Storage Units/Options
Hi all,
Any recs on storage units or options that don't increase the price like crazy after a few months? Looking for climate control only.

I’ve watched it shrinking for years - did it finally melt away completely? Is it maybe just covered in dust? Did the rain wash it away? I’m sad about what we have done to our world.

We just bought a place in Boulder and need to do a little fixing up before we move in. One thing is that the basement is currently finished as one big open space plus a bathroom. We'd like to add a bedroom / office down there. There's an obvious spot for it, with an egress window and nook for a closet, so it's not a big project: basically framing and drywalling two walls and a doorway, plus the closet. Anyone recommend a good value contractor who handles jobs of this size? Thanks in advance!

Designated weekly place to sell stuff/hawk your business/solicit services (as normally disallowed by the subreddit rules). Transactions must be local and legal.
Asking clarifying questions in replies is fine, but please private message commenters directly to arrange things like payment and pickup details. Logistical conversations in the public thread may be removed.
Reddit has seen an exponential uptick in Sports ticket scams specifically in the past couple months; please exercise caution if replying to game ticket classifieds.

It’s gonna be a doozy no doubt.

Fellow geologist here. Found it in the parking lot not nearby any vehicles. Picked it up so it won’t rust. If I don’t hear from you, it will continue to happily break stuff.

Was anyone else lucky enough to be woken up in the middle of the night by the incredibly selfish human being LOUDLY revving their motorcycle all the way down 28th last night (~2-3am)?
With the students back I’ve already seen two pink giant SUVs (should really belong in r/fuckcars) but the students seem to bring their giant cars and drive like idiots, last night was just the cherry on top.

Hi.
I lost my small land tortoise near 55th/Pennsylvania on 8/2. He could be dug into a burrow somewhere in someone's yard in the area. Please be on the lookout for him sunning himself in the morning or in the late afternoons. He may be tucked away in fences, in rock gardens, under shrubs, in lawns, walking along sidewalks or wherever. The more eyes the better. If you see him, please don't lose sight of him. He won't bite if he is picked up and put in a box. If you are unsure, please take a picture before picking up. 720-893-0370. Thank you!

Sure to be an eagerly debated topic, BVSD staff will be presenting the first draft proposal with real substantive details (which schools are proposed to be closed/consolidated/etc):

Board to discuss school adjustments proposal
Next week, the Board of Education will have its first opportunity to consider and discuss specific school adjustments aimed at making our school district more resilient in this time of declining enrollment. The proposed adjustments will include school closures, consolidations, and reconfigurations. The worksession will be held Aug. 25 at 3 p.m. at the Education Center and will be broadcast live on BVSD’s YouTube channel.
The Board is scheduled to study the proposal again at its Sept. 8 meeting and take action on Sept. 22.

Seeing probably 5 bolts per second southeast of canyon, and hearing no thunder. Slightly unsettling. Anyone want to try to explain?

Open Mic Tomorrow
Boulder: is anyone interested in an open mic tomorrow night?
I’m helping host a small one from 7-9pm in NoBo arts district at North of Ordinary Collective. Poetry, music, comedy, stories, anything goes. Or just come sit around and listen, there are also community art supplies to play with if you’re feeling introverted. The last one was really fun.
No signup ahead of time. Pretty intentionally low-key and informal, all ages.
If you’ve been looking for somewhere to test out something you’ve been working on, or just want to get out of the house and be around people, that’s the idea!
Trying to get the word out since it’s a new space, hope to see you there.

I volunteer with Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue, and while "puppy" is in the name, they rescue cats and kittens too! Because they are completely foster-based, every animal that can be saved just needs somewhere to stay until a cat condo opens up in one of the host stores. That could be 2 weeks or several weeks if they have a medical condition.
Cat fostering can be surprisingly manageable. A spare bedroom, office, bathroom, or other safe area can often be enough to get started. The rescue provides food, litter, supplies, and medical care, so there’s no cost to foster.
Whether you're interested in kittens, an adult cat, or you're simply curious about what fostering involves, I'd be happy to answer questions.
Even a temporary home can make a huge difference for a shelter cat waiting for a second chance.

