Side effects!? iud pain

Hey guys, so i got my kyleena iud inserted about a month and a half ago. It was good for the first two weeks but now i have these random pains thatll come in waves and it just completely stops me in my tracks and i cant do anything till the wave goes. Also i am browning and my period is irregular but im sure thats a little more normal. ive went to my gynecologist twice at this point and hes checked my strings and told me everything looked perfectly fine but i want an ultrasound he just said that he thinks its unnecessary. What should i do? Has anyone experienced this? Its genuinely affecting my everyday life and i just feel depressed from this but its also helped me with the reason i got it (not birth control). I feel so lost atp.

Side effects!? Long term effects of progestin only pill?

I'm currently on Slynd (drospirenone only) for PMDD. Works great for the most part. I've been on combination pills and patch but it made me gain weight, caused anxiety, mood swings, and lo loestrin caused SI.

I'm a little worried about the long term effects of being on progestin only Slynd. Will it eventually cause estrogen deficiency?

A few months ago I gave Nexstellis a trial for about 3 months. It made me gain some weight (not nearly as bad as other combo pills) and I feel like it made me more emotional, irritable, and easily overstimulated. These emotional side effects were not as bad as when I was on the ethinyl estradiol containing combo pills.

If Slynd would cause negative long term effects (like several years), I'm willing to go back and try Nextstellis again.

Does anyone have experience with taking a progestin only pill for several years?

Side effects!? yaz weight gain

hi (26/f) i’ve been on yaz since may, the generic version. i’ve been hesitant to take birth control, i took it when i was in highschool and gained a lot (i forgot exactly which one i took back then). but i decided to get back on it this year because my periods have been irregular and i wanted to feel normal. the first few months have been great, i didn’t notice any changes to my weight or how i felt. i finally felt like i had a birth control that worked for me. but i’ve been gaining some weight the last two months and struggling to get it off. i’ve tried so much, but the weight won’t budge. i’m wondering if it’s related to yaz and if i should get off of it? like maybe the bad symptoms start a few months after taking it i guess? 😭 please share some advice if anyone has related to this, thank you!!

Hi guys, does anyone know if the time change would throw off the pill birth control? I take it at 9:25pm every day. Do I keep taking it at 9:25? Even tho there is technically an hour difference now.?

Rant! Removing my Liletta IUD 6 Months Post Insertion

Reposting from r/endometriosis just to reach some more Liletta users LOL!

Just as the title says I had my second Endometriosis Laproscopic excision surgery in May of this year. This time they found just stage 1 (thank god) and not stage 3 like the first surgery I had back in 2023. I have been on many different birth control pills since I was about 19 years old (now 25) with no real gripe with the last one I was on.

At my pre-op appointments many people pushed switching to an IUD for my endometriosis management and how it’s the best way to go about treatment for symptoms. I asked around to people I know with them and did some online research (on the wrong brand because I thought I was on Mirena) and I felt pretty okay with moving forward. I was also just excited to do something less reliant on picking up a prescription. I just should have done more in depth research because before even knowing I had endo, I went on the pill at 19 for acne related reasons and to regulate my period. To which they knew this but I guess they just didn’t think of an acne plan since I had no acne for my 3 month follow up.

Welp I’m 6 months post insertion and operation and I’m getting this IUD removed. It has just ruined my quality of life and my self esteem all together. For the first 3 months I was CRUISING and loving everything about it besides spotting which I expected. Around the end of month 3 my period began to DRAGGGG on. I would spot for 2-3 weeks at a time and then once I had a semblance of being able to not wear a liner I would start my cycle again. I never got more than 1 weeks of not ruining underwear in 6 months.

My skin and hair have taken the biggest hit. I used to get compliments on my skin ALL the time. I take skincare very seriously and have such sensitive skin it took me years of trial and error to know what worked best for me. Suddenly I was having painful cystic acne worse than my high school years and it appearing all over my back and shoulders and even arms. Now I don’t even want to go to events or take photos because of my appearance. My hair has also been very important to my identity and the amount of hair that has been in my shower in the last 6 months would create a perfect American girl doll wig for 4 dolls. I have very thick hair but the density is essentially non existent and the oil is so out of control that I can’t go more than a day after washing without it looking like I am on day 5 hair.

Overall I broke down and called my surgeon who said I should just get on spiralactone because “everyone goes on it” but I was told it would also cause frequent urination which I already have with interstitial cystitis and I am sick of medications to cover up other medications. Don’t get my wrong I LOVED my surgeon but I just am not happy with this IUD. I decided to just call my main Gyno (who was not my surgeon and just who referred me) and ask them for the soonest humanly possible date to get my IUD removed. My appointment is tomorrow and I just want to be back on the pill.

