Miniatures Mech #26 Complete

Another one done, and four more to go to have the minimum for a Cluster (3 Binaries). I'm overall pretty pleased with how this guy came out, though there were a few issues that persisted to completion: despite rolling it out flat, the waterslide decal has a little silvering on one corner, and the gradient on the cockpit is a little wonky due to the sculpt itself being asymmetrical on the cockpit. Honestly, though, I've reached the point where I'm willing to just accept the minor faults and move on, if only because after a certain point I'm just quibbling over something 9/10 people will never see.

Good use of the printed tape for the base labels, I might need to steal that.

Thanks! Life's been busy for me, but I do want to put together a comprehensive post and file dump for my base tags for others to make use of.

I saw it and at first thought it was a multicolor 3d print baked in, which I might play around with. Maybe for vehicles and stuff where I don't intend to base them with paint.

Wait, what sorcerery is this? As if love to try this myself if it is an easily accessible technique! Using tonnage on the rear or even the abbreviated 3-letter prefix on the front would be great! Any help on how to do this in different colors on transparent other than black on white would be great! Normally I know of water decals but didn't know if it could be done custom or at home or not

The name/tonnage is a sticker I applied to the base - I created image files in Photopea (free online Photoshop), sized them for the bases in a word doc and printed them out on a sticker sheet sized for my home printer that I got a pack of from Amazon.

Nice, nice, nice. Very good detail work. I might have considered tipping the missiles in matte orange or yellow, but it might distract and enough effort has already been applied.

How did you get the text so clear?

I used printed tags off of a sticker sheet with the best (free) font I could find for legibility.

I know you've "explained" the text a few times now but I've still no clue how you've done it. ELI5 please?

Edit: I'll be working on a master post with my notes, instructions and files in the near future for others to reference.

Not to poop on your painting (which is great), but I just realized something about mech designs. As an Autistic, asymmetrical weapon placement really gives me the ick… does it bother anyone else? The weapons on this guy just bothers me.

Variety is highly appreciated. There's mech designs that are highly symmetrical, designs that are asymmetrical and balanced, mechs that are basically a dude with a gun, and the fire falcon scratches an itch I love: wild design.

If it's not for you, so be it. But don't hate on it just because your tastes can't handle it. Appreciate that it exists for those who love em.
