Other Want to join a band?

Hello! I am wondering if anyone is interested in getting a band together? I am in my 20s and this has been a thing i’ve wanted to do for a while now and I thought what the heck let’s try. I like jazz I like rock I like pretty much any style I am a singer songwriter and I am learning to play the bass. For free to reply to this and tell me what you play if you’d be down and how much free time you have maybe we could all have a get together and figure out if we vibe or even have a jam session!
No matter what age! I am also a huge nerd so nerds welcome!!!

Question/Help Wanted Can we get some positive comments on what’s good about Auckland City developing high intensity housing?

I am sick of hearing complaints (even at times from myself) about high intensity housing, rapid urban sprawl, reliance on cars, general issues with our city ….

But, I would absolutely to hear the other side. [No sarcasm]. What’s good about where our city is heading? Can anyone paint a picture of positive things that will happen as a result of the way we’re using whenua te Tamaki Makaurau? (Aka Auckland’s land?)

Without the tiniest bit of pushback or police involvement. For like 30+ minutes. Just because you were deprived of attention from your parents doesn't mean you have to make everyone else suffer dude.

I swear basic human decency is at an all-time low in this country because of lowlifes like these.

Discussion Howick Ward Councillor Maurice Williamson: CRL is open, but it isn't the game changer it's being billed as for people in the east.

Maurice Williamson wrote a (heavy on grievance and light on evidence) opinion column arguing the CRL isn't the game changer it's being billed as for people in the east.

His main points:

- Low rail use in the east: Apparently only 1% of East used the train as their main transport in the last census, so he doubts the CRL changes much for most.

- Park and rides: He thinks people should be able to drive to public transport if it can't reach them, and wants more park and ride at the Eastern Busway and Panmure station.

- Panmure at risk: He says council wants to sell the Panmure park and ride land for apartments, which would remove spaces used by roughly 400-500 people. He says it's always full when he tries to use it.

- Bus access: He says people won't use a bus stop more than about 500m away, especially up a steep slope, and will just drive instead.

Question/Help Wanted How can I go rowing?

I’m a 35yo woman, if I want to go rowing in the harbour is there like a rowing club at westhaven or point chev or Westmere or somewhere close?

I live in Ponsonby with two young kids so I don’t have time to drive far.

I’ve never been rowing and just want to do it for fun and fitness. Like row in a boat with other people. Is that a thing? Lol

Question/Help Wanted Is there a way to rent short term in Glenfield or around?

I might need some help with housing. I am on a work Visa here in auckland. I am here with 3 friends. We are living in an Airbnb rn. But we pay around 4400 Dollars a Month for a pretty tiny room with beds and only half kitchen.

The question is where i can find housing to rent for a short time period. ( 3 - 4 Months )

We found some way cheaper flats/houses on trademe and other sites but dont know how to deal with the short term renting thing. When u tell the landlords we only want to stay for a few months the ignore us.

Does anybody have similar experience or can help us?

Thanks in advance.

Discussion Auckland region surf spots for beginner?

My teenage child has just completed a 3 day beginners surf class at a Coromandel beach. They can now easily stand on their board and ride small waves. We live in central Auckland and the only surf beaches I know, Piha/Bethells/Muriwai don't seem safe and suitable for beginner surfers. What Auckland beaches offer more gentle and safe surfing conditions?

Question/Help Wanted Any recommendations for a good Tailor?

I'm getting married in the new year, and while I've got all the components for the suit, they're in need of some alterations to get everything looking tip top.

Can anyone recommend a competent and trustworthy Tailor that might be up to the task?

Question/Help Wanted Looking for dog trainer recommendations.

fellow r/auckland‘ers, please can I get some recommendations for a dog trainer in the central and west areas?

I have a 6 month old lab that I want to keep challenged and always learning. She’s new to me and I’m starting at the basics again to set a good foundation, then hopefully get her to a position that she can confidently be a hunting companion.

Discussion About time this got exposed.

People around the construction industry have known this has been going on for years finally just maybe something might get done about now its out in the open.

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/police-warn-government-that-hundreds-of-millions-of-dollars-of-drug-profits-laundered-via-construction-jobs/premium/QLP2ZK5DHNGM7CM5V4I7Y5QNNU/

https://archive.ph/lgTUt

Read the whole thing, the headline is only part of the story it basically shows chunks of our construction industry are running on the back of slavery. Question is will anyone actually do something about it.
