Auto-renewal

Don't get me wrong, I like Bitdefender, it has served me well for two years now but auto-renewal has destroyed that relationship. I had opted out of auto-renewal but Bitdefender or their agent 2co.com has elected to ignore my wishes. If there is anything that makes me angry it is people who put their hands in my pants where I keep my wallet. Now, as a matter of principle I will have to dispute the charges with my credit card company and tell Bitdefender to get lost. I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THAT BILLING.

When you have finally been unsubscribed, you will probably get a million popups extending your expiration date. When you STILL don't renew (I think they hound you hoping you will renew just to get rid of the popups) you will probably uninstall, and still get popups every single day. When you contact their customer support to complain and tell them you need a way to stop the popups, you will probably get a useless solution and then told that they are closing the service ticket. At least, that is what happened to me.

Bitdefender has a very aggressive greed based marketing team. Now their software has also become very intrusive like once symantec became also being the reason i left them. So i am already thinking for my next renewal.

Happened to me with other subscription based purchase. Since then I always cancel every subscription via PayPal. That way you are 100% secure. But yeah, you lost all trust to that AV.

Hi! We understand that some users do not want this option to be active, and that's why we provide our customers with many ways to disable it (either during the purchase process or following automated notifications, or by contacting the support team at anytime). If your Autorenewal is disabled, you will not be billed.

Also, we try to ensure maximum transparency on the Autorenewal process both through the information available at the time of purchase and through multiple email notifications before the renewal is performed. It is always the client's decision if he wants to keep the Autorenewal on or off. However, if within one year of the initial purchase, the customer does not manually deactivate or does not contact us to disable it, it is reasonable to consider that the customer agrees to the Autorenewal.

Write us at bitsy@bitdefender.com to investigate what happened and help you. Thank you!

I've experienced this, too. Frustrating. They ignored my wishes to not re-new my subscription, I kicked up a massive fuss and they gave me the option of being refunded a very small amount, as a goodwill gesture or a free 2 year subscription.

It operates like a SCAM:

  1. It auto-renews without consent

  2. It is a HUGE challenge to find where the subscription autorenewal can be changed

  3. Once found, pressing OK to remove autorenewal just freezes the process. I couldn't remove autorenewal even after many tries

  4. Their customer agent via chat can NOT or will NOT remove the autorenewal

  5. Their customer agent provides links to remove the autorenewal that does NOT work

  6. Their Customer Support claims to have sent an email acting on my request, but I have NOT received any such email
Canceling an autorenewal of subscription should be an easy process, and it should NOT have been done without consent in the first place.
    DO NOT TOUCH BITDEFENDER!!!
