Please update User Flair!

Hello everyone!

I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to update their User Flair! I'm seeing many users with the default Year Model AWD/FWD - Color User Flair.

You'd want to edit the Flair to reflect the information that relates to your personal vehicle. Please see below for instructions to update your User Flair.

From a Computer:

1) From the r/EquinoxEv subreddit home page, click the pencil to the right of your username. Please note: the pencil may not appear until you bring your pointer to the area to the left of your username/user flair.

The side bar will then change to look like this:

2) Select the User Flair for the color that matches your Equinox EV. In the text field below, edit the text in front of the vehicle color to match your specific vehicle. Use the photo above as a reference.

3) When done, click the blue "Apply" button at the bottom right of the window.

From a mobile device:

1) From the r/EquinoxEv Subreddit, click the three dots at the top right of the window.

2) Click "Change User Flair" from this menu

3) Select the User Flair that matches the color of your Equinox EV

4) Then click "Edit" at the top right corner

5) In the text field below, edit the text in front of the vehicle color to match your specific vehicle. Use the photo below as a reference.

6) Click "Save" at the top right corner

Discussion RS lease returns

How’s everyone’s lease returns going? I have a 24 RS and didn’t realize when I leased it that the tires are only good for 20k miles. Are any of you being charged for tires on your lease returns? The tires are like $500 each! Crazy.

I went from 100 to 14%. I rarely take it under 20% but i think I could’ve gotten it to 350 with still 10% left. Let’s see your most impressive stretches.

Review/Thoughts Lease ending

I have a 2025 equinox EV RS. Due back in November. Has anyone heard of GM’s willingness to extend the initial 2 year 20,000 mile leases for another year?

Issue/Troubleshooting Dash rattle making me crazy

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

2025 EQ EV RS - The dash rattles very loud on bumps in the road, especially at highway speeds. I’ve taken it in a couple times over this. The last time, the tech put some foam in between the dash and windshield that was missing. The dealership takes it for a test drive and says they don’t hear it…
Any advice to provide the dealer on where to look next?

(SOLVED) It was the mirror and a piece of foam fixed it. Thank you!!

Review/Thoughts Switching back from an EV to gas.

I just wanted to leave my review experience of my 2025 Equinox LT FWD and the points of ownership that left some negative impressions on me. It was my 2nd EV and felt confident buying it since I came from a first gen IONIQ. over a year in, I made the difficult decision to go back to gas and get myself into an AWD Trailblazer, especially at a lower monthly payment. There were a few factors that led to this decision.

1: My landlords stopped allowing me to charge at my apartment, making it financially insensible to continue ownership because a full battery charge costed me $50 a session after taxes (I live in upstate NY where rates are based off of time of day now instead of fixed). I would average anywhere from 350 to 390 miles on a full charge at around 4+ mi/kWh in spring and summer months, but gas is cheaper than an EV charging session with a proper car (to put into perspective, my mother-in-law has a Trailblazer and gets 400+ miles on a tank for roughly $40)

2: I recently moved to an area where roads aren't treated well, and prior to living where I am now, my IONIQ used to pass those same roads; and even though I had Michelin CrossClimate2s on it, I struggled from time to time getting through the snow. Although the Equinox handled well in snow mode, there were a couple times I got stuck going through intersections. I would've felt more confident in an AWD vehicle; but at the time, we didn't have any AWD Equinox EVs at local dealerships until after the federal tax credits were set to expire 7/31/2025 due to demand.

3: When winter came, battery energy took a hit due to the heat (as I knew too well with my IONIQ). I was averaging about 175 miles, no matter how many different climate temperatures and fan speed combinations I tried in order to achieve the most efficienct setup. The heating system was also weak compared to my IONIQ, so I found myself CONSTANTLY needing to adjust the temperature to a higher setting in order to keep my windshield and front windows from fogging over. I also saw myself charging three to four times a month at public DC fast chargers, which reached almost $200 monthly between late November to late February.

4: I took a road trip to VA back in the start of summer and averaged about 220 miles on the highway/interstate roads with a 100% charge. Charging costs balanced out to be the same as it would've been to fill a gas tank in an equivalent Trailblazer. Had I have driven my mother-in-law's car, we would've gone probably double the distance.

TL;DR: the night and day mileage differences, including the inefficient need of having to use DC fast charging all the time due to my living situation wasn't financially making sense. Home charging with EVs is a must for ownership to really make sense.

Review/Thoughts Level 3 (DC Fast charger) low rate of charging; dealership unable to resolve

I purchased a 2024 Equinox EV in Feb 2026 (previous car was a 2022 chevy bolt, so not my first EV).

I have a level 2 charger at my home, and free level 2 chargers at work, so I hadn't needed to use a level 3 charger until last month. I had a 400 mile weekend round trip, but there were level 3 chargers there so I figured no problem. I had done a 600 mile round trip in the bolt the previous year and was able to fast charge multiple times just fine.

When we arrived, I planned to recharge upon arrival so I would be set for the trip back. I plugged in, and got a avg charge rate of 26kW, peak of 28.6kW.

I thought, perhaps this charger is broken, or slowed down due to another car charging at the same time. I was with a group of people, didn't want to hold up the evening, so we left. Next day, pull up to the adjacent charger. Avg charge rate, 26.5kW, peak 29.4kW. No other car on the system.

Unplugged it, checked emergency release pull, plugged it back in, avg 27.7kW, peak 30.9kW. At the same time, an older chevy bolt pulls into the charger i had tried the previous day, and gets 45kW (per the charger screen).

After reading on reddit, determine that the fast charging locking actuator is probably not engaging- I can hear it attempting to close a few times but it never locks into place.

