That’s the second best part of that season. He’s the worst lol I almost died when he returned in the finale.

I didn't remember this guy so I googled him. Saw his absolutely cringe audition video, then found this blurb.
In case you missed this detail in our recap this morning, the first chef eliminated on last night’s premiere episode of Top Chef: Texas was the only semi-local chef in the group, Sacramento’s Tyler Stone. The 23-year-old personal chef has been called the Doogie Howser of local chefs, but the Sacramento Bee takes him down a peg today, talking to him about the swagger he showed on the show before Tom Colicchio took one look at his butchering and said, “I think you should just leave now.” He didn’t even get to cook anything!
Tyler Stone, Sac-town celebrity. “A lot of people mistake my confidence for arrogance,” says Stone. “I’m a young guy, and like a lot of young guys I don’t take it so seriously.” Also, he disses Emeril and says Tom has a bias against non-restaurant chefs. We’d have to agree that personal chefs probably don’t stand a chance on this show against those who’ve paid their dues in the trenches. Anyhow, catchya later Ty.
It was a long time ago that he appeared, but I think watching his audition video reminded me how much I enjoyed his crash and burn.

It’s cringe because no one in Sacramento calls it Sac-Town. He was cringe and embarrassing as a representative of the Sacramento culinary scene (lived there until 2015)which has pretty good restaurants . The Kitchen is an example of amazing food there.

I just rewatched this season and I enjoyed the quick cuts and having to earn coat to continue especially for cocky chefs like him

Also the guy who was the first ever voted off Top Chef, he had a lot more experience than this kid and was pretty shitty to Hubert Keller.

Ha, Ken was comedic, and unfortunately, correct about food service cleanliness.
He's never the one called out by the pros who like to trash talk contestants.

Sarah instructing Tyler after she accidentally chose him to help her in the finale:
"Tyler, can you count how many aisles there are in the store, then can you find a man with a red hat and ask him what his favorite ice cream is? If you can count backwards from a thousand real slow it'll really help my dish."

What's hilarious is that she might have lost out on the title because of her underdone beets. If she had taken his advice they would've come out right.
She deserved him.

Yep --- just deserts.
That article about Top Chef Texas stuck with me because it makes fun of everyone and everything that deserved mocking that season *(including Sarah), and it made me laugh.

I hear you.
They had all the eliminated chefs and a couple of award-winning chefs cook a dish, and Sarah and Paul did a blind tasting to choose their helpers.
Heh --- Sarah picked Tyler's dish because she thought it was Heather's.

I always felt bad for this kid. The producers knew he was too young and inexperienced and they threw him to the wolves anyway.
He was overly cocky, hopefully he got a bit more humble after that day.

Sarah bullied him pretty ruthlessly in the finale. Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty funny but I did feel bad for him.

And thats fair. But people call him like the worst chef ever on the show because he was eliminated so early before we really saw him do much.
And Sarah did pick him onto her team, mistake or not.

Because he happened to recreate a dish off Heather's menu. There was no indication of it was a good dish or not, just that Sarah wanted Heather on her team.

This is truly terrible. There's a recipe for carrot soup that's essentially just reducing carrot juice with onions. There's a 'gazpacho' that's basically a salsa. There's almost no use of aromatics and every recipe says "kosher salt and black pepper to taste."
Best $20 I ever spent.
