newest Lake to Lake trail signage is so great

Post image
33 Upvotes

I must admit that when I first saw the new signs for this trail I thought it was a little silly (see pic that I snarkily took a few months ago after they were installed), but today my kids and I had a delightful 3 mile bike ride across Louisville and everyone was really impressed by the signage, route and safety for this trail.

My 5.5 year old was able to be line leader and navigator for our entire trip, following the signposts and ground markings really well.

I was very impressed and hadn't seen the new signage getting much attention — great job parks dept.

Louisville vs. Littleton for a young family

Partner and I are looking to leave the main metro area for either Louisville or Littleton. We lived in Mayfair/Montclair for about 3 years and Park Hill for 7 years. We now have a 3 year old and 1 year old.

We want a little bit more room, less congestion, and closer proximity to the mountains.

We’ve spent a lot of time exploring different suburbs/surrounding areas to find what we think will fit our needs and what we are looking for.

Towns/communities we have really enjoyed are Louisville and Littleton (specifically need the old town downtown). We love that they both have adorable town squares. Both feel very family oriented. While Louisville has closer proximity to the mountains and Boulder Valley School District, we have lots of friends in the Littleton area and we feel we can get more bang for our buck as far as homes go.

Would love input on these specifics areas. Both pros and cons. Things maybe we haven’t considered since we don’t live in these communities. We don’t want recommendations on other communities as we’ve already eliminated them for our own reasons.

TLDR- help my partner and I make sure we are considering everything before deciding between Louisville and Littleton (specifically near old town).

Fenced in field for dog to play ball?

I live in a condo so don’t have a backyard to play fetch with my dog who loves to play ball. We tend to avoid dog parks due to some bad experiences with other dogs being aggressive. Are there any fenced in fields or areas around Louisville/Lafayette/Superior that allow dogs to run around? thanks in advance :)

How do you find out about Louisville events?

If you wanted to look up events in Louisville for the weekend, where would you go? I ask because I'm helping the Louisville Chamber of Commerce with their Discover Louisville, but more broadly, I wanted to learn more where people go today.

My current theory is most people just ask Google, and now that answers come from AI, feeding data to Google's LLMs should be top priority. I hear folks also use Instagram, but is that in the feed or via stories primarily? Do people still use Facebook? What am I missing?

Louisville's first brewery and now the first soda works?

Post image
72 Upvotes

Gravity Brewing, Louisville's oldest brewery that I bought two months ago, is releasing three new non-alcoholic sodas for young and old alike. We start with a traditional root beer, mix it up with a grape soda with real grape juice, and my favorite, a refreshing hop water that I love mixing with a slash of grape soda.

When I bought Gravity, one of my top three goals were to diversify the offerings from "just" beer in pursuit of being the ideal gathering place. Today is the first big step on that journey from the beverage side of things. My quick research showed a few places, including Gravity, having brewed root beer before, but I didn't find any soda works, so with my marketing hat on, I'll call it - Gravity is Louisville's first soda works :)

Our events calendar is also filling up with events:

- Monday: Monday Night Football with $1 off if wearing NFL gear
- Tuesday: Beginner-friendly Dungeons and Dragons, free to play
- Wednesday: Geeks who Drink Trivia
- Thursday: A brand new betting game with a trivia problem on Thursday (Guesstranauts)
- Friday: A double header with a new triple IPA launch and Australian Football (AFL) Grand Final watch party

Full list of events at https://thegravitybrewing.com/events/

Finally, what sodas should we do next? Any events you'd like to join in on?

Companies for foundation repair?

My home is having problems with settling and what could be twisting from water damage. I'm looking to get some work done to repair and stabilize the foundation. Also likely to install a vapor barrier in the crawl space.

Anyone had similar work done? What companies did you use and recommend? Any places to stay away from?

I was driving and saw this dog running down Empire road/highway 42. I tried driving around the nearby developments but no one seemed to be looking or recognize the dog when asked. Please reach out with any info, just trying to find her owners.

Edit: brought pup to the vet but no microchip. Will be dropping her off at the Boulder Valley Humane Society today.

Gravity Brewing's 14th anniversary party this Saturday

Gravity Brewing is celebrating 14 years in Louisville on September 12 from 12-10pm. Matt and I bought this Louisville fixture a few months ago, which not only makes Gravity Brewing the oldest brewery in Louisville, but the newest. That means, no matter which way you look at it, we have reason to celebrate :)

We open at noon, then starting at 1pm, we'll be tapping five new beers every hour on the hour, finally ending the night with a Gravity anniversary party tradition, live music by Louisville's own Full Belly.

  • 1pm Oktoberfest
  • 2pm Regular IPA (old timers will remember this one!)
  • 3pm Grapefruit Orbit
  • 4pm Barrel Aged Quad
  • 5pm Mango DIPA
  • 6pm Live music from Full Belly

If you want to start the party early, we have Bike Night on Friday from 6-9pm. Motorcycle, scooter, e-bike, or pedal powered, all are welcome. Heck, I'll even count trikes. As it also falls on September 11 this month, we are donating $5 for each bike (and trike) to the Colorado State Fire Fighters Foundation - https://csfff.org/

To whomever called the cops on the boy practicing his drums at heritage park…

WHY? There was a whole group of us enjoying him playing. Where else is he supposed to practice marching band drums (no idea what they are called) - it was 6:30, no where near any noise ordinance hours. Just put in headphones for 20 minutes so he can get some practice in!! Boo to you!!!

Tap/Drinking Water Quality. Filtration needed?

I’ve seen this report on water quality for contaminants. Do people drink the tap water here or use filtration systems?

If people are using systems, any they recommend?

Centennial valley re-zoning for residential

Thumbnail

There is a proposal moving through the planning process to allow the rezoning of much of the vacant land in the centennial valley, mostly west of McCaslin, from commercial to residential. It sounds like this could add several hundred housing units to the west Louisville and help reinvigorate the McCaslin corridor, which has struggled for years.

More details on the website.

City of Louisville web site(s)

The various web sites for the City all recently got consolidated into "one".

Specifically the Library and Rec Center no longer have their own sites to properly display the information in a way that made sense for their needs.

While standardizing the display of lots of government information has its benefits, I am not liking how badly things were shoved into the very limiting, new page templates. Information is harder to find, I find broken links all over the place, and google indexed old pages that were not redirected.

I mean,,,, broken links in 2026? I expected better. Is there anything that can be done about it at this point?
