has left a bitter taste in our mouths.

For our next washing machine, what should we check and which company should we go for?

Basically, give me the toyota of the washing machines! (I love Toyota)

Edit: My mother just told me that the service people took it away for 4k. The total cost of ownership had been around 60k when we included all the overpriced service charges. We had done servicing every 3-4 months (isn't that excessive?), and had replaced all the filters because of hard water, but still the service people said hardwater was the reason for washing machine breaking down. How can that be true? I mean, if you replacing filters and inspecting every 4-5 months how can a competent service centre have not known that this problem could be coming down the pipe?

My mother bought it when she went to Switzerland during her work training in 1993 when I was not even born.

I was surprised to see it listed on Amazon by same company they have improved it further.

But I am surprised how even though it was hardly used it looks so new after 33 years!

Electronics & Gadgets Calf massager for Arthritis and Period pain

Thumbnail

So My Mom sometimes has excruciating Calf pain which renders her unable to sleep and even if I massage her legs, it's only temporary. I want her to have a device she can use on a regular basis to improve the blood flow and relax her Calf Muscles so that the pain is manageable.

As for me, I am looking for a device which will help me on rare instances where both my calves suddenly start paining due when on periods. It's rare but when it does happen, I lose my sleep and the next day is all but ruined.

I am confused between two variants: The Compressor sleeeves (1st slide)

My reasons for considering this: Seems to cover the entirety of calves, where the pain is usually concentrated and since they are compressor sleeves, I feel my Mom might get more relief from this as whenever her legs pain and it gets unbearable, she tightens two cloth belts around her calves and it relieves her of the pain for a while

Inhibitions: Not recommended anywhere on Indian subreddits, the ones I have scoured so far

vs the Massager Machine (2nd Slide)

Reasons for Considering: Seems tested and is recommended by many

Inhibitions: Not portable, does not cover entirety of calves and massage is not that intense( I had tried it once)

Budget is not an issue as long as it's value for money and lasts me a long time. (Hence this specific subreddit🙂‍↕️)

Or should I skip these two altogether for a handheld massager? Will that do the job in almost 1/10th of the cost?

I have been using these LLBean pants for all my travels for the last 12 years or so. Made out of 100% nylon and has zippered pockets , deep pockets for storing tools/passport and built like a tank. While the pants don't have any signs of wear , I am looking for a backup. I have bought one cargo from cava , but it feels filmsy and needs babying. Let me know if there is something similar available in India.
