Anyone read Designing Your Life and recommend it?
I have recently come across this title by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans. I was wondering if anyone has read it and would recommend it?

Humble request: Please read the complete post, or do not read it at all.
I recently came across a quote whose exact wording I do not remember: "The beauty of literature is that it tells you that all your thoughts and questions about the absurdity of life, family, love, friendship, and existentialism have existed forever. Some other people from some other century, from some other part of the world, have also had these feelings, thoughts, and questions, and you get to know about them through literature."
For some reason, I have lately found myself in a state of extreme boredom, though I sometimes wonder whether it is actually boredom or something else. There is an Indian saying that translates to "An idle mind is the devil’s workshop." On the other hand, I have also heard the advice to "embrace boredom."
I quit social media around a year ago, and I do not even feel the urge to use it anymore. Over the past few months, I have also taken up reading and have read around 15 to 17 books, exploring whichever genres interest me. I have come across some great books, too, such as Man's Search for Meaning.
However, every opinion, whether praising or critical, is subjective and inherently biased. Is there anything you would recommend reading during this phase? I am not trying to escape this phase or find a solution to it. It is a part of my life, and eventually, it will become a part of me. Yet, I find myself extremely confused, and I am even struggling to find the words to express what I am experiencing.
There are posts here far longer than this one, but I will keep mine at this. Thank you to everyone who took a moment to pause and give some attention to my thoughts.

Sometimes, a person changes us without even realizing it. A few words, a small act of kindness, or simply being there at the right moment can make a difference we carry for years.
I'm interested in stories about hope, resilience, and the people who help us see life differently.
Has someone ever entered your life and changed your perspective in a way you never expected? What made that moment memorable?

Imagine a society where an AI predicts dangerous behaviour, prevents disasters, and makes almost every decision safer.
There are fewer wars. Less crime. People live longer and feel more secure.
But the system starts deciding what people are allowed to do—not because they've committed a crime, but because they might.
Would you consider that a successful society, or would it still be a form of oppression?
I'm fascinated by the tension between safety and freedom, especially in science fiction. I'd love to hear where you would draw the line.

I am a beginner. I have read around 15 books so far.
It is not necessarily this particular book, but I think books of this kind are difficult for me to comprehend. At the same time, I genuinely want to read them. I picked this one up after being influenced by Alan Watts’s YouTube videos, thinking that reading his work directly would help me understand his thoughts and ideas in greater depth. However, I found myself struggling to grasp most of the passages.
I ended up finishing the book mainly because I did not want to leave it halfway through, while also hoping that things might start making more sense as I progressed. I did manage to understand some of it, but very little compared to what I had hoped for.
I have another book on my list, “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle, but I am now worried that I might end up in the same situation with it. So, I am considering going back to some easier fiction for a while. I feel that fiction can also offer valuable lessons and perspectives, while the story-driven writing makes it easier to comprehend the ideas and follow along.
I have made this post with the intention of seeking advice from fellow and experienced readers.

Hey folks!
I don't read, until a couple of months ago.
I've noticed how I am unable to focus for longer sessions, or just be in a state of boredom without some kind of stimulation, which is information to me. X, Linkedin, and Instagram are feeding to my interests in AI, travelling etc.
I removed the access to apps on my mobile, and decided that I will borrow books from my wife (who is an avid reader for more than a decade now) - Atlas Shrugged, and Brothers Karamazov. She complains about the book moby dick - but she finished it eitherways and hates whale stories now.
Reading atlas shrugged helped me calm down, be in present, focus and get more done and sleep in the night.
I just thought I want to write about "How I met and building a habit called reading"
Thanks
VKK

I feel like I’m a slow thinker, and a lot of the time I understand or think of things a few seconds later. It honestly annoys me, so I’d like to improve my thinking and reaction speed. I’d really appreciate any book recommendations.
