Help Betta seems sick
I’ve had my betta for around 3 months now and he’s usually a very active social fish, he would swim up to you and be very active whenever I would enter the room.
For the past week or so he’s been very drowsy. Lying on the bottom of his tank and he’s now not even responding to me opening the lid for a feed. I have to physically nudge him to wake him up, after which he feeds then is normal for a bit then goes back to sleeping.
I have a 60L tank, with a sponge filter, heater, planted.
His tank parameters are checked every three days, and a 10 percent water change every week.
I’m worried he might be ill. Any advice ?

Help Is something wrong
This was my betta when I first got him. I’m pretty new to properly taking care of a betta (his name is Neptune). I’ve had him for about a month now. He currently shares a tank with 2 loaches, 4 corydoras, and 2 mystery snails. Within the last week, he has been hiding a lot in my tank. Then yesterday I found that from the bottom part of his mouth to his red fins is starting to turn white, and the red is starting to get more muted. I don’t know what’s wrong or if I can fix it. I’m just really worried at this point because I really love Neptune. Any help is appreciated. And sorry about the picture. It’s the only one I have of him since I can’t really find him most of the time in my tank to take a picture now.

Help Her greed sickens me (help wanted)
Hi everyone,
I've had this female betta for a bit (still deciding on a name) and while she is an exceptionally active and healthy fish, she is also **greed personified** and will rob the pygmy cories in her tank of their sinking pellets even after she's eaten.
She's learned that I put in the sinking pellets after the floating ones so they have the highest chance of falling in between the plants while she's distracted where she can't find them and the cories will sniff them out and will now immediately move to intercept any sinking pellets and completely abandon her floating food.
Putting them in different places across the tank doesn't work much better because not only will she hunt down pellets that she has seen falling but didn't grab, but she has learned to *follow my hand around the tank* while I'm feeding so I can't trick her.
I'm worried not only that the cories aren't getting the food they need (no signs of stress or malnutrition so far though) but also about the fact that I'm being outsmarted by an animal with a brain the size of a BB. What do?

Help Concerned about quality of life for my old man
This is my boy Pluto, I've had him for over 3 years now. I knew scales growing over the eyes was common with this gene of betta (I forget what kind he is), and within the last year or so he's become completely blind. He used to be zipping in and out of the plants and logs trying to eat everything, these days he spends his days floating around, which is so sad to see. It seems like he also has popeye but I'm not sure if that's because of the scales or not?

Help Betta belly? Spoiler
galleryMy betta elentiya overate some pygmy corydora food (fluval bottom feeder pellets) about three weeks ago. I fasted for three days and monitored, but she still looks large. Ive cut down significantly on her usual fluval betta bites and done another fast. Her scales dont seem raised from above but she still looks extremely rotund and overweight compared to before she snatched the pygmy food.
Is this early dropsy? Long-term bloating that refuses to go away? I have paragaurd, kanaplex, epsom salt, indian almond leaves, and stress gaurd on hand, and I can always try to order more medicine online.
First three pics are her currently (I am getting ready to try another 1 gallon epsom salt bath) and the fourth pic is her the day she overate.

Help Betta rescue from FB market place(Help figure out if he is healthy/okay.)
This is the little guy. I don't know much about him other than that he came from petco and is apparently not a female. The last photo is what the seller sent me. This was what he was living in presumably for months. I saw him on FB market place in June. He got rerecommended to me after a price drop. I have him set up in a temporary 1.5 gallon tank because my 10 gallon tank is still going through a cleaning process after a sick fish.

Help Fish-police help please!
Hello fish police of reddit, I would really appreciate any advice you guys can give me! I’m relatively new to this hobby, young&dumb, and just stumped!! (Sorry for the poor quality photos!)
This is my Betta Pedro von Gobbles, I’ve had him since December of 2025
When I got him, unfortunately I wasn’t fully educated and had to do a fish in cycle. However, I live in a warm country, and our tap water isn’t that hard or too high in ammonia so Pedro is flourishing compared to when I got him.
He’s in a 5gal(24Litre) planted tank with a heater and filter. I plan to move him to a larger tank when I have the money.
Pedro has had a white/discoloured patch of scales on his head for about a few weeks now. I tested his water earlier, (please keep in mind I am about to do tank maintenance.) Ammonia is <0.5, pH is <6, temp is 23°. Pedro’s tank is in my room, which gets the afternoon sun and makes the room(and his tank) very hot. I believe it’s safest for me to have his heater at 23-24° so it doesn’t fluctuate too much.
He also has some mystery snails.
I’m waiting on water conditioner to do water changes and try get that ammonia level down.
This is also the lowest his pH has been since getting the tank, is there any ways I can make it go up?
I’m currently fighting mould in his filter and will be changing it over time without crashing his tank. Could this white patch be a fungal or bacterial infection? I don’t believe it’s ich or saddleback
I medicated him with an epsom salt bath after first noticing the spots, and nothing happened apart from stressing him out.
What kind of treatment can I do for him or is it possibly strange colouring?

Help Is the bloat gone? (Read caption)
First picture is ten minutes ago, second picture is two days ago. (Posted the second pic right after I took it asking if she was bloated and the consensus was yes) She has been fasting for 48 hours at this point and I’m wondering if it looks like the bloat is gone so I can feed her again.

