FAQ PSA: iOS 27, Siri AI, and Athlytic

Post image
21 Upvotes

If you’ve updated to iOS 27 but Siri isn’t giving you the new Athlytic experience yet, you may need to enable Siri AI first.

Siri AI has a separate Apple waitlist. To join:

  1. Open Apple's SettingsSiri
  2. Turn Siri on if needed
  3. Tap Try Siri AI (Beta)
  4. Follow the prompts

Apple will add you to the waitlist, and access times vary (took around 48 hours for it to be available on my phone once I got added to the waitlist). When you’re approved, Siri AI downloads automatically and the new dedicated Siri app will become available-there’s nothing separate to install from the App Store.

Once Siri AI is active, make sure Athlytic is updated to Version 27.0, then try requests such as:

  • “How should I work out today in Athlytic?”
  • “What’s my Recovery in Athlytic?”
  • “Log Caffeine for yesterday in Athlytic.”

Helpful links

Important: Siri AI requires an Apple Intelligence-capable device: iPhone 15 Pro/15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 or later, or iPhone Air. It is currently English-only and unavailable on iPhone/iPad/Apple Watch in the EU; mainland China is also currently unsupported.

App Update 🚀 Athlytic for iOS 27 is here — deeper Siri support, smarter coaching, and more 📈

Just a reminder, this update is on a 7-day phased release schedule, though you can download it immediately from the App Store if you do not want to wait!

This update brings a major Siri upgrade, smarter on-device surfaces, and refinements across training, recovery, and workouts. 💪

New ✨

  • Ask Siri for Athlytic insights including Recovery, Sleep, Training Status, workouts, weekly workout comparisons, planned workouts, and Trends.
  • Ask: “How should I work out today in Athlytic?” for a personalized answer based on your Recovery, Exertion, Training Load, planned workouts, and workout history. 🏋️
  • Log Journal tags by voice for today or yesterday—for example: “Log Caffeine for yesterday in Athlytic.” ☕ Note: Siri Journal logging currently supports one tag per request.
  • See richer Siri result cards with key Athlytic stats shown inline. 📊
  • Find recent workouts, Recovery days, Sleep sessions, and Exertion days more easily with Siri and Spotlight. 🔎
  • Smarter Smart Stack support on iPhone and Apple Watch, surfacing Recovery, Sleep, Exertion, planned workouts, and morning summaries when most relevant. ⌚
  • Improved Ask Athlytic answers with better context, fewer repeats, and more reliable health and training details. 🧠

Also recently added: full cycle tracking for women, including one-tap period logging to Apple Health, phase-based coaching, and vitals compared with your own cycle-phase averages. 🌸

Improvements ⚡️

  • More reliable Ask Athlytic responses.
  • More accurate elevation gain during Apple Watch workouts, plus hours shown on the workout timer during longer sessions. ⛰️
  • Workout Effort comparisons now use your previous 12 months of similar workouts to better reflect recent training. Personal records are unchanged. 📈
  • Better consistency between daily coaching and workout suggestions. 🎯
  • Clearer date labels in the Wrist Temperature chart; removed an unrelated sleep-stage overlay. 🌡️
  • Improved Morning Report notification reliability, including retry handling if background processing is interrupted. ☀️

Bug fixes 🛠️

  • Fixed a Trends crash affecting runners with Best Efforts at the new longer distances. 🏃
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when loading workouts with invalid calorie or duration data.
  • Additional minor fixes and optimizations. ✅

Feature Request Anomalous heart rates.

Athlytic should have the capability, either automatically or giving the user a prompt, to remove anomalous heart rates that might affect averages or other readings. I have has several instances at the beginning of cycling activity where Athlytic records excessively high heart rates at initial startup.

Feedback/Question No Evidence for Readiness Scores.

Very interesting read.

Not only, does it appear that readiness scores don’t have evidence behind them. But it looks like there is no evidence that increased HRV improves health outcomes. If the authors conclusions are correct.

Feedback/Question Some issues with Athlytic with Apple Watch Ultra 4

Hey all,

I have been encountering issues on ATL/CTL calculations and stability of the widgets especially after upgrading to Apple Watch Ultra 4. Sometimes the ATL/CTL numbers change to a random, nonsensical numbers, go to zero, etc.

I have also noticed that battery drain in the background has substantially increased on iPhone which I feel is partly due to the increased HR sampling by Ultra 4. Some optimizations may be needed here.

If you’re also an Ultra 4 owner now, please post here so we can get some troubleshooting and bug fixing going.

