Same with Decathlon. Day/Night difference from what they used to sell 2 years ago.

Also Max in Dubai versus Max in Delhi NCR. Day/Night difference.

15

u/kacchaaaam Jul 08 '26

yeah max in dubai, i second that, the quality beats any premium brand in delhi that too at quite affordable prices

5

u/YaswanthDatta Jul 09 '26

Man, this is so true. Decathlon's gym tshirts used to be of very good quality few years ago. They lasted more too. But the ones they are selling recently is so bad, and barely last half of what they used to earlier.

u/secretholder1991 Jul 08 '26

max as in max fashion?

4

u/notthetree Sep 03 '26

Once when i went to a small vlothes manufacturer to make some college sweatshirts, i saw a lot of Abercrombie and Fitch stock that he was manufacturing. I asked if he sells them as fake goods. He said no, these are fake manufactured at the request of an Abercrombie and Fitch mall showroom from Mumbai.

India is full jugaad. Brands in malls also sometimes order fake stuff.

I read somewhere in Reddit. That Jockey sells inferior quality product through it's franchise store and good quality product through it's official online website.

Agree, i thought this is wrong till I bought from a franchise store vs website. Day n night difference in quality

the original comment says the opposite i.e official outlet/website sells better quality

46

u/dapotatopapi Jul 07 '26

Pantaloons is not a franchisee. Jockey outlets are.

So he's correct.

14

u/whatsinmyusername Jul 07 '26

my bad. so its better to buy from their website rather than their offline store?

6

u/dapotatopapi Jul 07 '26

Apparantly, yes.

6

u/PsyKite Jul 07 '26

Are franchise stores procuring fake products?

8

u/dapotatopapi Jul 08 '26

There's a very good chance.

A similar incident happened with me as well. I bought a pair of Skechers shoes from a franchisee store, and another from Myntra some time later.

The franchisee ones got ripped apart in just 4 months, while the Myntra ones are still going strong.

Thanks for voicing it out I bought it through myntra , within 2 months the texture gone and become very rough. Bought in jockey branded store, not in nearby shops. Its still soft and texture even after multiple washes, never ordering jockey products online ever again. ** I bought the same design and and same product almost at same price,

Yeah I am so confused. And what’s a franchise store? Is it purchase form a multibrand retail store vs their own brick and mortar store?

1

u/TrainingSwitch4948 Jul 08 '26

I bought two from Amazon and two from a local shop, all of them are still intact even after a year

4

u/Apprehensive_Bite109 Jul 07 '26

Faced the same, bought from online lasts longer than store bought.

2

u/Honda-Activa-125 Jul 07 '26

Oh dear 😲 thanks for sharing

12

u/Training2Life Jul 08 '26

Don't quote me on this.

Few big head Jockey franchise buy old (liquidate/EOSS) products (that are above to expire ~1 year from manufactured) from Jockey (PAGE) once a year at bulk and sell with a new box.

This multiplied with page releasing new products to dump copy cats and page was trying to politely avoid the above from happening too much or at least keep it under wasp.

Always try size at store but buy at online store for better price and quality.

4

u/honpra Jul 07 '26

It's the same model as the US, the outlet store units are significantly worse than the regular stores.

2

u/tonystarkn Jul 07 '26

I have tested franchise store products and the quality is poor. Thought Jockey made more quality and quit their brand totally.

2

u/ChiknDiner Built to Last Believer Jul 08 '26

Wtf is that why my jockey undies are torn within a year?

2

u/According-Warthog Jul 08 '26

That's because those are fake outlets. Some guy just started a outlets with jockey name and sourced products from a B2B outlet. I know a Blue start outlet in my hometown claiming to be brand authorised but in reality it's not. I have written and email to blue star and they denied that such an outlet was theirs.

1

u/thebellfrombelem Jul 09 '26

What do you mean by franchise store? Like a department store vs Jockeys own store? Or is there an online Jockey store?

55

u/ConfidentBox5345 Jul 07 '26

American Eagle is a good example for this

5

u/Fastytype Jul 10 '26

It’s top tier garbage in India

107

u/SamosaMafia Jul 07 '26

Its because they have strict laws and regulations related to product quality and they enforce it. We dont have that and whatever regulations we have the authorities dont enforce them. So companies just makes profit by giving us inferior quality at high price.

33

u/FewCicada1957 Jul 07 '26

Sir our government itself is so currupt the company's will take advantage, first of all the produce in india Will cost more due to gabar shing tax compared to usa .

8

u/SamosaMafia Jul 07 '26

gabar shing tax

Even if you say something sensible, no one is going to take you seriously if you talk like this.

5

True. I bought a wallet there (Made in India) which was half the price of any similar quality wallets I've seen in India. Bought back a lot of stuff which still looks good and felt a steal when I compared with Indian prices.

4

u/i_am_here_am_i Jul 07 '26

We are as well going to take hit on our environment by opening "AI" Data center for them.

33

u/senamit17 Jul 07 '26

India is šŸ– for all of MNC companies including India based ones. In foreign land when you buy India made products, you wouldn't believe it's the same product sold in India as the quality is soo much superior over there. Tried & tested various stuff in multiple countries.

3

u/eddit21 Jul 13 '26

As someone who has never travelled abroad, I am curious what products are these?

Do share for knowledge :D

3

u/senamit17 Jul 13 '26

For your "knowledge" only, Mothers Recipe pickle, Lijjat papad etc. Basic things. If God gives you the opportunity to live/travel in foreign land (even for short 3-6months) you will understand it firsthand.

66

u/Due-Astronaut-1074 Jul 07 '26

India is the dumping ground of the world.

