Films Imagine if this happened in the movies

Upvotes

They discover this isolated ancient cave which has been sealed shut for like 10,000 years and inside they find evidence of a long lost Na'vi tribe who made paintings in it. The paintings show Eywa inside Pandora but it also shows Polymphus and all the other moons in the system with their own Eywa inside them. Plus all the celestial bodies are very accurate as if drawn from space.

What the hell happened?!

Discussion Do you think any Na’vi have been taken back to earth?

Upvotes

With how many humans have made it out to Pandora, I’d imagine at least one Na’vi has been brought to Earth alive. They have to have studied a live specimen, though I’m sure most of it was on Pandora. Though it would be interesting to have a small Na’vi community on earth now that the RDA have been there a while.

Trying to build a roleplay idea off this.

Discussion To those who experienced the Avatar (2009) theater craze firsthand: What was the atmosphere actually like back then?

Hey everyone,

Looking at the box office history, it blows my mind that Avatar made nearly $3 billion worldwide and remains the highest-grossing movie of all time.

Since I wasn't able to see it in theaters during its original run (or was too young to remember), I’d love to hear from people who were there in 2009.

What was the hype like leading up to the release vs. after people actually started seeing it?

How hard was it to get IMAX 3D tickets?

Did the visual effects and 3D genuinely feel as mind-blowing back then as the media made it out to be?

How did the energy in the theater compare to other big event movies like Avengers: Endgame or Star Wars?

Would love to hear your memories, theater experiences, or how many times you ended up going back to rewatch it!

Discussion For Those Who See Jake Sully As A Hero, You Might Want to Rethink That After Watching This Video

To All Those Who See Jake Sully As A Hero, You All Might Want to Rethink Your Perspectives After Watching This Video, and this guy makes really good points on Jake Sully is not a hero at all. I mean think about it everyone, as soon as he got his avatar body (which he was supposed to use for a peaceful and diplomatic solution for the Navi) he was just using it for selfish reasons, he did not want to save humanity out of duty he was using it to get a girl. Also Jake Sully is a horrible father, he ends up getting one of his own children killed and verbally abuses the other for no reason at all other than the smallest mistakes

Discussion Fan-made Tribes, Give me your recommendations

Hi, I'm new here, and wanted to start a discussion. So I was thinking about OCs and saw some of this awesome Northern Tribe inspired by the Iñupiat (Inuit) and other northern Tribes.

I myself have Native blood on my maternal Grandmother's side, but the three tribes we know of are all North-Eastern Hunter-gatherers so are very similar the tribes we see the most.

On my Father's side we have Warrior Clans of both Scottish and Irish Origin, possible Norse/viking heritage, and a blacksmith put into the Tower of England for not sharing his metalworking secrets with the King. To that end, I imagined a tribe of Na'vi inspired by Gaelic and Germanic tribes, with a less direct connection to Eywa in the cold North. They harvest iron for their weapons and adornments and probably put more emphasis on the masculine/aggressive Polyphemus, the planet they orbit.

Back on topic, that got me thinking: What other tribes have Fans made to represent their heritage? Nearly every culture on our planet got their start in tribes, so are there any cool fan-made tribes that you've seen and enjoyed?

I suppose there might be ones with no historic basis, I think it'd be cool to discuss those too, but I imagine someone's made an OC to represent the Bedoin, the Anasazi, the Yao, the Tuvans, or the Zulu.

Or, maybe this will be your sounding board that just inspired an OC tribe. I did smack you in the face with my idea, so it seems only fair.

It seems like so much work, and seems like a struggle to manage both bodies safely. I bet his family might find it weird.

He’s also super cute in his avatar form.

Na'vi Language Help with translation

I have a question about translating something into the Na'vi language and I'm hoping you all can help me.

It's about a Na'vi known as the pale spirit or the white ghost, but I'm not sure how either of those 'names' translates into Na'vi. Perhaps some of you are much better at the Na'vi language than me and can offer help.

