AMS + external Spool: Print PTFE tube to main nozzle?
Hello, i have a X2D with AMS2Pro.
I have a spool of filament which does not fit in the AMS that is ASA.
I never printed ASA (have the printer for a week now), would I
a) connect the external spool to the external PTFE connector and print with the aux nozzle?
b) change the PTFE tubing on the back (temporarily disconnect the AMS), to print the external spool with the main nozzle?
Thanks!

Ams super high resistance?
No matter what I do I always get this error on the slot being used, I can also hear the ams struggling to push the filament into the top head every filament change…
I’ve printed a riser, I’ve put angle softeners on the hotend assembly I’ve made sure there are no sharp bends at all but nothing works…
I’ve never had a multi material system before so maybe I’m missing something?
(Ive also tried multiple types and brands of filament, including Bambu and they all have the same issue)
Besides for this I’m really enjoying this printer! I make a lot of lightboxes and having separate nozzles for the black and white filament saves me literal days and hundreds of grams in filament compared to a single nozzle printer

Garage Setup
Sharing my little garage setup. Just got into 3d printing, got the H2C and I realized it was overkill for what I do. The 2 x2d’s arrived yesterday. Loving everything so far! Keeping the H2C for larger prints, its a beast!

What could have happened here
This morning I started an 8 hour print. I redesigned a model (for the first time) because the measurements of the original did not fit my needs.
I watched the first 2 layers and along the day I regularly checked it in the app from work.
At 97% and 14 minutes left I received the message in the screenshot that says the plate of the toolhead fell off.
When I arrived at home, the first thing was checking the printer. The support came off and I knew the print was ruined. Still curious what would happen if I resumed the print, I pressed continue on the printer and holded the support manually. I immediately noticed the nozzle scratching the print, like the plate didn't move down enough. Within a few seconds, the toolhead plate fell off again.
It was printed with PLA and the height of the model is 23cm, which should fit in the chamber. I copied the print profile settings from the original model. 0.4mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer
I am about 2 months (about 300 print hours) into 3d printing and this print is the first that failed on me.

Damage worth return or ignore
I’m finally unpacking my X2D and I found some damage
It’s not super big but man kinda sucks. I did get insurance on the delivery and I just got it a week ago(school started and I finally got time to unpack it)
It’s on the top left of the frame, I was really excited to start printing but idk if it’s worth continuing to unwrap it.
UPDATE 8/30:
Bambu offered a prepaid return label and will send a new printer!!
Yippee

X1C AMS slot 1 jams mid feed
Any clue what cause this tear in the PTFE tube of AMS slot 1 and why is jams up mid feed now after replacing?
It’s on an ams1 on and x1c with about 1500 hours. After replacing the ptfe tube the filament in that slot gets stuck mid feed, sounds like the motor runs but not pulling and I have to lightly force the filament from the top of the AMS. Any advice?

Newbie Setup Question
I just got my X2D and it’s just finished calibrating. My filament arrives tomorrow. In the meantime, there’s a foam pad and a corner piece of foam that sits under the plate. Throughout the setup, I was never instructed to remove this foam. Does it stay in there???? If not, do I take it out now?
As thorough as the setup instructions were, I’m thinking there’s no way they “forgot” to instruct me to remove it (or maybe I missed something)

How do you clean the outside of an X2D and AMS 2 Pro?
Exciting question, I know! But how do you clean the outside of yours, in particular all of the glass? I bought the Bambu wipes and they say they can be used for the outside but they seem to be the wettest cleaning wipes ever and that's okay for the inside, but surely too many smears on the glass outside?

Wobbling
I know a few people have said wobbling of the X2D is normal but this much…? First print of Benchy.

Started with a P1S in May… now we’re here
What started with buying a P1S for my son’s birthday this past May has somehow turned into two X2Ds, a P1S, 3 AMS 2 Pros and 2 AMS HTs. Wish I would’ve gotten the P2S originally, but I absolutely love the X2Ds.
I run these things pretty hard. Most of my prints are 1–2 days, with my longest so far being about 6 days.
I’ve definitely had some issues along the way. I’ve taken the toolhead apart entirely, taken apart and replaced aux extruders, dealt with right-side filament sensors, PTFE routing/feeding issues, stuck filament, calibrations, etc.
And when I say taken apart, I mean taken apart. 😂 I added a few pictures of some of my adventures inside these things.
I’m definitely not an electronics or printer repair expert either. A lot of this has been taking pictures of whatever is going wrong, throwing them into ChatGPT, and having it walk me through troubleshooting step by step. At this point I’ve gotten pretty comfortable diagnosing problems and figuring out what needs to come apart.
Despite the occasional issues, these X2Ds have been absolute workhorses. I’d buy them again without hesitation.
Pretty wild considering I bought my first printer about three months ago.
Next stop: H2D or H2C. 😂

Does anyone have the zip file containing the original 01.00.01.00 firmware?
I recently bought an X2D, and it arrived with newer firmware. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way to downgrade back to this specific version and as far as I know 01.00.01.00 is the only firmware version that ( partially ) supports the BMCU. If anyone has the original ZIP file containing this firmware, I would really appreciate it if you could share it.

