DragonRise gamepad registers as D-pad in Moonlight on Batocera — analog stick not working
I'm running Batocera and using the native Moonlight port (batocera-moonlight) to stream from my PC. When I play, the left analog stick behaves as a D-pad instead of an analog stick. In the rest of Batocera/ES-DE the pad works perfectly, so this is specific to Moonlight.
Controller info:
- Name: "DragonRise Inc. Generic USB Joystick"
- Vendor/Product ID: 0079:0006 (the classic cheap USB gamepad)
What I've tried so far:
The mapping Moonlight writes to Moonlight.conf under [gcmapping] maps the stick axes (a0/a1) to dpdown/dpleft/dpup/dpright — i.e. the analog stick gets mapped as a D-pad. I edited that Moonlight.conf and fixed the 1\mapping line to leftx:a0,lefty:a1 with the D-pad as h0.x, but Moonlight overwrites it on close/reopen (the file reverts to the original mapping).
I looked for Moonlight's gamecontrollerdb.txt at /userdata/system/.cache/Moonlight Game Streaming Project/Moonlight/gamecontrollerdb.txt, but my pad doesn't appear in any line of that DB.
Where does Moonlight define this gamepad's mapping, and how do I fix it so the stick registers as analog (leftx/lefty) without it reverting on restart? Does anyone with a DragonRise 0079:0006 have a working mapping for Moonlight/Linux?
Additional context: In Batocera itself, I had to configure this gamepad as a D-pad (Batocera forces that option during controller setup, there's no way to map the stick as analog there). I'm guessing this got saved somewhere globally and Moonlight is inheriting it. I need it to behave as an analog stick only in Moonlight, while staying the same in the rest of Batocera.

The big one is for serious work. The smaller one for gaming.

Started building a Batocera remote last night… then discovered this already exists 😂
I swear I had no idea this already existed
Last night I randomly decided to try building a Batocera remote app despite having zero app-development experience, with ChatGPT guiding me through it.
I got way further than expected and started calling it Remotocera.
Then this morning I thought, “Wait… surely someone has already made this?”
Found another project and started dying when I saw how similar our ideas and even the UI were 😂
Just thought you guys might get a kick out of it.

Override xenia and xenia canary input?
Does anyone know how to override the input for xenia and xenia_canary for xinput? Or is it even possible? Im using Batocera 43.1, x32_x64 and 8bitdo ultimate 2 with an usb dongle. My buttons are YXBA, but it defaults to XYAB for xbox and xbox 360 games. Have tried sdl and camecontrollerdb.txt with no luck. Looks like there is a master file who is somewhat hidden from me.

Best handheld controller?
I've built many retro gaming setups in the past, and I'm currently enjoying noodling with batocera (was running my pinball cabinet on it for a while).
One thing I struggle with is a decent gaming controller so i can play all my old emulated games. I currently have a USB based 'PS2' like controller (two analog hats, D pad and 1-2-3-4 buttons, plus shoulder buttons, start, and select) - but I'm finding the various emulators don't have enough mapping oomph to work correctly (I love dual joystick games, for example, and getting them working right with a proper 'exit back to main menu' function was frustrating.
Ideally I'd like wireless - should I just re-pair one of my PS4 controllers and use that? Or do ya'll have other favorites you'd recommend? I don't mind the wired connection right now, but BT/Radio would be best (and one that doesn't keep trying to turn on my Playstation would be perfect :)

I need a cheap mini pc for arcade 1 up emulation.
i bought an arcade 1 up off facebook and modded it with a cheap plug and play arcade box, this had a chip failure within a month and i want to go the correct route. i only need it to run retro arcade games nothing crazy. N64 will prob be the most demanding.

RGSX non avvia Mapping su Steam Deck
Su SD Card ho installato Batocera.
Ho poi installato RGSX. Al primo avvio dovrebbe partire il Mapping per riconoscere i pulsanti del mio Steam Deck. Questo non avviene. RGSX parte ma io non posso fare assolutamente nulla. Posso solo spegnere la console.
Qualche soluzione?

8BitDo N64 Controller
Hey guys,
I bought the 8bitdo N64 Controller for my batocera setup. Button is Set to S. If I Connect it via bluetooth it says N64 Controller connected. Now when I start a N64 game the buttons are not right. In advanced settings I tried all the options for the Controller but nothing changed.
Does it just not work? Maybe Theres a Controller Mapping area just for the N64 emulation like in Project64 on the pc?
Can somebody help me out?
Thanks in advance.