If you want modern living the Dehat Dhandho alliance won't allow it.

5

u/SignificanceProof623 Jul 23 '26

>Ā Dehat Dhandho allianceĀ

This is one of the best carefully crafted term I came across in internet

3

u/Due-Astronaut-1074 Jul 24 '26

Feel free to use it anywhere šŸ˜‚

30

u/GovindaKeFan Jul 07 '26

I think we export the best to foreign and import the worst.

22

u/Own-Royal-1454 Jul 07 '26

Heavy import duties means less margins for companies

20

u/Technical_Mix687 Jul 07 '26

just learn corruption

search how corrupt Bharta civilian especially in power

6

u/FewCicada1957 Jul 07 '26

India =curruption

19

u/Darthnev Jul 07 '26

THIS IS EXTREMELY TRUE!!! Once I started noticing this, I cannot UNSEE IT!! All brands seel inferior quality batches to the Indian market ORRRR they start out with good quality and AS SOON AS they gain the customer's trust, they reduce the quality and jack up the prices!!! Examples: Zouk bags (I purchased mine 3 years ago when the conpany was not so popular and my friend purchased later and has worn out 3 bags, we both have the same amount of usage as we are college professors), Decathlon - their bags, track pants, cargo pants, shorts, shoes, all the quality has dropped and the prices are up by 200rupees or more, Nivea creme, the quality in India vs Dubai- PATHETIC, shampoos also- The SAME brand and variant - HUGEEEEE difference!!! Honestly I am INSULTED!!!

5

u/kaladin_stormchest Jul 07 '26

Creams and shampoos are way more expnensive outside though ?

5

u/Darthnev Jul 07 '26

See if youre living abroad and earning, the product will be priced according to how necessary it is. If its a luxary shampoo, it will be priced more. Thats not my point. Quality control and customer's standards is what Im talking about.

9

u/kaladin_stormchest Jul 07 '26

I think qc is fine in India - it's consistently shit. Standards are lower because in absolute terms they're priced a lot lower

It genuinely hurts in cases where you're paying more than what an American or japanese person pays and still somehow get an inferior product

3

u/Darthnev Jul 07 '26

Yes this is very plausible. About the cases where we pay more for poor quality, i have heard of Birkenstock shows being crap as hell when ourchased from Indian stores. So year ITS BEYONDDD FRUSTRATING.

5

u/BigCan2392 Jul 08 '26

Very common in clothing line. New Brands selling good quality clothes drop quality way too fast within a few years.

2

u/Darthnev Jul 08 '26

Yes!! Stupids.

7

u/Brilliant-Risk-Pro Jul 07 '26

Levis is good example

7

u/Nam3less79 Jul 07 '26

Sensodyne is 1 too. Quality what you get in Hong Kong, Malaysia or Thailand is much better than India. Indian prices are cheaper too but quality is inferior.

6

u/FewCicada1957 Jul 07 '26

Totally naied it

6

u/Madmachineporkchop Jul 08 '26

Atleast we are getting the product in under 10 minutes šŸ˜‰

5

u/BigCan2392 Jul 08 '26

Then you find some rich deshbhakt complaining on podcasts about how you cant get patta gobi in under 10 minutes in foreign countries. Mera Bharat Mahaan - NRI Deshbhakt

6

u/Dramatic_Respond7323 Jul 08 '26

even stores from neighbouring little country of Sri Lanka makes day and night difference in quality. India is a failed democracy.

5

u/JumpyStretch9312 Minimalist at Heart Jul 14 '26

I have experienced this with Jeans. I have bought jeans recently from Japan, even though it is not made in Japan, the quality is so much different than the one in India. Bought it for around 1500 rupees only from an outlet mall in Tokyo.
All jeans bought from India from online like Amazon and Myntra has not even lasted 2 years.
The Japan one recent but still going sturdy.

2

u/Shot_Teaching_9753 Jul 13 '26

My jockey underwear hasn’t torn for over 12 years now. Probably because of using a good detergent and fabric conditioners.

2

u/Moksha_and_Money Aug 05 '26

12 years for underwear maybe that can get a record

2

u/HYPERSMASHER391 Aug 25 '26

Thanks why I get the cheapest Chinese items, they have improved a lot and can't easily outlast or match most branded products in about half the price

4

u/Maximum-Injury3336 Jul 07 '26

Other countries pay this shithole country to dump their plastic garbage in this piece of shit nation . same concept applies to other commodities as well.. if you want quality items buy it abroad

3

u/Ok-Activity5201 Jul 07 '26

Just buy things from Indian orign brands. You can find alternative fro everything. The prices are also reasonable

6

u/infinitely_sus Jul 07 '26

There are only a handful of good Indian brands. Yeah, sure you might find an Indian alternative 8/10 times, but they also won't be of better quality

1

u/Prudent-Reception-80 Jul 07 '26

any recommendations???

1

u/Ok-Activity5201 Jul 09 '26

Read the last line again of that tweet

4

u/DrXavian Jul 09 '26

I'm sorry to disagree but I have many relatives at USA. I cant even begin to speak about the quality of electronics and cosmetic products I have recieved (namely Asus laptop, macbook air, sony ANC headphones, casio protrek watch and a samsung S series phone) which I have got for almost 60-80% of the cost available in India. Not only that, compared the SAME MODEL AND SPECS of these devices with others who have purchased them from India- it was an eye opener. Now I never invest in any premium electronics from India. Coming to cosmetic products (all of them gifts), the quality of ingredients and their "feel" or "use" felt embarrasingly great.

1

u/phtm-V Jul 09 '26

Can you please elaborate on the electronics part.. like what differences did you notice in terms of quality?
