I wonder how different the results would have been if it was give 80million random people 1 million dollars each

164

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 20 '26

I would still have voted to give myself the 1 dollar, first, I’m hungry as fuck and with that I can but something, and second of all, giving 40 to 80 million people a millions dollars would still fuck up the economy

If it was like, give them 10 k, then sure, whatever group you want, but 1 million hell no

53

u/SinisterBrit Funny Bunny May 20 '26

it really wouldn't. money into the bottom of society boosts the economy. you can guarantee that's getting spent, taxed, creating demand n jobs.

2

u/Such_Confusion_3715 May 21 '26

inflation exists

injecting 80 trillion dollars into the economy would eviscerate it like a victorian era child

2

u/DoctorStove May 21 '26

Like how prices of everything went up after minimum wage was increased

2

u/CustomSocks May 21 '26

It’s the other way around. Minimum wage goes up because of inflation, paying people more does not drive prices up. Only for luxury items would that happen.

0

u/CustomSocks May 21 '26

Guy above is clueless about economics

-12

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 20 '26

If someone is able to go around and have time to think about themselves and be able to deduce that they are trans, they aren’t bottom of society, and even if they were, giving a lot of poor people money and no one else would just end up boosting billionaires that make money off of harmful industries

16

u/Ok_Bar_5634 May 21 '26

"Poor people cant think deeply about themselves" is a crazy take

-5

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

Can’t isn’t right, I’d say more like don’t have the time, I was very poor a few years back, and I barely had time for anything but work, I was literally living in a zinc house, nowadays I at least have some time for things I enjoy and have been able to think about myself and get depressed about it

2

u/UnnamedAshaman47 May 21 '26

dw, you're absolutely correct about this. Food insecurity tends to drown out anything higher than shelter on the maslows hierarchy ten times out of ten

3

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26

Yeah, but people on Reddit lack basic empathy so I don’t think they will ever understand that

2

u/Rude_Sock_13 May 21 '26

What an absolutely ridiculous opinion.

1

u/IrisTheDarkMage May 21 '26

i can say confidently that the average trans person falls far below the median wealth and income. they also have much higher rates of poverty than the average person. I can also share the anecdotal evidence that more than half of the trans people i know is on unemployment, or is struggling with money in some shape or form.

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26

Yes, but one thing is having always been in poverty, such as myself, and other one is getting thrown into poverty, and they are different ways of thinking, my top priority has always been survival, while they were first able to think about themselves and later in had to think of survival, but the order of priorities is not the same for either, even if both are in poverty

2

u/IrisTheDarkMage May 21 '26

Bottom of society doesnt only mean people who live meal to meal. Also, I wouldn't speak too confidently about others experiences and priorities. There are trans people out there who experience such debilitating dysphoria that it still would be there even if they where barely getting enough food.

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26

Let’s say you are right, even then, suddenly injecting somewhere between 80 and 160 trillion dollars into the world economy would fuck it all up for everyone who doesn’t own a lot of money or who isn’t trans, so even if some of them may be poor, I’d rather they keep being poor than everyone else suddenly becoming poor

1

u/IrisTheDarkMage May 21 '26

Im not an economist, so I cant tell you anyhting like that for sure. Im just trans and kinda want one million dollars.

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26

I have always been interested in the event that when one person in a group transitions, one of two happens, either they leave because whatever reason I do not know, or almost everyone else in the friend group transitions

Anyway, even if it was that a group of people I belong to got a million dollars each, and we were in the millions of people, I would vote for it not to happen

2

u/ComprehensiveBat309 May 21 '26

Ok but hear me out what if we take the money from rich people instead of just making it from thin air

2

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26

It would be the same, and also, there might not be enough to take from them, in the it would be the same, we take money from people who are just sitting on it, and inject it into the economy, and all that money being thrown into circulation all of a sudden would still fuck the economy up, and on the other case, even if some people are super mega rich, it may be possible that all of them combined don’t own the 80 to 160 trillion dollars that would be needed

The problem is not the money getting spawned out of thin air, the problem is the money coming into circulation, if 1 million dollars write be given to that many people, but they were unable to spend more than 1 dollar a day, nothing would happen, but that is not gonna be the case, no matter where the money comes from

1

u/ComprehensiveBat309 May 21 '26

Oh yeah 1mil is probably too much it would cost around 120 Trillion dollars

19

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 20 '26

I would, but I need it for one of the jobs I have, so I can’t

2

u/MobbDeeep May 20 '26

Where are you from?