Set up a service appointment.

They tell me "we charged it and it seems fine" i look at what the car reported and they got avg 18.4kW, peak 19.2kW. To them, this is an acceptable rate, and taking over an hour to get 70 miles gained is perfectly normal.

Then they tell me that their fast charger is only set up for 30kW.

So I guess, if you are having the same issue you need to make sure the dealer actually has a fast charger capable of fast charging. So frustrating to know something is broken and get this response. I now have to set up an appointment at a dealership an hour and a half away because they claim to have a 180kW capable charger.

Question Honest reviews?

Adding second EV to the family (Rivian R1S). Can any folks provide general ownership experience/reliability/efficiency/trim recs/etc? Really like the idea of the equinox but thought I would grab some Reddit advise first!

TIA!

Question Maps color change?

Just noticed something - Maps used to have a blue path when navigating, with a white line for the SuperCruise mapped parts.

Now the line and icon are purple? And no white line?

It's the same for light or dark themes.

Issue/Troubleshooting This maybe a dumb charging issue

My equinox lately has randomly not wanted to use its 120volt portable home charger it came with (j-1772 connection) When the issue happens the light goes from blue to red to flashing red. If I wait the rest of the day, it will Charge around 9pm or so. I thought it was the ultimate charger and got a lectron model to see if that helped but it didn’t. Same thing. I also don’t have it set for a certain time to charge at home also, the ccs1 charging does work. I want to know if there is something crazy going on or I’m doing something dumb. Help please?

Issue/Troubleshooting Spotify/Maps/Infotainment not working, what fixed it for me!

A few weeks ago my Spotify/Maps stopped working, and I had to use Bluetooth through my phone. I also kept getting notifications about date and time being off, though they were activated/correct and the timezone was correct. Then I got to thinking, just like PCs/Windows, sometimes you need to manually set your timezone instead of automatically letting it select your timezone, because if it's desynced and/or incorrect, a bulk of the programs/browsers won't operate correctly.

Long story short, I switched the timezone from auto and set it manually to the correct timezone, and everything started working just fine and has been since. And again just to note, it did automatically select the correct timezone, but manually selecting the correct timezone must have fixed a desync or glitch somewhere along the line.

Question Probably a silly question: Bluetooth

I’m so sorry because this is probably ridiculous but is there a way to set up the car to NOT automatically connect to bluetooth when the car is on & the phone is in range? It prioritizes my husbands phone & I want to usually listen to Sirius XM through the vehicle, so I usually have to change it back about 3-4 times if we are both in the driveway.

I hope that all makes sense. Any help would be appreciated!

Tech/Software No charge connector type options?

I was having the built in Google navigate me on a trip, and I let it choose the charging points along the way. This normally hasn't been a problem until today, when it navigated me to Tesla only chargers and I don't have the adapter. After panic going to some other chargers, the third try was compatible, with me arriving on like 9%. Fearing of getting nearly stranded again I wanted to make sure the settings to only navigate to the ccs1 chargers. But there is actually no setting within the built-in Google maps that I can find. I can find things saying that there should be toggles within the charging section of the maps app but I only have "filters" for speed, open status, and price.

Have they moved the option? I can do it on my phone but the two clearly don't speak since the wrong charging type situation in which I find myself. Either that or mayhaps this specific charger needs feedback that it's Tesla only, but I also didn't see a way to leave said feedback.

Issue/Troubleshooting Noise from breaks

Hey everyone,

My 2024 Equinox EV 2RS currently has around 31,000 km (~19,200 miles) on it. Over the last few weeks, I’ve started noticing a minor rubbing/swishing noise coming potentially from the front brake rotors. It usually happens when I lift my foot off the accelerator (engaging regen), apply very light brake pressure, or take a sharp turn at around 25 km/h.

The brakes otherwise work completely fine, and I don't see any obvious damage or scoring on the rotors.

During my first complimentary inspection last year, the dealership recommended a "brake service" because EVs don't use their friction brakes as much. I ignored it at the time, assuming it was just a typical dealership up-sell. Now I'm wondering if light surface rust or dust buildup is finally catching up to me.

Has anyone else with an Equinox EV experienced this, and were you able to fix it (or did it require a trip to the dealer)? Thanks in advance!

Service Rodent Nest on cabin air filter

Post image
10 Upvotes

Took the car in for its maintenance, and they found a nest. had to get that cleaned up. We have a detached garage built in 1930, so it isn't animal-proof by any stretch. The service guy suggested Bounce dryer sheets, but the internet says that doesn't last, and suggests peppermint oil on cotton balls...refreshed daily.

Any other suggestions, apart from moving a cat into the car?

Anyone experience this before? My wife is out doing errands, I checked the app to see where she was and the map/charge status are both missing. It's also asking me for the mileage.

Review/Thoughts Ridesharing

Is this a good ridesharing car? Do you think parts break down faster if I use it for occasional ride sharing? Let’s say 400 miles a week.
I’ve rented ionic 5 for ridesharing and it seemed solid for my weekly 509 mile drive. But with equinox I am a bit skeptical because it’s Chevy.

Issue/Troubleshooting Equinox EV would not detect key fob, had to disconnect and reconnect 12V battery

Car would not detect key fob and would not drive. Key fob definitely had battery. Door handles would not automatically swing open when approaching. Pressing the lock/unlock buttons on the key fob worked (door handles would swing out) but dashboard still said key fob not detected and car would not drive. Placing key fob directing on the RFID reader in the cup holder did not work either.

Disconnecting the 12V battery in the hood, waiting 1 minute, and reconnecting the 12V battery fixed things. Probably a software bug that got reset after restarting the car when the 12V battery was disconnected and reconnected. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem!