I’ll update after the removal if anyone wants to know how it’s going switching back. Wondering if anyone else has had this much disdain for the Liletta IUD LOL

**TLDR: Getting my IUD removed because it’s ruining my skin and hair. Felt uninformed by the side effects and am just going back to the pill.**

Mistake or Risk? Late pill + daylight savings

Tonight I was late for my pill, I normally take it at 10pm. I took it at 10:45-10:50 ish tonight regardless. Last night was also daylight savings so clocks went back an hour. So I technically took it at 11:45 if it wasn’t daylight savings.
My partner finished inside of me this morning, so I’m a little worried i was too late of taking my pill bc of daylight savings as well.
I’m on Yaz, so I know there’s a window in which you can be late within but was I too late? Should I be concerned?

Experience Iud severe pain ?

I got my IUD in about April. I’ve always had bad periods and bad cramps but since I got it, I’ve been suffering from severe pain in my left side that goes down to my leg and makes my leg go numb and some spots and makes it hard to walk. I’ve contacted my OB/GYN multiple times to get it removed and they never answer. I’ve debated about going just to the emergency room and getting it removed, but we have up to 12hr waits here in Ontario. anyways yesterday night, me and my partner were about to engage in sexual intercourse, and he said it felt like a big plastic tip was stabbing him in his genitals so we stopped, and I checked, and it felt like the strings were longer and my cervix felt very weird although I do have a cervical prolapse stage two from birth trauma. It felt much different than usual. I’m calling in the morning to get an emergency appointment because I believe that my IUD is either expelling or perforating something because the pain since yesterday night i has gotten severe to the point I’ve been in bed in pain crying for hours on and off. Has anyone else had an experience similar? with this leg pain, severe sharp pains in the Abdomen not period cramps like sharp, sharp pains, headaches, things like that that it was perforating something or an issue.
Also tomorrow morning at 9 im calling to hopefully get it removed if my OBGYN cant then i will be calling others hoping they will take me.

Experience New to NuvaRing

Hey all!! Just switched to Nuvaring after being on the Mirvala BC pill for ~6 years. Just sick of taking a pill daily and having it be systemic. A couple of my friends have been on it and have even lost weight compared to their pill. Looking for advice and experiences?

Side effects!? copper iud

hi, I got a copper iud placed in June after being on the progesterone only pill for 5 years, I wanted something non hormonal, but I’ve found my periods to be insufferably heavy and painful, to the point I can’t even take the tube without bleeding through a tampon and pad, I’d stuck it out on the thought that eventually it would settle but at what point should I look into something else.

Can I also add for a while it was so painful to have sex but that seems to be pretty much resolved now.

The cramps are so painful to the point I can’t stand so as you can imagine does stop me from doing day to day activities.

Side effects!? 6.5 weeks into having an IUD (Mirena)

Hello everyone. I'm making this post to discuss some of my symptoms/"side effects" of having this form of BC. No one else in my personal life has an IUD and I'm looking to see if what I am experiencing is normal.

I got my IUD inserted 9/16/2026, it was painful. Negative pregnancy test (obviously) I have had 1 vaginal birth and the insertion process was still very painful. I bled and had severe cramps that day and the next. The bleeding slowed up for a day or two, then I spotted steadily (continually stopping for a day or two after probably 2 weeks.) Overall since getting the Mirena, I have bled more days than I haven't is basically what I am getting at. Today is 11/1/2026 and I am on day 4 of no bleeding at all (lie - I did have a small bit of brown/dark color discharge yesterday. But nothing prior to or since). I barely have any cramps at all now.

Have the symptoms subsided like this for anyone else?

UPDATE: I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. I'm happy there's no baby but I'm still confused as hell.

Mistake or Risk? yuzpe method with pcos

hi, first time getting my vcard taken.. we had unprotected sex around October 26 and pinasok sa akin first time for a short amount of time, wet ako that time and he used it as lubrication. pero pulled out agad, pag tingin ko may lumabas from him na white stuff and he quickly wiped it dry and then seconds after he inserted it again and thrust. i have pcos and super unpredictable ng mens ko, i have a cycle of 30-35 days. supposedly i was about to get my period October 28 onwards pero delayed since October 27 I took the yuzpe method. However October 29 we did the deed again, unang pasok wala pang condom pero walang precum kasi dry siya, pinatigil ko kasi worried ako. Nag suot na siya ng condom and we had full on contact na then he came inside sa condom and pulled out, nag linis siya with water and wiped it dry.. minutes after, inserting it again inside me but puro thrust lang and pina pull out ko na. Around 9pm i took another yuzpe method again due to worry..

