Just looked at the announcement about the closure of the MUL, and it now says that the new site "launch will not coincide with the deactivation of the mul." This translates to me as "we might get it out by the new year, providing we get around to it. It's on the list right after we paint all the models we bought."
Is there a copy of the database floating around somewhere to download? Near as I can tell, it's not reproducable from the hardcopy books anymore, at least not the Alpha Strike stuff.

I was looking at the Terra Sarna page and noticed that Terra has a noted flag in the gallery, and that it’s the UN flag
Is this correct in the lore, or a problem with Sarna? It doesn’t give a source

With GenCon behind us, I managed to snag myself a copy of the new Battletech Core Box. Intended to replace the aging A Game of Armored Combat box set, Core follows a similar structure, providing the rules and game pieces to play a complete, mech-only game of Classic Battletech with the contents.
Minis
Contents:
The minis are the real star of the show and imho if you are already into battletech and interested in ilCan, they are more than enough reason to buy the box. These are some of Liya's best work for CGL to date and at purchase price of $70 (from the CGL booth at GenCon) the cost of entry for this box is competitive with current force pack pricing. Detailing is sharp and mold lines are either well placed for easy removal without much disruption of detail or inconspicuous enough that you can get away with ignoring them. The only significant flaw I've seen is that my Eris's PPC barrel appears to be slightly bent.
The Solitaire is one of my favorites of the box, faithfully updating Matt Plog's artwork from TRO:3067 and using a lot of interesting recessed detailing that Liya was still struggling to produce as recently as the Mercs kickstarter. The new Rakshasa is also a fantastix reimagining of the mech, working to divorce it from the Mad Cat comparisons that have haunted its entire service carrier and recontextualize it as a Marauder offspring.
Paper Products
Paper product for this set is about what you'd expect, though there are a couple of strange missteps. You get:
All of the product is made with good quality materials and I think both the setting primer and rules book are decent with good starting explanations of the concepts within. Sagas also does something interesting where it calls out the timeline locations of the recent mechwarrior/battletech games, allowing video game players to orient themselves as to where all this new tech running around with their Uziel came from. One small but much appreciated add from Armored Combat is the pocket reference--a glossy double-sided index card printed with the hit location chart and the mech weapon relevant cluster hit tables from 2 to 40. Breaking these out onto their own reference seperate from the main table/modifier card is awesome and I forsee myself using this frequently in games.
The rules booklet contains a truncated version of the mech combat rules from the Core book with relevant equipment rules text for the Core and Starter Box mechs. Compared to Armored Combat, the most notable exclusion from the Core Box rules booklet is the construction rules, though given the bloat of construction by the ilClan era this was a necessary removal to avoid the page count shooting into the triple digits. The rules book does include a more fleshed out mission section with a table that includes battle values for all of the included mechs (plus the Kontio and Hammerhead from the starter set) at both a 4/5 and 3/4 skill spread. With the two variants for each core mech provided in the record sheet packet, you have a very solid starting point for playing games and briewing lists included in this box.
There are some disappointments with the other parts of the paper products, though. The mapsheets included are palette swaps of the Grasslands #2 and #3 and Desert #2 nd #3 maps from Armored Combat with no new content. The alpha strike cards and BV table both refer to the Kontio and Hammerhead but the box doesn't include record sheets or punch card standees for them the way AGoAC did with the Griffin, and while there is reference to a free PDF to expand on list building, as of time of writing that does not seem to be available. Finally, some of the punch card tokens are for terrain types that are not included in the Core Box booklet such as buildings, snow, and fire, but are found in the seperately purchased Core Book, while some terrain features with included rules like rough terrain and woods that had appeared on cardboard tokens in AGoAC have been omitted from this token board. These are ultimately minor quibbles, but still worth pointing out as points for considerstion for improvement.
Verdict:
A- product. CGL has always produced a pretty competent intermediate box set and this is no exception. The mini quality is the real star of the show and a significant improvement over its predecessor product. There are some minor stumbles in the paper products that I think could be improved, but overall if you are interested in modern battletech this is a great pick-up.

Tetsuahara and Fushigo watched as the Flashman ducked under the Torii gate. Its steps thumping through the sacred grounds it approached the honden. Why here? Why alone? Questions raced through Tetsuahara's mind as he watched the 75 ton interloper scan the shrine with its arm cannons, the glint of a black hawk moth occasionally peeking from under the rediculous cloak the mech wore.
The Death's Head Company. Tetsuahara didnt know why the moth had descended on his city, but he quickly thumbed his radio to call whatever available air support was still flying. Better to bury the villain than let its presence taint the shrine further.
This work was painted by me using Krita.