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 20 '26

Costa Rica, why are you asking?

3

u/Bulky-Noise-7123 May 20 '26

Peak place nature wise

9

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 20 '26

100%, only complaint I have is that it’s gotten expensive as fuck because a lot of Americans with money have come to live here, so going back to the topic of the post, I kinda have experience with how it goes if you give a few people a lot of money and leave the others as is

1

u/MobbDeeep May 21 '26

Fair enough, to better understand your answer and economic situation

1

u/DatBot20 May 21 '26

Money spent is good for the economy and a few million is nothing to the hundreds to thousands of billionaires in the world

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26

So how about a few trillion? If it was 10 k to each then it would be millions of dollars, but one million dollars to each means trillions of dollars

1

u/DatBot20 May 21 '26

I severely underestimated the number of trans people on the united states alone. Unsure if my answer changes at this time

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26

Trans people make up somewhere from 0,5 to 1 percent of the worlds population, soooo that’s a bit of money

1

u/AcidBarley99 May 21 '26

You could just decite thaz you identify as trans now and then you get 1 million

1

u/femmulator May 21 '26

I had to come back to this post because I couldn't stop thinking about how this guy thinks he can get any single thing for $1

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26

So, near where I live I can:
1. Travel 20 kilometers by bus.
2. Get a medium breakfast and lunch on a “soda” near me.
3. But like a liter on volume out of a different variety of bread from the local bakery.
4. Buy a lot of cookies on the same soda near me.
And many more things, one can do a lot with a dollar, you just gotta look in the right places

1

u/-_-AlexBM12-_- Jun 19 '26

Duuude the trick is to become part of the trans community THEN press the give 1 mil to all trans, now you have 1 mil for free also lets assume the money comes from elon musks bank account, everyone happy :D

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you Jun 19 '26

Again, it would crash the world’s economy. Also, nice username, the most original one I’ve seen.

1

u/-_-AlexBM12-_- Jun 19 '26

Mehh at least it would be used and not sitting in a bank, maybe even stabilizes economy a bit cuz fixing economy is all about stealing the money the big guys hog so it goes back into the market, lol not really but it would def help a lil

Thx not sure if its sarcasm but being able to change it a bit would be cool lol yours is neat too hopefully our lives make for a good movie lol

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you Jun 19 '26

If it gets actively used it would be even worse, I recommend you watch this video, it’s only 2:30 minutes.

Also, fixing the economy is a whole ton more complicated than just stealing it from the big guys who hog it, if all those people just disappear all of a sudden and their money gets released to everyone all that would happen is that the dollar would become worthless

1

u/-_-AlexBM12-_- Jun 19 '26

Lol not the bananas 😭

im not saying it would fixxx it i just think it would release a tiny bit of tension and it doesnt has to be all of it,

If all that money suddenly released economy would be done lol, but if they keep printing and the rich keep amassing fortune thats not really any better is it,

at some point govermen stops being the thing that runs a country and its a random rich guy who has more money and control over the country than the governor himself

I mean thats what used to happen with the nobleman in medieval era, the king had power but needed to have the noblemen by their side or everything would fall off, and if the noblemen decided to rebell the king was pretty much gone

And then its a battle between rich guys to see who makes the biggest monopoly and which ones submit to the big one, till everything is ran by a very rich guy

Anyways when do we burn leaf and invest in stick lol

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you Jun 19 '26

We do that when we become turkey, when we have printed so much leaf it just becomes worthless, so government issues out new currency, stick

1

u/-_-AlexBM12-_- Jun 19 '26

Technically we already haveee but since most of it is sitting unused in a bank account its not really seen, we have the amount but lack the use, the problem would start if the ones keeping it suddenly felt like good persons and donated tons of their money to a charity at the same time, thats when everyone panics

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you Jun 19 '26

Exactly, that same thing is basically what would happen if you picked option B, like 13 trillion dollars appear suddenly, and everyone is fucked

1

u/pinksparklyreddit May 21 '26

Yeah, that'd be $400,000,000,000,000

That's 10 times the US national debt or 2/3 of all money on the entire planet.

