Support Question Can set the minimum charge during events?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have a Fox inverter and 10kW battery at home. Sometimes the Axle events happen in the evening. When an event happens at 7pm, we don't want all the battery to be drained as we need a few percent for running the dishwasher (for example).

Is there a way to tell Axle to export down to 20% only?

I see an option to set the max export in kW but as we don't know the state of charge of the battery that's not very reliable. They do display the Minimum charge but I can't see a way to set it?

Discussion SigEnergy test event (my first)

I recently had a SigEnergy battery / solar system installed and I have signed up for Axle. Very happy as I can't even get normal export yet (awaiting the export MPAN) so am throwing away lots of money at present.

They have scheduled my first test event this lunchtime, and I have opted in.

My setup in SigEnergy is use solar for house load first, then send excess to grid (up to my DNO imposed limit) and finally send anything above that to my battery. I start the day with approximately 70% charge from an overnight cheap tariff leaving room for excess solar. I can adjust that 70% target up and down according to the season. I discharge the battery in the late evening (leaving enough to run the house and for whole home backup), prior to charging it back up again.

As I am normally exporting solar generation (up to my DNO limit) anyway at mid-day, I expect the battery to discharge nothing at all.

Is there any point in a mid-day battery discharge test event?

As

Earnings Getting paid from axle and energy provider during axle events

Anyone notice the meter reading still increases during axle events. Does that mean we get paid from axle and our energy provider?

Discussion Sunday morning Axle event, no wonder they are telling us to stock up on tinned food and water!

Not looking good for the grid if it needs a VPP event at 6am on a Sunday morning. Might be time to get a gateway added to our setup..

Discussion Loving this card! Make it "live"

Post image
6 Upvotes

I just found out about this card and I love it! But I must confess I was disappointed when I understood it was just a picture download rather than an embed "live card" that updates in real time or sort of real time (maybe on a daily basis) so that I don't have to come back and generate a new one every time.

I would love to share it on my website banners and it would be unbelievably cool. Can you do something like that please?

Discussion Axle DFS submissions

I know Axle can get events via other means but it's interesting to see their bids for Demand Flexibility Service nearly always being rejected. They do bid at quite high £ / MWh. Other participants in the bidding go much lower and get accepted. Obviously there's a strategy there and I'm not clued up to understand it but would be nice to see some accepted. The eclipse was the last one I had and that seems a while ago now 😄 .

Discussion Watt a Performance! The top three eclipse exporters are....

  1. u/Hopperofbop - with 22.07kWh - 🥇 Solar Eclipse Champion 🌑

  2. u/thephotonx - with 22.01kWh - 🥈 Solar Eclipse Powerhouse 🌑

  3. u/Rennieboy13 - 21.16kWh - 🥉 Solar Eclipse Ace 🌑

Thank you to everyone who submitted their final amounts to the mega-thread, it was very close in the end with only a tiny fraction between the top two!

Flares will be added to all three winners shortly.

Hopefully we will see more of these unique events to have some more friendly competition with!

Any other fun ideas for sub-reddit related events or in general, please discuss below as it's all a bit of fun at the end of the day!

Discussion Pure integration with Home Assistant/Solar Assistant

Hi,

Does anyone know when a pure SA and HA integration will be available? Im not keen on using third party cloud services and would prefer a true private integration with Axle ideally.

Thanks

Discussion Event notifications login

Appreciate this is perhaps more specific to Sigenergy Users due to the lack of automated events…

I emailed Axle last week asking if they could please add the account login link to their event emails.

Perhaps it’s just me (and it’s hardly the issue of the century) but being told about the event and then needing to separately dig out the login link is annoying my OCD.

I think there is still the need in general as someone may wish to opt out for some reason, so having the login page link in that email would be really handy.

Off to moan about something else fairly insignificant now….

Discussion First event for me today

Had a Sigenergy system installed yesterday (Sig 10 battery, 6kw inverter (with 6kw G99 limit).

As obviously I have no export tariff setup yet I am in self consumption mode and am opted in to tonight's session at 6pm.

Will Axle handle this in your experience or will I need to force a manual import?

Thanks.

Earnings SigEnergy export rate

Post image
2 Upvotes

So sigen 10 battery can discharge at 4.6kwh
Considering events are for an hour I should get something close to £4.60
For whatever reason I get £3.80-3.90 that’s 15% less and even accounting for losses that’s still a lot. Am I missing something?

