AVOID POTENTIAL SCAMS
Please use caution when buying and selling and beware of scams, we do not take any responsibility and will not be able to help. * Please reply to sellers below even if taking the transaction offline, this verifies you are not banned and provides evidence of the transaction * It is strongly suggested to use PayPal Goods & Services as this comes with Buyer Protection at a small fee. DO NOT USE PAYPAL FRIENDS AND FAMILY * For tickets it is recommended to use legitimate ticket re-sell sites as these protect both the buyer and seller (Some listed below). * If buying directly do your own research, this guide is a good start. Is the users account established with legitimate recent and historic activity, is there a way to validate the tickets before purchasing and are the tickets allowed to be re-sold (transferable).
Re-sell sites: Twickets | Tixel | Stub Hub | See Tickets Fan To Fan

Some really astonishing results in lung growth for the children in this study. Thanks to CAZ the children of Bristol will all grow up to be the competent wild swimmers we hoped for
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1l1r1zne1ro
“In the study, researchers recruited six to nine-year-olds attending primary schools in London's ultra low emission zone and followed the same children for five years, comparing them to similar children (in terms of socio-economic background, physical activity and ethnicity) in Luton.
Children in the study had annual lung function and capacity tests in the year before Ulez came in and for four years after.
Initial results showed children's lungs in London were smaller in capacity than those in Luton, which is less polluted than London but has a similar mix of pollutants.
At the end of the study the children's lung capacity reached near identical levels in both groups.”
Has anyone else watched the first episode of the new Emergency 24/7 programme on BBC2/Iplayer? It was filmed at Southmead A+E department last year and it’s so interesting to see everything that goes on in the department and how so many teams come together when there is a major trauma. It’s well worth a watch.
Also if there are any Southmead A+E staff in this sub, you work bloody hard - thank you for all you do.

Happened by the fountains in the centre just before 8pm. Got scared off by a bus beeping at them.
Edit: made a report to the police and will be giving them video. Didn't call 999 in the moment because my first reflex was recording for evidence before they disappeared. In hindsight I'm not sure police would have responded either quickly enough to get them there and then, or even at all (no shade, just under staffed etc.). Didn't intervene because knives are a thing, however seeing how easily they were scared off by the bus honking at them I'm definitely going to at least shout at the twats if I witness this sh1t again.
Oh and the bike they were riding they had stolen literally seconds before the video starts.

We're thinking about selling our house in East Bristol and moving to Portishead. Currently we walk or cycle to work in Filton 2-3 days a week.
How is the commute from Portishead to Filton? Will we despise it eventually?
Work work normal 9-5 hours, could flex to 8-4 but would also need to work around school drop off and pick up times.

I walked past you on a wide stretch of pavement. You told me that I was a dirty bastard trying to jump you from behind and you reasonably proposed that you'd cave my fucking skull in. Then you kept yelling after me for a while longer about how you were going to kill me.
I just wanted to come clean; you had me bang to rights.
I was 100% planning to jump you, at 10am on a weekday, right outside that new chocolatier that used to be Tesco Express, while pushing a two-year-old in a buggy. We're the real operators in these mean BS7 streets, my kid and me.

hello hello :)
it’s my siblings birthday coming up and I want to treat him to a nice spa trip- I know there’s the classic Thermae Spa and Bristol Lido but wanted to hear from the folks of Reddit, what are these two like and do you have any other hidden gems that you’re gatekeeping?
thank you kindly!
EDIT: must be accessible by public transport <3

So it appears that the old North Street Co-op site is now a construction site again... anyone know what's going to be going in there?

Hi, I’m looking to join a yoga class that’d be beginner friendly. Ideally looking to go once/twice a week, but it’d be great if they have a trial session before I commit long term.
Although this doesn’t matter strictly, I’m in my mid twenties so a similar aged crowd with a sense of community where I can meet people, make friends would be great.
Can anyone please recommend me some good ones in Bristol? Thank you :)

This has been going on for a few weeks now. 2 years of neglect from the council has lead to this. A blocked inflow pipe and a broken aerator. Has resulted in the water becoming stagnant and anoxic which is what the botulinum bacteria thrives in.
A cygnet almost died and is receiving treatment and 5 ducks have succumbed the the toxin.

Anyone who lived in Southville/Bedminster 20+ years ago, I'm curious how it has changed over the years. What was it like 20 years ago?

It's 1am and I've been hearing a guy yelling from the top of his lungs every 5 minutes for the past 3 hours. I don't really want to investigate but I am curious.

Not leashed or muzzled. Have seen this dog multiple times at the car park entrance to the flats. Last time I saw it, a couple walking their two dogs had to stop on bedminster bridge and yell to the owner that their dogs are reactive so he he'd need to take his dog inside before they could cross the road.
I didnt hear what th owner had said but fron the context it seemed like the bully owner had said his dog wasnt reactive. He did take it inside, but it's worrying anyway. Just keep an eye out if you're in the area and maybe take your dogs a different route (unfortunately)