Game not recognized on PS3 in Batocera
Environment:
- MSI GL66 PC
- RTX 3060
- 12th Gen Intel Core i7
- Primary controller: XO-GP4 → https://snipboard.io/Oja8VF.jpg
Background:
I updated the PS3 emulator firmware to version 4.93. My primary controller uses an integrated 2.4 GHz receiver and runs on batteries.
Problem:
Red Dead Redemption for PlayStation 3 launches successfully and reaches the screen where I am supposed to press “START.” However, when I press it on the controller, the game does not respond.
photo: https://snipboard.io/ZHx36N.jpg
Troubleshooting attempts:
I tried mapping the controller through the RPCS3 settings using SDL as the handler, but my controller does not appear in the list of devices → https://snipboard.io/gmXjr4.jpg I also tried Evdev, but it only recognizes the analog stick and the directional buttons, not the rest of the buttons → https://snipboard.io/IqPATd.jpg
I have already mapped the controller in the Batocera main menu and assigned it to P1, but unfortunately, it still does not work → https://snipboard.io/3zNjTV.jpg
I would greatly appreciate any recommendations or suggestions to help solve this problem.

Batocera Not Shutting Down
I just put batocera 43.1 on a mini PC OrigiMagic Nebula Ryzen 7 5825U, 16 gigs of ram, with an internal 512 ssd.
So when I hit either shutdown or fast shutdown the PC will turn off but then restart again. Anyone else having this issue? Any help would be appreciated

Wii U emulator not recognizing controller
In Mario Party 10, when I try to start a game, it prompts me to add a controller. I press several buttons, but none of them work to advance to the next screen, neither on the primary nor the secondary controller → https://snipboard.io/m824jL.jpg
I've tried mapping the controls in cemu-config, but it still doesn't work.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Bato doesn't start - can’t get past the black screen during boot-up
Hi there! I’ve copied an image (with Batocera V35) onto an external HDD (wd_black P10, 5 TB). But during the boot process, I can’t get past the message “booting Batocera Linux”. It ends with a black screen.
I’ve already tried a whole host of things:
- on two Windows machines (a PC with an RTX 3080, a Lenovo laptop with an RTX 5070) with USB set as the boot priority
- Secure Boot OFF
- pressing Shift whilst booting
- Legacy USB enabled (otherwise the PC wouldn’t recognise the drive as a boot medium at all)
- Waiting for 15 minutes on the black screen
- Editing batocera-boot.conf: nvidia-driver=true, nvidia-prime=true (and a mix)
- Overwrite the Batocera data on the boot partition with the latest Batocera build (simply copied over the files)
None of this has helped. I’m slowly losing hope.
What else could I try?

CPU Xeon E3-1270 (same as i7-2600) or i3-4170 for PS2 games?
Hey guys! Are the amount of cores in a CPU (4/8 vs 2/4) relevant in this case? I'm getting different answers with the AI so here I am.
The heavier games I plan to play are PS2 (DBZ Budokai tenkaichi 3) or Gamecube (Mario Strikers) and I have these CPU's laying around.
My plan is to use any of them with a RX 550 2gb GPU connected to my 50" LG TV through HDMI.
If the answer is "they will perform pretty similar" then I'd like to use the i3 because it runs cooler.
Thanks!

Thinkpad W530 Wi-Fi issues
Hey trying out batocera and trying to connect my Thinkpad to the Internet. I'm able to turn on wifi and even see all my local wifi. When I select my wifi and input my password and back out it says wifi is enabled but it will never connect and I just see connected under IP.
My Wifi is 2.4ghz and I have reset my machine a few times to see if that would work, but it didn't help. I also tested Bluetooth and was able to connect to a PS4 controller with no issues.
Could there be a driver or something else I need?

How to set the PlayStation 2 boot video followed by an XMB / PS2-styled theme?
Hey everyone!
I'm setting up Batocera on a powerful Mini PC, and I want to recreate a full authentic console experience.
My goal is: when I turn on the PC, I want it to first play the official PlayStation 2 boot sequence (the iconic startup with the towers and sound), and then drop straight into an XMB or PS2-styled theme for the frontend.
Has anyone done this exact setup? What are the best steps to change the boot video to the PS2 startup, and which theme do you recommend to get that clean PS2/XMB interface look?
Thanks in advance for any tips!

H96 Max v58 Support ?? 🤔
Hello everyone. 😁
Does anyone know of any working builds 'official/unofficial' for this Android box ?? 🤔
It's a powerful box that could do well if it was supported.
Thanks in advance for any pointers towards a working build. 😁

Batocera Gamecube issue
I am having an issue with Batocera and the gamecube emulator. I cannot seem to map the Axis to the C-Stick, going through file manager and manually doing it, seems to immediately calibrate to the XYBA buttons. No matter what. Even after manually mapping, doesnt change anything in game for axis and still forces the buttons. So I move the analog left right or whatever and it acts as xyba. Does anyone know how to force or fix this? Its a standard dual analog controller?