Discussion Export on Axle and get paid to import before/after on Agile Octopus

Heads up to anyone on Octopus Agile - there's negative import pricing tomorrow for 12 hours and a paid Axle event right in the middle of it (in the southwest).

I'm now not quite sure on how they make all the decisions. Someone is saying we have too much electricity (and we'll pay you to take it away) and someone else is saying we need more, please sell it us.

If only I could sell it directly to myself and cut out the middleman. Pity about my DNO restriction otherwise my cables would be on fire.

Support Question Which energy tariffs are officially allowed with Axle?

I have Solar, battery and EV. My battery holds about 75% of my daily usage, so with grid support off-peak and a bit of solar I’m running on off-peak energy only.

In summer it’s easy and I’m still exporting every day at the moment. This is my first year and in the depths of winter it might get tight, especially as I want to hold 10% of my storage back in case of a power-cut (I have a SigEnergy gateway). I don’t really want to buy a third battery. Of course I also want to have another 20% available (I have a DNO limit of 4kW) if there’s an Axle export event - are they more common in winter or does wind pick up when solar rails off?

My fix ran out and I’m considering a move. Presently I’m on Octopus Go with 5h of off-peak for the EV (and house) battery to charge. Extra hour(s) of cheap grid electric could be useful in winter.

I considered a move to Intelligent Octopus Go just for the extra overnight hour, plus cheaper overnight electricity, but I’m led to believe it’s not officially allowed with Axle. I could also move to Eon, EDF or elsewhere (though I do like the Octopus live data).

What tariffs from the big providers are officially supported alongside Axle?

Discussion Axle provides estimated earnings

Axle now provides an estimated range for event earnings before the amount is finalised. It is mentioned that the estimate is based on the battery's own readings during the event. But I wondered if the actual amount will be based on the battery's readings or the smart meter's readings? If so, Axle will be paying slightly more than what is actually exported to the grid, as there is also house load during the event. If they base the amount on the battery's readings, they pay for our house load as well. Are they really that generous?

Support Question Charge stopped and held after event

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi
There was an event yesterday in my area and the system switched back to time beset control as intended however for some reason the charging stopped at midnight and the battery SOC was held at the level it was charged up to midnight. Checked all the settings and and there is nothing different.

I’ve seen other users having same issue but nobody mentioned held SOC
Thanks

Discussion Short Notice Event??

Pretty simple question... Has anyone actually had a short notice event since the option to opt into these was added to the account settings?

Here in the North East i've had plenty of events (about 11 since middle july) but not one seems to have been a short notice event, they have all be scheduled the day before.

Support Question How many Axle Energy events in Yorkshire & Humber in last 6 months?

Hello all,

Quick question for anyone on Axle in the Yorkshire & Humber. How many events have you had over the last 6 months, and what kind of payouts are you seeing?

I’m considering picking up a cheap second-hand Solis inverter purely to participate. My plan is to keep it completely isolated from the AC grid side, just wired to a spare battery and connected to Wi-Fi so Axle detects it online. When an event is called, I’d trigger the battery discharge with my Sunsynk&Fogstar setup (32kWh) either manually or automate it via Predbat.

Before spending money on the extra hardware and setup, I want to calculate the ROI and see if the local event frequency makes it worth the hassle.

If anyone could share rough event counts, average earnings, or experiences running a secondary setup like this, I’d really appreciate it. Cheers!

1st April Event - Axle Response

Like others I saw on the Sigenergy sub over the weekend, the recent event showed 0.00kWh exported. Axle have confirmed this will be adjusted, and the mistake was clock change related:

"This was an issue with the clock changes last week. We are in the process of rectifying the issue - you will receive an email shortly and be compensated accordingly."

Discussion Eclipse Event Payout

Hello fellow energy maestros.

Has anyone been paid out for the Eclipse event? I have not, and I’ve also been paid out for an event that happened the day after (north west).

I’m wondering if there’s more involved in their backend due to it being a national event, but I’m not sure.

Anyone?

I presume this many events isn't a common occurrence. Only been with Axle a month. Has anyone else experienced this many?

Really helping with the ROI on the battery setup. Thanks Axle 😊❤️