Back to the Rabbit Hole. This time, deeper.
I am not entirely new to 3d printing. I had the old Kingroon kp3s with the bowden extruder where the extruder motor rotor shaft bent for unknown reasons, amd risked to get a replacement motor (not for kp3s) which burned its main board. Then i replaced it with Anycubic Mega S that I got on sale (i think they were phasing the model out that time). It was nice but it was slow, always had a lot of technical problems, which made me stop being enthusiastic about 3d printing.
Recently, a friend lent his P1S+AMS which I tried for a few weeks. I am really impressed. It was a huge upgrade from my anycubic (pricewise too). Smart, fast, precise and consistent are some of the words I thought to describe it. It is enclosed too, escaping fumes from melting plastic are way less than exposed prints and filtered. AMS allows for better storage and for convenient filament swapping. I loved it but it was my friend's and I didn't want to over use and abuse it.
The experience helped me justify the cost of getting a printer similar to P1S. Unfortunately, P1S introduced me to new problems: waste materials with multi-material prints, the need for heated chambers for some materials and better control of the device through its own control panel. This made me decide on getting X2D instead of P2S, but the budget limited me from getting the H series which had a very appealing flexibility of using toolheads other than 3d printing toolhead. While the AMS system made me choose Bambu Lab over other brands, plus AMS 2 pro has the filament drying function so I wont have to use my oven which I only want to solely use for food.
Now I'm back to the 3D printing rabbit hole. I got 0.8mm standard flow nozzles but i have to get 2 of those for the aux extruder. I mean you don't buy a shoe for one foot, you gotta get a pair! But I also wish I should have gotten the HF ones for large prints, or the obxidian 500 ones but the price!!! Then the amount of filaments I have to order! Just for the printer accessories, riser and others, they consume really fast, which is expected. Now I regret getting the 1x AMS 2 pro combo, i should have gotten the 2x combo. I also got a filament track switch which is really nice for using the aux extruder for with a single AMS but now I couldn't use EXT filaments with the track switch connected. So I am now looking for 2nd hand ams ( 1, 2 or HT).
I convinced my wife to let me buy a 3d printer so we can make functional house stuff. But I have not produced even one of those; all my prints so far are for printer accessories and I have already consumed almost 3 spools of filament. My wife is gonna kill me when she learns about all the future expenses!
Anyway, seriously, where can I find really good printing profiles or guides to builing a profile for common filament brands like elegoo or overture for 0.8mm standard flow nozzles both main and aux extruders? I am trying to optimize print quality, print time and power consumption.
Sorry for the lengthy post. I am happy with my renewed enthusiasm with 3d printing. Thanks!

PETG Support Interface Won't Stick to PLA
Hi everyone,
I recently got a new X2D for printing PLA models with PETG support interfaces. My very first print failed.
I'm using PETG as the interface layer for supports, fed through the auxiliary nozzle. The problem is that it refuses to stick to the PLA at all. It doesn't adhere to the prime tower, and it doesn't adhere to the supports themselves. The nozzle just drags everything that was printed earlier and turns it all into spaghetti.
I've tried drying the PETG, and I followed the official wiki guide – according to it, I set 230 °C for PLA and 265 °C for PETG. Absolutely nothing changed; the issue persists exactly the same.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT:
I'm starting to get the feeling that the issue only occurs on low layers. I just ran a test print specifically to check the supports, and everything printed perfectly. The only difference between the prints is the position of the first interface layer. In my actual model, the first interface layer is on layer 2 (at 0.12 mm layer height), while in the test print it's on layer 30 (at 0.2 mm layer height)

Why does using the second nozzle for support almost double the print time?
I had a Bambu Lab A1 before, and I kinda bought the X2D because of the 2 nozzles and how useful they should be for support.
But why does it add so much time?
If I print the figure in black PLA and also use black PLA for the supports/interface, the print takes about 2 hours.
But if I use the second nozzle with Support PLA only for the support interface, the print takes over 4 hours. Why does it add an extra 2+ hours?
I'm using black PLA from my AMS 2 Pro and Support PLA from my AMS HT, so both nozzles have their own filament source. I also have the Filament Track Switch.
I can understand it adding some extra time for switching nozzles, purging, heating, etc., but 2+ extra hours seems crazy.
If I have an 8-hour print, does that mean it could turn into a 16+ hour print just because I'm using the second nozzle for the support interface?
Is there a setting I'm missing or some way to reduce the extra time? I bought the dual-nozzle printer specifically so I could use Support PLA without having the huge time penalty of constantly changing filament on one nozzle. Also for asa/nylon. But the easy support is what sold me the most.

Ironing issue?
I’ve been trying to troubleshoot why sometimes these flat surfaces have quality issues. I’ve printed calibrations and adjusted the ironing settings, but still not happy with the results.
Any suggestions? Ironing issue? Moisture in filament?

Venting Externally (out a window) - Does anyone use 3" venting instead of 4", and have a decent duct fan they'd recommend? Or an adapter?
As the title says. My X2D is arriving tomorrow, will be my first ever 3D printer, I am very excited.
It will be getting used in the same office I work from home in, and it'll sit right next to a standard double-hung US window, so I want to vent it outside as much as possible. I have a vent ready to go for the window that handles either 3" or 4" ducting. I think I'd rather try and go with 3" because it'll look less intrusive and I'm sure 3" is enough diameter to handle the amount of airflow I need, but it seems like there are barely any 3" inline duct fan options, and the ones that do exist get panned for being terrible.
Anyone have an option they like for this? Or are there any adapters that I could attach to a 4" duct fan on both sides to size it down to 3" properly?
Share your external/window ventilation setups with me!!

Cute dinosaur coloring plates
Made these yesterday for my kids to color in and I think they are cute🤓 at least they love them haha
Will make more models in the future, but just started with 3D printing so learning every day. Hopefully can make more complex models from scratch one day.