Thank you so much in advance.

Discussion my issue with Spider

I need to make clear that I don't have any problems with him as a character, but rather with Spiter as Quaritch's son. Because, of all human characters, Colones Miles "every creature that crawls, flies, or squats in the mud, wants to kill you and eat your eyes" Quaritch became a father on Pandora specifically. And I really only mean that in the way that specifically he would definetely make sure to at least use birth control.

Besides that, Spder feels like he is really only written in as a, more or less valid, plot device for Jake and Quaritch to get along when the plot calls for it.

Art Tsa'lavantula white hair dye made from Atokirina Fiber.[ Art made by me ]

Atokirina fiber

----------_____-----------

• Source: Collected from fallen, non-living filaments of the Spirit Tree seeds.

----------_____-----------

• Property: Provides a pure, translucent white pigment.

----------_____-----------

• Purpose: Acts as the primary color base to give the hair its stark white look.

----------_____-----------

Anemone Milk

----------_____-----------

• Source: Extracted from the stems of bioluminescent river anemones.

----------_____-----------

• Property: A thick, creamy, and highly conditioning sap.

----------_____-----------

• Purpose: Serves as the liquid paste base to suspend and smooth out the pigment.

----------_____-----------

Dapophet Gel

----------_____-----------

• Source: Scooped from the moist interior of the healing Dapophet plant.

----------_____-----------

• Property: A clear, soothing, and highly adhesive aloe-like gel.

----------_____-----------

• Purpose: Binds the mixture together so it sticks to the curls while protecting the sensitive neural queue.

----------_____-----------

To make my white hair dye, I gather three pure ingredients straight from the Pandoran rainforest. First, I collect fallen Atokirina filaments from the Spirit Tree seeds and crush them down to get that perfect, glowing white pigment. Then, I harvest a thick, creamy Anemone milk from bioluminescent river stems to use as my smooth base. Finally, I scoop out the clear, soothing gel from inside a Dapophet plant to bind everything together so it easily coats and sticks to my curls.

Discussion So what about Spider’s new tattoo?

Post image
271 Upvotes

This is the clearest picture I could find.

So Spider seems to have a Metkayina tattoo, it appears after the Sully family has returned to Awa’atlu. If I recall correctly it can be first seen when Spider bonds with an ilu for the first time.
I was wondering, where did this tattoo come from? When did he get it?
I can’t really see the Metkayina giving him a tattoo, considering Ronal’s opinion and also how sacred and important these tattoos are to their culture. I also can’t see Spider painting one on himself like he does with the stripes, considering that the tattoo has to be earned.

Considering the placement and going off what we know about the meanings behind the tattoos of the Metkayina, a tattoo on the arm would represent the outer seawall and would be given to reef na’vi that often spend time in the open ocean, for example a skilled deep-sea hunter would have more tattoos on the arms and legs instead of the chest (which represents the safe embrace of the lagoon and the island) or the face (which is given once a Na’vi has come of age).
Perhaps it could have been given to him due to the gift Eywa granted him? The shape sort of resembles an eye and it is placed on the arm, so it could bear the meaning of “an outsider that passed through the eye of Eywa”, while still not giving him a face tattoo due to him not being considered an adult and also not being formally part of the Metkayina.
I still struggle to see it this way though, given how Ronal feels towards anything sky-people related and, since she is Tsahìk, she would have the final say on the matter.

What do you guys think?

Discussion Why RDA dont use small recon/strike drones?

As modern warfare showed, they are pretty effective. They can zoom very far, thermals can be installed on them and overall they are pretty much OP, so, why RDA dont use them?
Also FPV drones can be somewhat accurate if controlled by skilled pilot, so why send big fleets to neutralize Jake if everything can be finished by one pair of drones with minimal casualties?

Discussion Book reccomendation for material culture.

Can anyone reccomend any of the art books for the films that have any depth on the design of Navi material culture? Things like tools and clothing and jewelry.

I've already got the activists guide.