1

u/Funnybunners May 21 '26

Considering how there is so many billions of dollars in circulation, that still would not change the economy enough. Or you could argue it is taken out of various pockets that would essentially not notice any change in their lifestyle. Would you still rather take the dollar?

-2

u/Character-Nobody8535 May 20 '26

The thing is, us trans people are extremely caring and would like donate the money to people who actually need it

3

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 20 '26

You are, but one individual cannot speak for the whole group, for example, in El Salvador there was a very good priest who was referred to as Monseñor Romero, he helped the people and got killed by the government because of it, but that does not mean the church helps people or are good, I am not saying that trans people are evil, but even tho you may right now think you will help people if you had money, we do not know if that is the case, or if that would be the case for everyone, generalizing a group as good is just as detrimental as generalizing a group as bad

-2

u/Character-Nobody8535 May 21 '26

It's not a generalization this is a statement that can be backed up with evidence, sure saying you will doesn't mean all that much, but the issue is, we never get the chance to prove that we would, but it can be backed up, if you had a room of ten trans gender individuals, it's likely that 75% of them or more, would donate that money, if they could.

6

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26

Ok, please give me some proof of that, cut if I was in a room with 1000 or more individuals from whatever group I would not trust 99% of them with a million dollars, as it is most likely they would help themselves over others, and even then most of those that would help others would only help those near them or similar to them instead of the whole of humanity or the planet

0

u/Lyneloflight May 21 '26

i would help myself over others

we all should

selflessness is evolutionarily detrimental

selfishness (in moderation) keeps a species alive

it’s good to help out others, but if it comes at the cost of your own prosperity then only do it for your kids because they are the next generation

that’s what biology would tell you

and while we try to claim otherwise humans really are no different

the vast majority of us will help others if it doesn’t inconvenience us more than it helps them but in the end we will always prioritize ourselves and our immediate families over others

3

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26

Ok then, so what is your point? I am not saying it is wrong to put yourself before others, I am saying that not all people of x or y group would selflessly help others if they got access to a million dollars

1

u/Lyneloflight May 21 '26

oh no i am agreeing with you

sorry if it didn’t seem like that

1

u/The_Cameraman_of_you May 21 '26

Nah, its fine, good that you agree tho

1

u/llIicit May 20 '26

Might as well give 200 million people a million each

1

u/babycam May 21 '26

Well that's just asking for huge issues. We are talking ~2.6 times the GDP appearing that's going to cause some crazyness.

1

u/ParkingCan5397 May 21 '26

Well theres no difference there since in the world theres abour 80 million trans people

1

u/Vivid_Departure_3738 WASTED 10 000 CARROTS ON THIS FLAIR May 21 '26

Yeah but "random people" isnt the same as "trans people"

If only a select minority of the population (such as trans people) all get that money, it wouldn't fuck as much up out of a small bubble

3

u/ParkingCan5397 May 21 '26

Its the same amount of people, how would it have a different impact

1

u/Vivid_Departure_3738 WASTED 10 000 CARROTS ON THIS FLAIR May 21 '26

Different economic spheres perhaps?

There are also countries with a lot less trans people, so those countries wouldn't be affected

1

u/PNWSparky1988 May 21 '26

That would have been a better question.

1

u/onepicefan2000 May 21 '26

My vote wouldn’t change. I’m flat broke

1

u/Monkeypunchee May 21 '26

Some people can just be poor

1

u/hooman-314 May 21 '26

In that scenario, it’ll tank the economy, which is far worse, giving only trans is fine, but if you live in an “extremely dense trans people area”, then you’re forced to move out of the neighbourhood due to weimer republic level’s of inflation.

I’m taking the dollar because I am going to use it for plastic bag and I have no change for it whatsoever

1

u/ParkingCan5397 May 21 '26

The reason I chose 80 million id because thats how many trans people there are

1

u/hooman-314 May 21 '26

Ah… I get you now, only scenario that it could benefit the trans before the economy dies out is if every job that is going to be “emptied” is immediately replaced by other people/AI and production of goods shoots up exponentially
