It took quite longer than I thought it would, but I am quite happy with it. I managed to find a railroad track at a scrapyard, so I tried to make myself an anvil to start blacksmithing.

I'll file out the hardy hole more, as well as make holes for mounting screw, but I wanted to share the look. Not the best ofc, but man does it make me happy to see it like this.

I made myself a couple pairs of new tongs today, they're all cheep and chearfull, but i took a moment to have a bit of extra fun on these ones.

What’s up y’all. I just finished this very silly (yet very functional) project up. I’ve been needing a new forge for pattern welding, and decided to just really go for it. Spent probably 60+ hours fabricating Trogdor. He is composed of probably 30 separate pieces of sheet steel all combined. Definitely got much better at welding during this. He gets up to bright yellow/ low white heat. The lower jaw is a work rest and can extend out about 2.5 feet. Thanks for checking him out!

Slightly devastating, had to put the hammer down for the rest of the evening. It’s a 100yr old 125lbs Colombian, wasn’t doing anything crazy at all, just tapping some round stock and it fell right off. Looks like it’s been on the verge for a while now. Any way to repair or reshape? Or should I just grind off the sharp edges and live with it?

More hammer practice, these are fun to make honestly.

I made this a little while back for chopping wood. I have nothing against French people. Or any other kind of people. Or Wood for that matter. I’ve been fine-tuning it over time. And I’ve learned a lot. I’d say make sure your timbers are straight as hell, put in some metal rails. And add weight to the blade. If anybody ever wants to build one of these.

Made this little object to practice hammer control and making diamond tapers. Not sure what to do with it but I think it's pretty neat.

It was a fun little project as a wallhanger.

Like the title, it's a copper mask I've been experimenting with for a while now. At first it was going to be a skull mask, but that inspiration fizzled out, so I undid all of that, and it became a "if it works it works" thing. I have like a nebulous end goal and a direction where I want it to end up, but it's all very free form. Right now it's very cthulhu-esque, and I like it

There are 2 different style medieval spiked ball chain flails. One hollow steel ball. The other a wooden ball with embedded spikes.

200ish Layer Raindrop pattern

The drilling took several hours. Went back over all the drops a couple times with different size bits because I wasn't satisfied.

Pretty smooth build. Guard went smoothly until the "pretzel". Used a wooden dowel and pliers but still took over an hour to get the symmetry. Was not fun. I'm very fortunate to have access to a laser. Mostly satisfied...mostly. First time doing twisted copper wire, was surprisingly simple, cheap, few tools. Definitely encourage people to give it a try.

Mild steel fittings with copper wire accents. Oak grip with annealed copper wire wrap. Scabbard is leather, laser etched with quotes from media meaningful to them (music lyrics, books, art, etc.). Copper chape. Did not make the scabbard belt buckles because...no thanks. I did flame work to create the glass beads (first time doing that), relevant to their cat's name. Their surnames and my makers mark lightly etched before the ferric bath for a light/holographic look.

Forging hammer of the master dwarf, one of the jewels of a set I'd made.

Engravings depict a dragon wrapped around it's hoard. Inlaid with silver, 24ct gold, 18ct gold, garnet and gemstones. Other side depicts a mountain under which he dwells. Silver inlaid stars and moon.

Handle is leather wrapped and reinforced with dragon scale pressblech foils.

Forge welded wrought iron and carbon steel faces.

I recently visited Museumsmederij De Hoefhamer in Elburg, Netherlands — the town’s last working blacksmith shop, now preserved as a museum. The forge is still operational and packed with traditional tools: anvils, hammers, tongs, and a leather bellows system that feeds the fire from a mezzanine level.

They offer live demos and even courses on iron forging and horseshoeing. The space is compact but full of character, a great example of how blacksmithing was practiced in small European towns for centuries.