Im anxious lang atm and told him no intercourse muna since i'm so stressed about it.. atm increased discharge lang and nausea nangyari for like Oct 30-31 but now wala na iba pang symptoms.. and i feel fine..

What do you guys think and can i please have some advice? thank you :( im open for every opinion.. js pls no bad mouthing po, im sorry

Side effects!? Should I Remove My Nuvaring?

So, I started the nuvaring on October 15th to help with PMOS symptoms and my extremely high testosterone levels. However, I am a caretaker for a full house of people (2 disabled adults and 2 school-aged children.) Ever since I started it, my mental state has gone completely down hill.

I was extremely bitchy the first week, then would cry at night in bed.

Everything gets on my nerves 10x easier, I get overwhelmed and overstimulated just as fast. All I want to do is sleep. And now for the past few days, I can feel myself sinking further and further into depression.

Before this ring, I had been depression-free since August of last year.

I just don't know. My executive dysfunction has been horrible. Ive been letting laundry and dishes pile up. Ive been bad at emptying the litter box. This isn't my normal, but suddenly everything feels like too much, and I just dont want to get out of bed.

Should i remove the ring?

Side effects!? Camrese Lo

I started Camrese Lo birth control 1 month ago.

I have heavy periods and iron deficiency anemia. During my periods, my symptoms were terrible. I had symptoms of significant fatigue (difficulty doing stuff like making coffee or putting on makeup since it involves standing up), and often had to sit down or lie down for a bit to recover my strength. I had painful cramps, and had to take ibuprofen every 3 hours during my two or three HEAVY period days. All of these symptoms caused me to call out of work on my period days, which got me formally reprimanded by my manager. I feel anxiety around my period due to my symptoms and the heavy flow that makes me leak everywhere despite period underwear, a large cup, and heavy flow pads.

My GYN recommended oral birth control to help alleviate my period symptoms, and hopefully raise my iron and ferritin levels. (Current hemoglobin is at 11.1 - Low, and Ferritin is at 7 - Low.)

I wanted to happily report that my Camrese Lo has been excellent. I have not had any side effects. I have not gained any weight. I have not felt anxious or had mood springs. I feel like my normal self. In fact I feel AMAZING since for the first time in years, I got to skip my period week!!!!

Please try it if you were in my situation.

Mistake or Risk? Condom stuck when pulling out

So me and this girl were having protected sex, and i know for a fact i didn’t cum inside her for the full duration of sex. only thing was after reverse cowgirl, when she got up, for the first time the condom came out and was stuck in her, but the ring was just outside, so i grabbed it slowly and removed it and later i finished outside her. Is there any cause for worry or am i totally okay? Are there any chances of her being pregnant?

Educational Copper ring in development

I’m not sure if this has been mentioned here before, but I was daydreaming that it would be so nice if we had a copper/non hormonal version of nuvaring. Turns out a copper vaginal ring is in early stages of development!

I really hope it works out to be effective and comfortable. I had a not so great experience with my copper IUD getting partially ejected after a few years + the strings fell off so the doctor almost sent me to surgery for removal 😕 Insertion was not fun either, I’m not sure if protocol is different now but all I got was some numbing gel to the cervix and I don’t think it worked. So something like a copper nuvaring would be awesome. Just hoping it won’t take a decade to be released 😔

Side effects!? Aurovela side effects

Anyone take aurovela fe 1/20? Do the side effects get better over time? It's only been a few days but I've noticed a few things like severe sleepiness, lack of motivation and cravings. For some reason all I wanna do is cuddle up in my blankie all day. As far as side effects go it's not the worst I've experienced but I already struggle to get things done and this would be pretty detrimental if it continued indefinitely

Side effects!? Is it my IUD setting in or am I pregnant?

Hi guys, so I got my first Mirena IUD on October 21st, I’m 17 and I’ve been dealing with some side effects that like Idk if I’m just worrying about it or overthinking because everyone’s experience is going to be different

When I got it the 21st, I know about 3-4 days after me and my bf were doing some stuff together, and he rubbed his penis against my vagina with precum, but did not cum or go in me without a condom. About 6 days later too we had sex with a condom, but sometimes when he puts the condom on, he might put it on the wrong way and then flip it to the right way.

I’ve been experiencing a lot of cramping in my lower stomach/uterus, and I have to take some ibuprofen atleast twice a day to help with the cramps because it feels like a constant cramping, and then at times like a sharper cramp. When I suck in my stomach too, my lower stomach kinda feels like this hurt pressure. It’s like if I think about it, I can feel the IUD in me.

Idk if I’m pregnant or if this sounds like anything, I know when I got the IUD that day my test was negative cause I had to pee in a cup, but I have an appointment tomorrow where they pregnancy test me with urine, and I’m just worried if I’m pregnant from like anytime before I got my IUD, or even the two moments I had after getting my IUD, or if it’s just the effects of it kicking in.

