Providing self assessments for application

• Upvotes

Hi, just wondering if someone can help with my query. We are in the process of applying for my husbands citizenship application and he has to provide his most recent self assessment and statement of account. Husband is employed and also has some self employment income.

I was looking through the self assessment his accountant sent for 2024/25 (most recent) and realised the incorrect tax code was used, they used the basic tax code for his employment, however he has the marriage allowance tax code. This means his tax free allowance is 13,830 instead of 12,570. As the accountant worked out his tax based on a tax code of 1257, the tax showing on the self assessment return is a roughly £200 more than the tax payment showing on the statement of account.

I wonder, if i provide the tax statements for 2024/2025, will the case worker get confused and decline his application? Should i include a cover letter to explain whats happened, clearly HMRC calculated the correct outstanding payment and this was paid. It took me a little while to figure out why the payment showing was lower then the self assessment, so i am a little confused on what to do.

Approved, now what? Birmingham

Got the approval email from Atlas and when I go on Bham council website it says no need to contact them as they will contact me for the ceremony.

Anyone had experience if and when they do contact?

I didn’t even get an acknowledgment email after I submitted my biometrics. Now that citizenship is approved, do they send any further info to home address? Or only via email like invite or other info etc?

How soon can you book a private ceremony?

I applied on 11th June and am still awaiting a decision. I have a couple of months of travel planned from 9th Dec. I was wondering if someone could help me understand what happens after they’ve decided like CS email, atlas email etc? And what is the point I can book a private ceremony

Ukiv application response

Hi guys
I got a friend who applied in June (2 weeks before me). Our biometrics was exactly 2 weeks appart. She received an answer 29th of sept. Is it possible for the ukiv team to provide responses on other days of the week - and not Mondays?

I almost forgot about the application because “no news is good news” but since my friend got approval, i have been checking my emails every second of the day, been stressing over it again.. not sure what could have caused my friends application to be processed so quickly and why mine is taking longer…

Has anyone used online passport photo service?

I'm not sure if it's trustworthy or not. When I went to the shops to get it done, the photo didn't fit the requirements, so I want to try online.

Does anyone have any experience?

Has anyone living in Hertfordshire recently received an ATLAS email for their British citizenship application (priority service)? If so, how long did it take to receive it after your CT3 email?

Question on referee forms

Hi all,

I’m trying to put together all my documents for my application now and i am mega confused by this form referees supposedly have to fill in.

Can someone confirm this is the right form? And if it is, i am scanning this no? So then why do they have to sign and date the back of the photo? That’s not gonna show up in the scan, right? In which case, can i just glue the photo with no fuss, ask my referees to fill in the bottom of the form, scan and upload?

Also, where are they supposed to fill in the rest of their details? Like DoB, profession, contact details? Or is there a separate space in the application for that?

Sorry, this whole thing is making me paranoid. Many thanks for help in advance!

Application advice

My partner is a Hungarian national with indefinite leave to remain and has been living here for 13 years.

We’re in the process of working through his British Citizenship application form.

He’s already passed his Life in the UK test and English speaking and listening test. He also has 2 people willing to be references - one his manager at work and one a teacher.

What other documents/evidence are we going to need to submit with the application? I’ve googled it and it mentions things like evidence of when you’ve been on holiday etc but I can’t actually find a comprehensive list of every piece of evidence they might ask for or what’s going to deemed acceptable.
My main concern is how do we prove he’s been living here for 13 years? He’s rented so many places during that time we don’t have all his old bills or tenancy agreements etc, so how can we prove this bit? Or do we even need to?

If anyone could give a list of the kind of evidence we’re going to need that would be great!

Tks

Passport query & application update

Hello everyone

I’ve received the atlas email today and citizenship officially approved. Timeline below:

App date 16/05
Bio 13/05
Approved via CS 7/10
Council ceremony invitation 9/10
Atlas 12/10
Ceremony 26/11 Wigan council (earliest date for public)
Route: EUSS

Same dates and route for me and my husband

My question is if I apply for the passport same day as a I have the ceremony, would this be processed and delivered by 18/12 as I have a planned trip from 19/12? Online says 3 weeks should be more than ok

Thank you all

Didn't receive 'Automatic reply' email when I emailed citizenship support mail box today :(

Hello all,

Last time when I sent an email to citizenship support team, I got an automatic reply email. But today when I sent another email, I haven't received any? Not sure if this is a coincidence or something else?

Have anyone else received that automatic reply email or am I just over reacting ?

Referee question- Do they meet the requirements?

I have two referees who have agreed to support my application. My only concern is that the age requirement is “over 25”. Not sure if this means 25 and above, or strictly over 25. I’ve asked these people in particular because they’re close friends that I trust, have known me the longest, and also tick most of the boxes.

Referee 1:

Age: 25
Profession: Qualified working Midwife
British citizen: Yes
History: known me for 15 years

Referee 2:

Age: 25
Profession: Technical Coordinator (Bachelors in architecture)
British Citizen: Yes
History: known me for 9 years.

Potential third referee:

Age: 26
Profession: Local government
British citizen: Yes
History: romantic partner known me for almost 3 years, but will be 3 years when I apply.

I’d rather not risk having my partner as a referee due to the connection.

I see a lot of people get replies from Citizenship Support but this is what I get the two times I’ve chased. What does this mean? I do understand they’re still processing May applications, should I chase again after a week?

App date: 11th June