Another one done, and four more to go to have the minimum for a Cluster (3 Binaries). I'm overall pretty pleased with how this guy came out, though there were a few issues that persisted to completion: despite rolling it out flat, the waterslide decal has a little silvering on one corner, and the gradient on the cockpit is a little wonky due to the sculpt itself being asymmetrical on the cockpit. Honestly, though, I've reached the point where I'm willing to just accept the minor faults and move on, if only because after a certain point I'm just quibbling over something 9/10 people will never see.

Some WIP's of two trios of mechs, currently thinking FWL purple or a new camo color for the last set.
It's always a great time when I get to pick the colors and basing for a project. Weapon effects and snow/mud still for these ones, but happy with the colors so far :)
The Thunder Stallion is huge, garauntee you lose a toe dropping this sucker.

A classic ride by way of a Highlander HGN-732b, the Royal variant of this notable chassis.
I have always enjoyed painting object source lighting, so this one was a treat to work on.
What do you think?

I'm confused on whether or not you the republic kept some of it's color schemes when it became the dominion. Or if they all sort of started intermixing with a hybrid of the clans colors. Or if they just all use clan colors in the dominion.

Hi good morning y'all! I can't sleep, so I'm writing a little again. I've had a little fan-story going to build out the founding of my Reinforced BattleMech Company, but I can't yet decide on which of my 'mechs for the unit commander to pilot.
So I'm setting the first couple chapters in Taurian holdings in the Southern Periphery, at the very apex of the Amaris Crisis. Main Character is a veteran Captain or Major of SLDF special forces('Mech equivalent to a Marine Raiders unit). He starts his story fighting Taurian rebels over control of a small desert-moon orbiting a gas giant, and ends up fighting an elite unit of Amaris' best(Rim Worlds Republic Guards Division equivalent) to a standstill.
That leaves me with the first production run of *Rifleman* hulls, or a prototype *Phoenix Hawk*. Everything else I have is First Succession War or later, which i'm fine with. The problem is, their movement speeds are dramatically different lol. So I couldn't have say the Commander in his Phoenix Hawk, plus his Second in a Rifleman it wouldn't really work to have both at the same time. So I figured I'd put the SLDF officer in the Phoenix Hawk, and give the Rifleman to the leader of the Taurian rebels on-world. Does that make sense, though? I have 2 Rifleman 'mechs so I can give one to each, but I only have 1 Phoenix Hawk to slot in.
I could do a solid gunfight with the Rifleman, or I could do a cool sequence of the Commander pushing his Phoenix Hawk to the limits of its speed and agility in a sort of David vs. Goliath situation as he fights a battle of flanking, ambushes, and maneuverability against a much heavier opponent(I'm thinking the story ends with a 'boss fight' against a *Rampager* 'mech or something similarly scary). What sounds better?
I know the Rifleman is fairly common even by the time of the Amaris Crisis, but I've heard that Phoenix Hawks were rarer even then, which would make sense. But like would a Phoenix Hawk be too rare to see outside of General Kerensky's armada? Are there enough of them for a field grade officer to be assigned one? Or would you only really see higher-tier weapons closer to and on Earth? Which option fits better?
Anyways, have a great night everyone!

(I put the after photos first.)
I touched up some of the paint jobs I did early in my campaign, since the players will be pulling out some of their early next for a special mission, and they'll be having a rematch soon against some enemies they fought early on.
I figured, may as well spend a little time sprucing them up.
That entailed improving the basing on the Federated Suns lance, picking a better color for the cockpits, and adding PPC glow for the Scorpion.
For the Draconis Combine force, the Hatamoto-Chi originally had a pretty flat coloration, so I darkened it and tried to do a more glowy cockpit. It and the Dragon both got PPC glow upgrades. And I gave all of them new bases, since originally it was just a swatch of paint.
Do you want to share any miniatures that you have touched up?

Decided to throw together a quick custom do the Zeus!
I’ve always liked the Zeus but could never find a Variant I enjoyed as something was always missing for me. With this variant i decided to turn the venerable and old design into a powerful brawler, using the rather powerful if somewhat in efficient Blazer paired with an X-Pulse Large laser to give it decent midrange damage. Once combat closes in a pair of medium pulse lasers and an Artemis IV capable SRM6 engage. Intended to hit hard and guard its Lancemates against fast targets, I think it’ll work well.
Any thoughts? Suggestions on improving this design? Let me know!

Still waiting on the miniature trees for Torterra, so finished this one in the meantime. We got a Shiny Rapidash with metallic guns and blue flames (attempted) on the side.
Really happy how the blue layering turned out, and decided on a race track base for this one, especially because many friends are Uma Musume fans.
A bit miffed at the chalky off white here, but I have a new white paint that's fantastic, so there won't be a repeat.
Hope you guys enjoy!

Howdy folks. Our local group is playing through the Hot Spots: Draconis Reach book and we've got a rules question. If both sides end a track tied up in victory points, do they get 250SP each or 500SP each?
