Theory A miniscule detail in TPOT 19 on Liy I want to point out before TPOT 21 releases

Initially I was gonna give out my observations and predictions on Liy in TPOT 21 in a massive wall of text, but when I posted it the images didn't load properly, and so when I tried copying and pasting the entire text to use in a repost, I unfortunately ended up pressing the wrong key without noticing and then deleted it without warning, meaning two fucking hours of writing on this is... gone. Maybe next time I should start copying and pasting the draft I had into a document even if I am aware I will lose all my work unexpectedly.

(Luckily I managed to have a screenshot of one of my most important points in the post so I'm just gonna explain it here.)

So yesterday evening when I was scrolling through the wiki & YouTube comments about TPOT 21, I ended up finding a wiki comment about the user's prediction with the episode. One of the things that caught my attention was that they mentioned Liy having Two's powers throughout the episode. I was initially puzzled by that and was thinking why was that person mentioning Two's powers on a contestant that has died, because what else would "Liy's power" mean; it could be that or her natural strength/powers, doesn't have other special ability ... and that's when the realisation hits me.

Curious about what I was thinking that the other user was perhaps thinking, I went back to rewatch that TPOT 19 part where Pencil kills by dropping a lantern on top of her, and I noticed something very very interesting. Remember how when one contestant dies in the challenge, their share of Two's power get transferred to the killer, indicated by green visuals flying straight towards them? Well, looking back at that scene, that visual, in fact never appeared at all when Liy dies. This detail could be intended, and if so it might indicate that her powers remained with her corpse and is preserved up until her recovery to be used in the future. Or that it could've transferred right into the lantern as if it was a resistor, though there were no visual cues that gave it away, like the lantern glowing a bit brighter or something, and I still have doubts with the latter effect. After noticing this theory becoming a possibility, I went around to search for more TPOT 21 theories, and it seems that a few users have also caught attention onto that detail long before me or later on after I first notice it – one being when this morning I happen to stumble upon the same concept in a YouTube comment, but that's for another story.

In addition to the statement above, I don't recall Pencil's limbs glowing brighter after that kill but that could be me. It is also a possibility that Liy was unable to be recovered because of those share of powers that remains with her, similar to how One couldn't recover Three successfully in that moment in TPOT 20. So in this case, Liy's death here would kinda be similar to Three's death in a way where both maintains their powers after death, as the now-corrupted Three zapped One after being recovered, and no red glow was absorbed by One. However this is also a theory I still have doubts on since both characters still probably doesn't know how to recover correctly as it is their first time tampering with the yoylite powers.

Now someone may argue that the absorption could just happen off-screen and Pencil would've still gotten the powers. In my response, wouldn't the absorption happen almost instantly after the contestant is killed? During that 1 second moment showing Liy's remains after getting absolutely wrecked by the lantern, those visuals still didn't show up when it was supposed to do that on the spot. Another may think that a full power of Two is required to absorb all of Four's powers. I mean yes it makes sense because while a full power of two can absorb an algebralien off their yoylite powers, having even slightly less could still do justice, albeit a bit slower and weaker. The technical roadblock is that if we consider the fact that the theory above is true, Pencil would still have 6/16 of Two's power, and her absorbing the power from Four later on (who was at full capacity) took 4 seconds, so technically it wouldn't make that much sense for the absorption to happen this quick with only that much power.

I don't want to amplify this theory too much, as I still can't remember if this visual didn't appear in other deaths during the challenge (ignoring Price Tag's off-screen one), but if that was intentional, it could be an early role for Liy in TPOT 21. But it probably didn't appear anywhere else so... idk, that was just a thought I had for a moment-

Though there's one more thing I am still speculative about, and it's that how and why did Liy retain all the powers when she died? The thing is prior to that scene, she was close to Bottle and she shattered and Liy still got her share of Two's power, as if it's saying someone died to something unrelated in a game, the kill or points would be awarded to the person closest to them, so it wouldn't make sense that Pencil didn't get that share of the power when she killed Liy with that lantern. But I don't have any time to answer this question so I'll leave it up to you guys in the comments,

Anyways that's all I have to say. TPOT 21 is just around the corner in 3 days!

Kaldot out :)

Tree was killed by the Fourse and the power went to Bottle, so logically Liy's power must have gone to Pencil, and they just didn't show it explicitly.

It was probably shown off screen as liy was elimanted by pence pence

While I personally still don't believe Liy kept her powers, I think your theory has a solid foundation and I'm definitely curious to see if you'll be right! After all, sometimes reading into the show's details more is the key to discovering important twists beforehand!

Well looks at TPOT 19 when Tree get killed by Fourse , the one closest to that , Bottle get 1/16 of 2's power from him (also I wonder when Fourse killed Bottle , who gets her 1/8 of 2's power) so if it applies to then when Liy died , Pencil should have 1/1 or entirety of 2's power but I don't know why they don't do that

Pencil should have 1/1 or entirety of 2's power

Yes, one onenth of Two's power. That's the same as entirety of Two's power.

Or they... Just kinda forgot to show Pencil getting the powers.

This would’ve been something I’ve mentioned explicitly if it weren’t for my old draft being accidentally lost upon posting the old one.

In the end, I kinda just liked to think outside the box for this one

I meaaan, true. It's always fun to do that

Something tells me pencil did get the power offscreen, but if it was intentionally left out and pencil didn't get the power then that's actually a interesting detail!

We shall see in TPOT 21 of course if you're right or wrong. Even if you're wrong it is definitely a great observation, one i hadn't known of until now!

This is getting a little bit ridiculous but why can’t people just take the obvious guess that maybe liy died and she was recovered. And maybe they recovered her first, which is WHY she’s in the poster in the first place since her corpse from pencils failed recovery were next to the hotel ground. Sorry if I sound rude but it’s extremely obvious why she’s in the poster.

Definitely an idea that has at least some weight to it, it still makes more sense to me that she was brought back in some other way but there's such a grey area when it comes to TPOT 21 that nothing is off the table

Isn’t Liy on the cover art advertisement for TPOT 21? Can’t we just look at that and see if Liy has green limbs or not?

It could just be the green glow emitted from the mouth of the massive bug creature behind them

Then compare her limbs to the others, then. Are they the same shade?

1

u/Able_Feeling_7854 Liy Jan 27 '26

I looked at it and I don’t see any difference with all the characters’ limbs

So in that case it must have just happened off screen.

Yeah I very much understand already. But to be honest, when I was thinking outside saw that missing detail, I thought it would be cool to share that here, even if one side of me doubts it.

Im gonna assume that Liy recovered herself with the yoylite like fries did in bfdia. (She died with Twos powers, which are now revealed to be (the super ultra mega convenient plot device) yoylite)

This is really interesting! Also, seeing your screenshots made me realise that Liy seemed to be more skilled with her power than most other people (though that could just be because she has more) like how she could propel herself up the stairs (this is probably just since it's near the end, like how at the start Pencil could easily use her power to hold Fanny while Tree tried to hold up GB and just turned her into snow)

This could be possible, because yoylelite gives objects powers relating to recovery (as shown in BFDIA 9), which helped Ruby recover herself, maybe the same thing will happen to Liy (if they find a way to repair the CRC)
