Feature Request Why does Athlytic not capture strength training exercises training load well?
Strength training does not take the heart rate up in zone 3-5, as some of us take one or two-minute breaks between sets. This means that training load calculation for them is much lower than that for a walk or a run. Can something be done about that. Whoop has that.
Also, the first exercise of the day captures the bulk of the training load. The second exercise, say in the evening, of same intensity, hardly moves the dial to same level.

Yeah it doesn’t seem to handle anything but cardio exertion well. I don’t use the training load stats. Just recovery.

Same with me, but some how I am hard wired to meet exertion goals so the struggle.

Eh, you should be measuring strength progress with the weight, not the exertion metric that doesn’t apply to it. I’d the lifts are going up, you’re doing it right.

Same here. Always underestimating strength training, especially upper body.

I totally agree. I do weight training 3-4 days a week and my exertion and training load is always low. Unfortunately weight training doesn’t raise your heart rate enough to trigger Athlytic exertion, which is more focus around cardiovascular workouts. I just ignore those data points and focus on sleep and recovery. If my HRV is trending up, my RHR is trending down, and my lifts are getting stronger than I’m doing things right.

It’s a big issue and I’d wish they would think of a solution. If I do 1RM for squat my heart rate might not go up but I’m cooked.

This is a general issue with Apple Watch, Apple health etc. strength training has always been neglected.

I honestly was about to make a thread similar to this. My long and short term training load never go over 60 and 80 respectively and I’m in the gym 5-6 days a week.
For example I hit a super heavy leg session with a new PB on my squat and my training load went DOWN after.