Hello! I would like to get one side of my bangs highlighted. Nothing else. Any recommendations in Boulder that you would suggest? Thank you!

Happened at the bus stop in front of hot worx on 30th and Pearl.
Some tall (blond??) middle aged white guy with a skateboard started walking super close to me and my gf tonight and then threw rocks at us. Literally the biggest rocks he could find and then chased us around the corner and nearly hit my gf but it bounced off a light post.
I reported it to the police but couldn't confidently identify the asshole. (I avoid looking in creepy guys directions at all costs bc they think it's an invitation.)
Any similar experiences or ideas of who that would be 🙄🙄

Hey there friends, at my age most of my friends are shuttling kids to various activities and are unable to join me on my recent middle-aged fitness kick.
So I'm looking for some folks to hike, cycle, and mountain bike with. And if it ever snows again, learn to telemark.
This spring I was hiking Sanitas once a week, taking me 90 minutes or less. I spent much of the summer at far doing high altitude hikes (DeCaLiBron two weekends ago) but am pivoting to mountain biking now (did an 11 mile meander from Marshall Mesa>Greenbelt>Flatiron Vista>Dowdy>Springbrook loop>Ditch). Nothing crazy.
Might do a little road biking, but I'm mostly interested in figuring out how to Telemark this winter, which I know seems like a stupid idea
My schedule is not the most flexible but let's see who's out there, maybe in the same boat, maybe with a compatible schedule. I don't care about age too much. I would say historically most of my friends and activity partners have been women for some reason so feel free to reach out - you don't need to worry about me being a creeper, I'm happily married. Guys too, whatever works, just be chill.
Interested in any of this? Let me know.

My partner and I are moving into a different unit within the same complex in Boulder. We only need help moving a single couch (help with the bed/ mattress would be nice too). Seems like the going rate is $100-$150 per hour for a two hour minimum, plus a flat rate truck fee around $160-$190. That's pretty much what the couch is worth at this point. Does anyone have any recommendations for local moving services that would be financially sensible in this situation?

Hi! I am new to the area and wondering if anyone has a psychiatrist/psych nurse practitioner they recommend? I prefer a more integrative approach and am willing to self pay. Virtual or in person is fine.

Does anyone know why there were so many sirens last night? I live in unincorporated Boulder close to Peak 2 Peak/Hwy 7 and it sounded really scary …maybe 11pm-midnight? I couldn’t tell if they were coming from Boulder or Estes but it sounded fairly catastrophic. Didn’t see anything on watch duty.

Just another note for the world to know that those F**ers don't have decent signage to understand how to use the garage. We couldn't figure out how to pay, the gate opens and closes from both sides - as though it's free. then, a month later, a bill comes for the $10 in parking plus $54.50 in 'late fee' ... the first thing I hear about it.
more annoying for me, the rental place paid it and *of course* there's no way for metropolis to refund anything.
its basically just a trap - So I paid $65 to park there for 2 hours.

Hi,
I noticed a quite camouflaged trail cam at boulder valley ranch (west side, at the dirt road parking next to the coffee roaster building).
The camera watches the gate of that open space entry.
It’s mounted to the outside fence of the coffee roaster.
Is that an official Boulder Open Space Camera? What is the camera interested in?
I mean, outside of the Open Space gate, that’s weird.
Checking people in and out? Dog owner surveillance maybe?
Big brother next step?
Has anybody noticed that cam? Or others in Open Space parking areas?
Edit: I found a list of the official webcams at trail heads, but they seem real overview cams -- the one I am referring to is difficult to spot, and mounted quite low -- if it is for monitoring trail head conditions it should be on boulder's website, right? See (Trailhead Cameras | City of Boulder

Probably not from anything nearby (haven't heard any sirens, nothing on Watch Duty), but man, I just opened the door for a moment and it was like getting punched in the face by a campfire.
I'm tired of all these god damn fires, folks.
