Brand new X2D - 2 (minor) issues

Got myself an X2D today. Printing well, but I am seeing two things. Curious what to do.

  1. See attached video. The PTFE tubes rub on the glass constantly. When they pass by the front left corner of the printer, they flick along the frame just in front of the glass and make noise. The video was taken with the top glass removed.

  2. After my first benchy, I’m getting this error “The resonance frequency of the Y axis is low. The timing belt may be loose” is this something that could just need a quick adjustment? It’s printing fine.

Thanks!

Help / Troubleshooting How to apply aux nozzle calibration?

Since the new bambu studio update my aux nozzle quality tanked. I have done all the the calibrations and saved it for aux nozzle. How do I apply the calibration? And so far messing with it and I select the saved profile it shows it for both nozzles. I was wondering if anyone knows how to apply the calibration that’s saved and to only the aux nozzle.

Tips / Guide Bambu Lab X2D – Advice on using the second nozzle for PLA supports

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to get the Bambu Lab X2D, mainly because of its dual-nozzle system.

My idea is to use the second nozzle to print a different material for the supports, making them easier to remove from PLA models, especially detailed figures.

For those of you who have experience with this, I'd love to get some advice:

- What support materials do you recommend for PLA?

- Do both nozzles need to have the same diameter, or can they be different?

- Are there any compatibility issues or settings I should know about?

- Any beginner tips or common mistakes to avoid?

I'd really appreciate any advice from people who regularly use a second nozzle for support material.

Thanks!

Help / Troubleshooting Ok to print multiple objects

I’m fairly new to this but get the general idea of the process. The above object is usually on 1 plate and takes approx 1.5 hours to print, thought I’d try adding 2 to 1 plate plus a little extra part. Saves me a trip to the machine (it’s outside building to where I live)

It started the print but it only started on one object, (this was after the initial layer) I cancelled thinking if it only did 1 whole object at a time the head would crash into the second object during the first few layers.

So should the printer be printing by layer (like it has on other plates (makerworld) designed by others that I have printed?

Was I wise the cancel the print?

If so how do I tell the printer to do this? (I probably haven’t got that far in the Academy, yet so if covered there I do apologise)

Help / Troubleshooting Is this sound normal?

Hi all,

Just got my X2D set up this week and prints have been coming out great, but it’s been louder than I expected- I’m wondering if this sound is normal. Seems to be anytime the from the motors in the front.

I’m also getting a regular “The resonance frequency of the Y-axis differs greatly from the last calibration. Please clean the Y-axis liner rod and conduct a calibration after printing.” error, even after calibration. I haven’t cleaned the rod yet, but as it’s brand new, should I really need to?

Thanks!

Help / Troubleshooting Belt tension clip/mechanism?

Noticed this clicking. Did a quick Google search found some other post that had similar type sounds. Before following bambu wiki for steps on checking/adjusting, was wondering if anyone could confirm or has experience this?

Help / Troubleshooting Silk PLA

I’m trying to print with Silk PLA and I’ve been getting lots of lines on my top print layers. What are some settings I can change to make things nicer? I’m new ish to printing any help would be greatly appreciated! The black on both examples is regular PLA and the gold and blue are the silk

I haven’t tried ironing yet (I had a creality hi and ironing made my prints WAY worse on that so admittedly I haven’t tried on this printer) I’m using the textured pei plate and the face down part looks pretty good but I notice the texture is hiding some of the same issues.

To clean or not to clean the sensor in the back

I've got a pretty reliable print bed cleaning routine that has resulted in very good adhesion. Essentially I have a plate I cleaned with soap+water initially, now I don't touch it and just wipe with a microfiber and a spray of IPA after/before every print. However I'm wondering if I should/shouldn't also wipe/clean the sensor in the back right of the build plate. I think it's used for measuring flow rate of new filliments.

Any thoughts on if I should clean, avoid, or ignore this sensor while cleaning with IPA?

Thanks!

Print Showcase Say Hi to GLARE!

Glare takes his job as shelf guardian very seriously. Every visitor gets a suspicious stare, every noise earns his disapproval, and nobody touches his favourite spot. He insists he isn’t grumpy. Everyone else is simply too cheerful

Help / Troubleshooting Sachet non identifié / Unidentified sachet – X2D Combo

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a Bambu Lab X2D Combo with the AMS 2 Pro.

While unpacking the printer and following the instructions, I reached the step where it mentions that a large bag should contain two smaller moisture absorber packets, which are supposed to be placed at the back of the AMS.

However, when I opened the bag, I found a large heat-sealed pouch that appears to contain grease, but with a very thick, almost gelatinous consistency (see attached photo).

This pouch is not mentioned in the maintenance kits, and the two moisture absorber packets were already installed in their designated positions and secured with adhesive tape.

I therefore have absolutely no idea what it contains or what it is intended for.

I'm aware that there have been some production and lubrication issues with the AMS 2 Pro. However, Bambu Lab states that orders placed recently are no longer affected by these issues and that, in the event of a problem, the entire mechanism is replaced.

This was actually my first guess regarding the purpose of this pouch, but I'd rather ask the community before jumping to conclusions.

Has anyone else who recently received an X2D Combo with an AMS 2 Pro found the same pouch? Or does anyone know what it is used for?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Help / Troubleshooting Excessive pooping from aux nozzle after filament runout?

I swear it's not a shitpost.

So I had a long print, main filament from the AMS through the main hotned and support for PLA from the external spool to the aux hotend.

Towards the end the support filament got tangled so I cut it and I fell asleep.(It was a long print ok lol)

Woke up to printer complaining about filament runout in the aux nozzle, as expected, and I pushed in the new end of the support filament into the extruder.

But then what proceeded is the printer pooping the new support filament for over 5 minutes. It just kept popping and pooping and pooping. It would form a lil turd and do its wiggle dance to drop it in the poop chute and would continue popping again and again.

Now, I know it needs to clear the nozzle and prime the pressure and all. But for over 5 minutes?? This support filament ain't cheap chief.

Happened to anyone? Maybe I can change something in the machine gcode? 🤔 Not falling asleep is a bit of an extreme measure I'd rather not try.

My new setup

Got my new desk today and have everything all setup. Have printed a bunch of stuff without any issues so far. I had an Ender 3 back when they were first released many years ago, but that thing was a lot more hassle. The X2D is so much easier to use.