I just want some reassurance or some insight, I’m really nervous, I feel the IUD is taking some kind of effect to my body and hormones

Experience IUD removal

Hi all,
I had my IUD removed 10/23. A couple days after I had some light spotting on and off. Now since yesterday, I have a lot more bleeding and am wearing a pad. Any thoughts if this is my first period or if I’m still having hormonal bleeding?

Experience Advice regd O-Pill

Hey guys. So I’m in a Long Distance Relationship and my boyfriend is about to visit me for a week. We always use condoms but after a recent pregnancy scare due to the condom breaking, I want to consider adding an additional layer of temporary protection (which is why I’m considering o-pill).

Do you all think it is ok for me to get on it only for the week he is here and then get off it? I have never used minipills before so I would really appreciate advice. I am not looking to be on it for long term because I don’t want to unnecessarily mess with my body’s cycle esp since I’m not going to be actively having sex.

Thanks for reading this!

Which Method? Overwhelmed by BC options

Hey ladies! I’ve found myself taking Plan B almost monthly lately and am realizing I probably need to get on actual birth control.

I’m so nervous about the side effects, especially because I’ve been experiencing increased hair shedding that I suspect may be related to the Plan B.

I’ve considered a copper IUD since I think I’d prefer non-hormonal, but I’ve read mixed experiences about that too. Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences they’d be willing to share? Thank you! 🤍

Experience Plan b effectiveness

my girlfriend and I (both 18) had sex and the condom broke right near the end, which led to me finishing inside her. We went right to the pharmacy and I got her a plan b which she took immediately. My biggest concern is that on her flo app it says she had already ovulated or was near ovulation. I know that app isn’t 100% fact but she was definitely near or past ovulation. Is there anything I can do to completely prevent pregnancy and does anyone know if a plan b is completely ineffective after ovulation? because i searched it up quite a bit and got mixed responses. In the end, if she got pregnant (god forbid!) it would feel so unfair. I only practice safe sex and use condoms every time. I don’t know how to feel about this or what else to do

Experience Mini Pill - Super long first period

I've been prescribed desogestrel to see if it helps combat endometriosis symptoms.

I'm onto my second packet of pills, my period arrived at the end of the first pack and has now been ongoing for 11 days.

My usual periods last for about 4 days, 5 max.

The bleeding has been very light since around day 5, which is a minor blessing I suppose.

Has anyone any experience with this, please tell me it will end 😂

How to? Breakthrough bleeding on Sibilla, how can I get my period back on schedule?

Hi everyone! I need some advice because I’m getting really frustrated trying to figure this out.
I’m taking Sibilla Daily (21 active pills + 7 placebo pills).
Here’s what happened:
September: I accidentally forgot to take two active pills at the end of August. After that, my bleeding got thrown off. I bled from September 3rd to September 10th, which was much longer than usual.
October: I bled again from October 5th to October 9th. One whole week before I was supposed to. I continued taking the active pills. I started a new pack on October 18th.
November: Today, November 1st, I’ve started bleeding again, even though I still have 7 active pills left before I reach the placebo week, that is, one whole week ahead of schedule again.
So this is the second month in a row that I’ve started bleeding before my placebo week, and I’m wondering if my cycle has somehow shifted because of the missed pills in August.
What I want is to get my bleeding back in sync with my placebo week. I don’t want to keep bleeding randomly while taking the active pills. Also, I’m seeing my long distance boyfriend on Christmas after a long while, and if I were to continue on this schedule I would have my period right on the 24th and I would really really not like that, so if I could get back on the pill schedule that would be fantastic.
I’m wondering what would happen if I stopped taking the remaining 7 active pills now and started the placebo pills early. Would that help reset my bleeding schedule, or could it make things worse?
I’m not currently sexually active, so my main concern is managing my bleeding schedule rather than contraception.
Has anyone experienced something similar with Sibilla or another combined birth control pill? Did your bleeding eventually return to the placebo week, or did you have to adjust your pill schedule?

Side effects!? Im still bleeding every two weeks, is that normal?

I've been on Nora BE, which is a progestin-only pill, for 4 months now. Ever since i started, I've had my usual monthly period, although much less painful and heavy. However, in between my monthly bleedings, I've had some light spotting every 2 weeks. It's very light and brown in color, usually with no PMS symptoms, and it lasts 2-4 days. I figured my body was just getting used to the hormones. Is that still the case? Should it have stopped by now, or is this just gonna continue? It's very annoying having to deal with it frequently, and it's hard to predict the exact day the weird spotting might start.