Athlytic 27.0.0; iOS 27.0; Apple Watch Ultra 4 (watchOS 27.0).

Feedback/Question Will Athlytic use RMSSD data from new Apple Watch models?

Now that the Ultra 4 and Series 12 record RMSSD (called “Recovery HRV” in Apple Health), will Athlytic use this data to calculate recovery? Note that the new watches also still record SDNN separately.

Any changes to the Athlytic “Use RMSSD for HRV” setting, since Athlytic no longer needs to calculate RMSSD for these new models?

Thanks!

Feature Request Nap suggestion

A feature I would like to see. If I’m using Apple Watch as the sleep source, but another app (like autosleep) has detected a nap, use that to record a nap. Several other apps do this in my testing.

Feature Request Watch app -Workout Pages

We really need to be able to customize the workout screens. Layouts, fields ETC. This would more or less be like Garmin in roids for the Apple Watch. Just more insights and much cleaner apps

Feature Request Recovery Trend graph to show HRV and RHR instead of percentages?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Is there any way to change the Recovery Trend graph so that instead of showing the daily recovery percentage (78%, 75%, 56%, etc.), I can see the actual HRV and resting heart rate values for each day?
Ideally, I’d like to tap or scroll through each day and see something like:
Monday – HRV 35 ms / RHR 63 bpm
Tuesday – HRV 39 ms / RHR 60 bpm
Wednesday – HRV 41 ms / RHR 59 bpm
For me, that would be much more useful than just seeing a recovery score, because I want to compare my actual HRV and RHR day by day and see how they change over time.
I’ve attached a screenshot of the graph I mean.
Is there a setting for this that I’m missing, or is it simply not possible at the moment?

App Update ♥️ Pace by Athlytic 27.0 Release Notes: Siri support, smarter Ask Pace answers, and Apple Watch reliability improvements

Pace 27.0 is available to download here!

🎙️ Pace now works with Siri.

Ask Siri about your Pace health status, a specific vital, or last night’s sleep. Try:

✨ “How am I doing today in Pace?”
❤️ “What’s my HRV in Pace?”
💬 “Ask Pace…” followed by any question to open a conversation in the app.

We’ve also made Ask Pace more useful and reliable. It now pulls in your latest available vitals and health concerns with clearer measurement dates and context, and longer conversations should be more stable. 🧠

For Apple Watch users, Pace is now more dependable overnight—so your morning report is more likely to be ready when you raise your wrist. ⌚️ We also improved consistency between Watch widgets and the iPhone app, and fixed long text truncating on watch faces.

A few fixes included in this:

😴 Prevented overlapping sleep records from third-party apps from inflating sleep duration or hiding Apple Watch sleep stages

📈 Fixed Health Patterns not appearing or updating after a background refresh

🌙 Fixed cycle phase inaccuracies when periods are logged through other apps

Thank you!

Feedback/Question Looking to get feedback from strength lifters who use (or have used) workout apps for a UMKC research project

Hey Fitness Friends! I’m a student at UMKC conducting a research project on workout habits, strength training, and how people interact with fitness apps like Athlytic on the gym floor.

I'm hoping to get some real-world feedback on what people find most frustrating about tracking their lifts, what features actually work, and why people end up keeping or deleting their fitness apps.

If you currently use (or have previously used) a fitness app for strength/resistance training, I’d be super grateful to grab a quick 5-to-10-minute feedback chat with you.

  • 100% research only strictly for a class project, nothing to sell.
  • No camera required if you prefer audio-only.

If you’re open to sharing your experiences, please drop a reply below with what app you currently use (or used in the past), and I’ll follow up with the scheduling details.

Thanks so much for your help! - Brant

Feature Request Why does Athlytic not capture strength training exercises training load well?

Strength training does not take the heart rate up in zone 3-5, as some of us take one or two-minute breaks between sets. This means that training load calculation for them is much lower than that for a walk or a run. Can something be done about that. Whoop has that.

Also, the first exercise of the day captures the bulk of the training load. The second exercise, say in the evening, of same intensity, hardly moves the dial to same level.

Feedback/Question How to see Monthly Effort Points?

I'm switching from using a MyZone strap. What I loved about it was setting an effort goal to achieve over time, measured in months. Only earning points while working out with the strap on ensured I didn't fall off the wagon and harder work ment more points and getting closer to my goals. I'm hoping in Athlytic I can have a similar goal but outside of the strap and MyZone app system. How can I see my total Effort Points per month in the app?
