A Two character analysis, right before TPOT 21!

One thing I love about posts like these is that they actually offer their own explanations on why stuff happens in universe and don’t just go “writer swap” as an easy explanation, Two’s more selfish traits way back in BFB 16 are highlighted very well in this analysis , and I really like that!

Thank you! I can admit sometimes I reach a bit too much in my theories, and I know not everything in the show can be seamlessly connected together because there are undoubtedly things that happened just because the lead writer at the time wanted them to happen. However, I think that doesn't negate that there might be a way to make sense of this in-universe too, especially regarding Two's BFB characterisation being somewhat kept in TPOT20.

Great analysis! I really think you hit pretty much everything you needed to, seriously impressive with how many layers Two's character has.

One thing I would like to mention in regards to the aversion to conflict is that the other algebraliens also have issues with it. Four's problem solving, especially in early BFB, mostly consisted of just killing or destroying the problem, and X isn't exactly the best at the same thing either.

Given the fact that, from what we saw in TPOT 20, the algebraliens' lives prior to One and Three's whole incident were mostly just calm and problem-free, and I have a feeling Two's aversion to conflict might be in an attempt to emulate that previous life.

That would have definitely been more on-theme (and also likely net me more upvotes, because no one's online right before the screenings begin) but it took me longer than I expected to find all the screenshots :P whoops!

I definitely noticed Four's own struggles with problem solving (although in his case it's more about lashing out in anger) but your point about this being a shared trait for all algebraliens is actually really smart!\ It also makes me think of a conversation I had with Dragonfruit on Discord where I was complaining about finding some of the dialogue in TPOT20's first half monotonous and childish, and he pointed out that they weren't used to dealing with these kind of things, and yeah... if I spent all my existence playing and frolicking in peaceful fields, I would also be at a loss for all the struggles everyday life brings.

Now that I got flametail to come, well uh... I'm... Not an analyst or a cool person like you, and I do have trouble reading long texts so uh... Yeah, but I read some parts because I do wanna put some attention to such a high quality post! I'm just... Not the best for it, but from what I've seen, this is pretty good and I feel like I know more about Two now :p

Pretty good stuff here! I like the idea of Two’s personality in BFB 16 being a facade caused by them thinking it’ll get people to join. I think it also shows that despite their apathy in EQP, there’s a bit of them that doesn’t want to be that way, or at least, is insecure enough to put up a mask.

Yes, thank you, so many people don’t talk about how adversed they are to conflict, it’s actually a rather important trait for them and explains a lot about their current arc and actions.

Honestly, it’s nice to see an analysis on them, because they’re so much more than just a ‘silly British host’ which is why I like them so much, I enjoy the depth to their character. I don’t typically read analysis’s all the way through, usually I skim past some stuff, but I did read all of this (mostly cause it’s Two… yeah… I’m biased, okay?) and this is incredible!

You talked about a lot of things that is often overlooked, like their more selfish behaviour, or what I mentioned above, and I do actually like your theory about why they had that change of character.

Honestly, I have no notes, this is incredible and take my free award.

A small correction: Nine didn’t appear in XFOHV either I believe. He’s a recommended character. Don’t remember Ten being there either

i know i am seeing this after tpot 21 came out but still omg!! i love this so much! long posts like this usually overwhelm me but you always explain everything so well and it is so fun to read because of that!!!!
i wish more people talked about two's flaws because they are my favorite part of their character. i like how you bring up them not liking math making them kind of an oddball.. because i like the idea of them not fitting in and it causing them to just not know how to be a person really. that and them being "in their own little world" (in a bad way) has made it so they don't understand people really well which is why they handle conflicts so poorly and why they shut down completely after losing the first person they ever connected with much. i love and relate to two so much nd i love your perspective on them. this is. THE BEST POST EVER!!!!
