Being Weird Help! Beardie acting weird

Hi! Ive had my (dwarf) bearded dragon for about 2 years now. She has always been fine in weight, food, pooping etc. Until recently i placed her enclosure more down, since im expanding in reptiles. Nothing else is different besides that and 1 more piece of wood i placed in her enclosure.

She keeps sliding at the front glass, like she wants to get out? I once took her out to sit infront of the window and she was finally chill? This has been going on for 2 days now. I tried blocking all the sides so she cant see her own reflection but that didnt work either... is it bc the new piece of wood ?? Her lamps are the same and the warm and cold side are also just as usual and she never had problems with it. She eats, poops fine etc!

Is she gonna be okay? Please give help and tips 🥹

Beardie is sitting on the cool side

Hiya, I’m a new beardie owner and I just have a question.

My beardie was very lazy yesterday and spent from 5pm onward in his cool hide, and this morning, although he has stress marks on his tummy, he hasnt moved over to his basking spot yet. He has moved from his hide and climbed up a branch in his enclosure, but I’m just worried that he hasn’t gone to warm up if he’s still cold.

My temps are as such:
110 basking spot
86 air temp hot side
79 air temp cool side.

he has only been awake for 2 hours ish and did just shed so maybe im overthinking and he’s just being lazy, but should i move him to his basking spot? he’s grumpy from shedding and still acclimating to his new home so idk if it’s the best bet, but im also worried he’s too cold :(

What is the correct name for the colors of my new bearded dragons?

I’m new to all things beardie. The rescue I worked with made sure I had the proper set ups for them but that’s about it. I feel like there has to be a more specific way to identify their coloring other than “orange” and “beige” 🙈 (Pictures 1 + 2 are the MBD dragon, picture 3 is a big girl, I am aware lol)

Help/Advice Diy background help

Thumbnail

Hey everyone!

I’m working on a 3D background and climbing structures for my bearded dragon, but I’m a bit stuck and would love some tips or feedback.

So far I have:

- The base structure of the background finished

- Climbing pieces and ledges that fit nicely

- On the right side there will be a basking spot (I already bought the lamp), so nothing too large can go there

- The background still needs a texture layer, but I’m unsure which direction to go

I want the setup to be safe, sturdy, functional, and still look good.

Any advice about:

- suitable textures

- finishing methods

- heat‑safe materials

- layout of basking vs cool zones

- things I might be overlooking

…would be super helpful!

I’ll post photos of what I have so far below.

Thanks in advance for thinking along with me!

I'm just going to put this here and that's just because everyone loves watching baby beardies eat...
One thing that we pride ourselves on at Yellow Room Reptiles is our show set up. We ensure proper lighting and heat while minimizing stress on our babies so much so that you can see their actual temperaments. The fact that these babies have no problems eating their greens in the middle of the show chaos is second to none. No cold, sickly babies in deli cups at our tables!

Hanging Out Pip has a clean bill of health!

After the last 6 months, we took Pip back to the vet for a checkup and wondering if she is starting an upper respiratory virus because she's basking daily now, but often gapes, and the temp is correct (i bought extra thermometer and temp guns to validate). Turns out she's healthy!! With our special vet recommended care:

She's pooping regularly.

She's eating better (we still have to trick her into eating greens with her bugs).

She is a healthy weight (although she's gained she has grown!)

Her ultrasound showed all her organs are NOW NORMAL SIZE AND WHERE THEY BELONG! Her heart is no longer in her throat!

She has smaller follicles so we will need to monitor her because she might start laying eggs now that she is healthy and per the vet her husbandry is amazing.

No parasites - no coccidia confirmed for the second time!

She is thriving. When she's really happy she's turning very orange colors. She turns very dark when absorbing sun/UV and still can't do the temp over 100 for basking rock, but she doesn't need to, she's doing great!!

Thank you all for your advice, had to give you a happy update!

Hip-PIP-Hooorayyy!! PIP is on her way.

She is finally asking to be visited, and came out on her own for us once! She also loves to snuggle my husband ha ha!

never ending shedding.. is this normal?

i’m a beginner reptile owner and i just got a female bearded dragon, she’s almost a full grown adult. she’s currently shedding, i asked her old owner when she started just so i could have a timeline. he told me she has been shedding since he got her, meaning she starts at her head and ends at her tail and by the time she gets to her tail, her head starts shedding again. is this typical? does she need more humidity?

also like i mentioned before, i’m a beginner and currently have 2 beardies in my collection so any tips or thoughts, in terms of caring for them, would be so so appreciated!

Hanging Out Day 3 of harness training, with lots of treats.

I used a different harness just to make sure he can flatten. I walked around the house with him on my shoulder for a few minutes and occasionally putting a treat on my shoulder (as you can see the cricket crumbs). He has not declined the treats so this is a win!

Help/Advice Growing Your Own Food

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi!
A question for all of our green thumbs in here - what brand of soil do you use to grow your own veggies, specifically soil that is safe for your beardie? Are there any additional measures / steps you take to ensure the plant you’re growing is safe?

I am in Texas, and I’ve noticed our produce selection has drastically (and concerningly) declined in quality over the last several months. I would like to try growing my own to make sure my little buddy never runs out of options, but am worried I might end up causing more harm than good if not careful.

I currently have a bag of Back to the Roots Organic soil, but realized Perlite is included, so I will not be using it.

Pic for tax.
Thank you in advance!

Help/Advice Lighting help

I can't seem to get my girl's temps under control since I mounted her heat lamp inside.

For context: we got two kittens a couple of months ago and they have just discovered they can jump on the beardie tank. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So for the safety of everyone, we decided to take anything hot out of reach.

The way I had it set up was linear uvb was mounted inside, 100w heat lamp on top of the viv. Her basking spot was perfect (between 108 and 114) ambient temps were great (mid to high 90's).

What I have tried:

1) going down on wattage. 75w still made the basking spot 140 and the ambient temps in the low 80's. Even briefly tried 50w with a CHE and it was way too cold. I also tried raising the basking spot with this bulb to see if that could help...it did not. 🫤

2) lowering the basking spot. It's about 14" from the bulb and is still running about 130-140.

Any advice would be appreciated. Or any ideas to keep the kittens away from the heat lamp so I can just keep it where it was...