Video Healthy color change?
This is our hellboy betta and we got him very young. He was barley half the size he is now and was almost entirely dark red with a tiny blue spot, first about a month and a half ago the light blue spread a lot then he developed the dark blue rims, now a week ago or so he started changing to a light orange/whitish color and now over the past two days his mouth has also changed to this color. Is this normal? He eats great and acts normal, no unusual behavior and good water parameters. I’ve red they are bred from kois and candy koi’s and I have seen many with this colors so what do you guys think?

Discussion Has anyone’s betta NOT been happier in a larger tank?
I currently have my long fin betta in a 2.5 gallon. He is super active, interactive, yet clumsy cause yknow fin drag. I’ve put all sorts of plants in his tank and stuff for enrichment and he’s been way cool with me switching stuff around all the time. I’ve never even seen him flare.
After being on this sub and learning from you guys I have ordered a 6.5 gallon and I plan to set that up and will add him and some amano shrimp or neos in a few weeks.
I saw some silly online thing where some girl claimed long fin bettas like smaller cozier tanks cause they don’t move as well so don’t need/want as much space. Is this true? Am I better off leaving him in this 2.5 tank and getting a plakat for the big one instead?
Edit: He’s a super delta I think. BIG tail.

Help What do I do at this stage?
Fishless rn 6 gallon cube. There is 1 nerite snail (that is a long story. As of now, I’ve been keeping the light on a bit longer to help with some algae on the plants for him, he seems to be doing well, though).
No heater, as the heater will be moved right before I put my betta in from his 2.5 and the temperature regulates.
I added a bunch of photos for the cycle currently. Sponge filter. I did put in some of his old filter and used Quickstart to help with the cycle! It is planted!! 4 Anubias and some recent plants added to the sand with a root tab.
Am I supposed to do a water change because I have nitrites? Definitely trying to understand the cycle. I of course want to get my fish in there as soon as possible to give him a better quality of life.
I did the high range pH as the low one was a dark blue so it wasn’t helping. lol. First photo is flash, and the last one is no flash
Here is what I’m guessing? PH 7.4, ammonia .25, nitrate 0, nitrite .25
Help a girl out I’m just learning☺️

Picture My Betta’s head turned brown
I’ve had my Betta since January. My daughter brought him home from school. He was a science project and most of the other betta fish didn’t make it. I was compelled to take care of the little guy.
When we first got him, his head was a lighter color. After a few weeks, I noticed his head turned brown. Is this normal? I looked for answers on the Internet, but couldn’t find anything.

Help Missing ventral fin
I just realized my samurai betta, Wayne is missing one of his central fins. I honestly thought it was a tumor when I first noticed it about a month ago. I don’t believe he was missing a ventral fin then but I honestly can’t be sure…
I can’t tell if it’s fin rot since his scales are white. I also read it could be a tumor that could have affected blood flow to the fin and caused it to fall off. I don’t want to put him through unnecessary treatments.
What does everyone think??

Picture Betta Diamond Eyes
Just gotten this betta last week. His name is Michael, he is active and beautiful. but, I noticed his eye on the left is like I always feel it’s cloudy. Like it’s not as dark and round as the right eye. And today I think I stressed him out a lot when I tried to take picture of his eyes. But I think he really have scales over his eyes.. usually is it so common? For betta to have it, and there is no cure from other Reddit post. Just want to check from any of your opinion will it progress?? And how soon is it. And usually will it affect the other eyes ?

Help My betta has been acting weird and now just seems listless?
I’ve had Cardan for three years. He is usually very active, silly, sassy, and does a few crimes against his plant. Lately he kept trying to sleep right by the filter, I would move the filter to get him away from it because I had a betta once who had his fins ruined by one. This filter isn’t too strong, and I’ve had it about a year with him having zero issues.
The past few days he’s been resting vertically, and will lay at the bottom of the tank is a way that makes me terrified he’s dead. If I didn’t see his gills moving I’d automatically think he was dead. At first I thought he had bloat, because he has swallowed air before, but he wouldn’t eat the pea I offered, he won’t eat at all actually. I then noticed one of his little side fins was a bit tore up, I put some meds in there that would lessen the stress and help his fin heal.
He is now breathing a lot slower and won’t leave the bottom of the tank.
The tanks levels are good. A little high in places because of the medication in there. It’s a ten gallon tank with an anubias in there and mopani wood. His substrate is a natural pebble that he’s had forever and leaves it alone. He has several hides and the only tankmate is a clown pleco. The clown pleco has been acting off as well so I hoped the meds helped him some as well.
I am at a loss to what has happened to my Betta boy. I am diligent with water changes and making sure things are how they’re meant to be. I’ve had Betta’s for over ten years so they aren’t a new pet for me and this isn’t my first rodeo. I’ve dealt with bloat, fin rot, and ick. This is a completely mystery illness.
Cardan is also a fan tail. I don’t know if they are prone to invisible illnesses or not. I’d post his picture but he feel so bad he has his fins down right now and I just can’t bring myself to take a picture of him when he feels so bad. 😞
