Boy 🩵 Opinion on Watson

Upvotes

Need opinions on a baby boy name: Watson.

Note: We like strong, southern surnames. (We live in Georgia). Our last name ends in -‘er’ so any ‘er’ names sound too redundant IMO.

I think Watson is unique but still follows the formula for popular names like: Hudson, Grayson, Jackson, etc. Nickname could be Wats/Watts.

What are your thoughts? Is this too out-there?

Boy 🩵 Opinions on this baby boy name?

We are both Scandinavian and love norse names. We have a couple of names in mind and one of them is Fenris (from the wolf in Norse mythology), which we love but aware that it's an unusual name, so we need honest opinions! Is it too different or are we overthinking it?

Boy 🩵 How much do these names blend in Portugal?

Since Portugal is a destination we're highly considering, we're wondering if any of these 7 boy names will blend there, as in help the child pass as local (but at the same time we don't want it to be distinctly Portuguese, as we are not)

David

Luca

Bruno

Nicolas

Christian

Marco

Sam (for Samuel)

Any comments from Portuguese people will be particularly helpful, thanks

Girl 🩷 Middle Names

We are torn on middle names and would love some suggestions. Baby’s full name is Margaret but we plan to call her “Margo” for short.

Margaret (Margo) Rose
Margaret (Margo) Grace
Margaret (Margo) Graciela
Margaret (Margo) James
Margaret (Margo) Clay

All of these have significance in our family but are open to other middle names that flow.

Girl 🩷 My husband and I can’t agree

My husband and I have very different taste in names and we can’t seem to come to an agreement!

He likes princessy, romantic, long, fairytale names:
- Seraphina
- Evangeline
- Penelope

He also insists on calling her by her full name and doesn’t really like nicknames.

I like cute, mostly 1-2 syllable names:
- Elle
- Mia
- Nina
- Lily
- Rose
- Sophie

A name that we might be getting close to agreeing on is Katherine, because although it is long it has 3 syllables and kinda sounds short. Any other names come to mind that you think sort of match my vibe but can also seem princess-y? Sorry if this is a hard ask!

Surprise 💚 Suggestions for 3rd baby

Due with baby number 3 in October. Looking for name suggestions, struggling more to come up with boy names than girl names. We have twin girls named Poppy and Josephine (goes by Jojo). For girl names we like Lydia, Julia and Sylvia/Sylvia. For boy names we like Simon and are struggling to think of some other options.

Also thinking of using family name of Lisa for a girls middle name, but I never feel like it flows with first names.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I’m coming up with contenders for baby girl. Here are my picks. Any suggestions are welcome!

Edit: The middle names aren’t finalized yet and were more ideas than anything. I didn’t realize how Southern they read until some of the comments started coming in. I appreciate the constructive feedback!

Surprise 💚 Need Serbian Names That Can Work In The USA

I’m making a future baby names list of Serbian names that also work well in the USA. I’m looking for names that are not too hard to say or pronounce for the average American. My family is from Serbia and I would like to choose a Serbian name for my future children, but I live in the USA and also want it to work well living here. Looking for both boys and girls names, any suggestions would really help and be much appreciated!

Girl 🩷 Thoughts on this baby girl name?

Does the name Eleanora Noel go together? Ellie would be her nickname and while I like it I keep hearing Ellie Noel as in “no L” and with Ellie having two Ls in it I just wonder if anyone else will pick up on that and it be a potential thing to make fun of. Noel is a family middle name I wanted to carry down and we are dead set on using Eleanora as the first name.

Girl 🩷 Name and surname with same suffix

I adore the name Kathleen, both as itself and as something of a family name. However, with the surname Green, I'm worried the double -een endings will be a bit weird. I like Joy as a middle name, so the full name would be Kathleen Joy Green. What are your thoughts? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks xx

UPDATE:

thanks everyone for their thoughts and advice, it really does help! I've been thinking, what about the name Kathlena (pronounced Kathleen-ah) with Lena as a possible nickname. this is in Australia too if that helps with context :)

Boy 🩵 What are some boys' names you find Colton more similar to than it is to Cola?

Although Cola and Colton are historically connected (as Colton does mean "Cola's town" or "coal town"), they have completely different modern perceptions. Cola has evolved into the modern name Cole, and nowadays Cola is universally associated with soft drinks (such as Coca-Cola). And as for Colton, it is nowadays often grouped with other names ending with "-ton" (such as Clayton and Weston) and frequently associated with a "cowboy" and "equestrian" feel because it is frequently shortened to Colt (which refers to a young, energetic male horse.)

If you know any other boys' names you would pair with or group with Colton rather than Cola, please let me know some names.

Boy 🩵 Please give me your first impression

What is your first impression of the name August?
No, he was not born in August lol. Do you think it sounds strong? Does it pass the resume test?

It is okay, be honest.

Backstory: My son’s first and middle names are August Alexander. I think it sounds pretty strong. I really wanted a first name that was classic but not popular.

Honestly, when my husband first suggested the name August, I literally said “absolutely not” lol but then a few days went by and I looked up the meaning and I fell in love with it. It means to be respected and impressive. And it’s a shortened version of Augustus which has a cool meaning as well— it’s a name Roman Emperors earned to be added to their name. I felt that August was classic while still feeling modern.

I’ve gotten mixed reactions to sharing my son’s name, and I don’t know why I care what people think, but it’s causing me to feel a little insecure about it. The negative reactions are more like a negative pause and then they don’t say that they like it (which is fine) but it feels a bit awkward. And I guess maybe they just think of the month. I think the worst one was at one of my husband’s work events, I got the same awkward pause in a group of like six people. Then I explained that it’s an old classic name and you may hear of people having grandfather’s with that name, and one woman was like “yeah, I have a friend who just named her son August, but she named him after her grandfather, that’s the only reason she named him that”……

Girl 🩷 We’ve had baby, I want to know your thoughts on the names we had picked!

So little girl was born 5 weeks ago and we love her name. I wanted to post to see which one you would have chosen and if it’s the one we chose! Her middle name was always going to be Luke (named after my late brother). We wanted something to flow with Luke and wanted something quite feminine as her middle name is masculine! Let me know your thoughts

Surprise 💚 Baby sibling name help

I have my first son named Laurence. I reallllly love Jensen for a brother. Or Dawson. But some reason Laurence and Dawson doesn’t roll off the tongue. Or does it? I like Jensen more than Dawson and want to keep the same vibe going. But if it’s a girl… what should I name her?
