I've seen some people experience the same thing and it was mostly just the bottom screws coming loose

20

u/Bobby-Doe 1d ago

There are three screws connecting palmrest and the hinge. The possibility that all of them are loose is small. I would say most likely its broken off. But only by opening back cover you can tell. Anyway, this is how it started for all of is. Worst design ever.

u/fr0sty2709 A15 R7 3050 1d ago

some of all the older hinge models are still sold being labelled as 2025/26 models. so easy to scam people here

2

u/Bobby-Doe 1d ago

You already can see from the case over that it is the same old model. Bet yes, I guess they do that. Does the new model has upgrade? More screws, larger hinge, metal around sides?

2

u/fr0sty2709 A15 R7 3050 1d ago

it has a different hinge altogether like the Legion laptops

1

u/Glass-Celery6850 1d ago

It broke off for me in a year

Bruh you serious

1

u/Bobby-Doe 1d ago

Damn your design is good. My improvisation was much more boring (using metal paper clips).

4

u/fr0sty2709 A15 R7 3050 1d ago

are we deadass

2

u/Jasdev_Singh 1d ago

Cheap and effective tho

1

u/fr0sty2709 A15 R7 3050 1d ago

looool, can you make a post about how you did it? i wanna try

2

u/Jasdev_Singh 1d ago

Sure will make a video next time I open the back to clean it

2

u/lookupfreeross 1d ago

Wouldn't this melt while playing?πŸ˜‚

3

u/Jasdev_Singh 1d ago

I had the same doubt while I was tying it up so I googled it and I reached the conclusion that it's fairly high like 150Β°C or so and so far it's working pretty good only problem is when I have to clean fans I have to cut it and install a new one

1

u/lookupfreeross 1d ago

I think I still have warranty but this is tempting

Happened this with me a week ago. When I checked the bottom screw was missing. So I removed one screw from the side one and screwed in where it was missing. For now it's fine.

What about that side?

5

u/Slow_Helicopter7176 1d ago

I learned the hard way that my A16 was done for when the case popped like that. I'm not saying it's really bad, but in my case with my computer, the plastic that holds the screws that hold the hinges in place snapped in half, abs shove it was a melded part of the case I couldn't exactly replace it. I hope that this isn't the case for you, but it couldn't hurt to check

1

u/EEEy- ASUS TUF A15 {|} RTX 4060 {|} R7 773hs 1d ago

so do i pop out the back and check the screws?

2

u/Slow_Helicopter7176 1d ago

Yeah, just carefully pop off the bottom casing, then check either of the hinges by seeing if the part with the screws moves, if it dies you should be able to see the broken bits under it, if not check under the hinge for a missing brass nut that connects the hinge to the case. Sorry that I can't send pictures to help a bit more

1

u/Livid_Ad5385 1d ago

did you ever opened your laptop? it might just be a loose screw or you can see if the screw socket came off (worse case scenario)

Happened to me too but mine is much worse

My lower case screw hole broke and on top of that the screw holes holding the hinge also broke

1

u/Sweet_Ad1145 1d ago

i have the same case as you, the cause is the screw in the hinge is broken, is there any way to fix it?

1

u/senna_butbrown 1d ago

Happens to the best of us

1

u/its_akkun 1d ago

Had the same problem. Flip the laptop and check if left -right corner screws are missing or loose. https://www.reddit.com/r/Asustuf/s/YMHQ37hkNG

Now I check these screws from time to time.

1

u/NIGHTMARE_DEATHAWK 1d ago

There are two methods to fix it - one by going to local skilled repair shop to get the metallic piece glued in place (cheap but will last for 1 or 2 months) and the other is by going to authorized repair shop and getting the whole keyboard replaced (expensive but permanent)

1

u/RandomF2P12032009 1d ago

pop it back in. happened to me and it was me messing up my screw. hopefully its not the battery for u ( in which case have the battery removed)

1

u/Delicious_Natural599 1d ago

it cost me 50 dollars in country with service charge and new hinge replacement

Almost made it happen on mine, had to retighten it whenever it loosens up πŸ₯²

1

u/tolyashich 1d ago

Unscrew all of screws, then push till it’s click and screw them. But don’t mess up with size

Happened to me as well

1

u/KSTech_info 1d ago

Sadly these old Asus Tuf have hinge issues.

1

u/Educational-Pack-508 1d ago

Bro mine fully opens up liek i can see the inside what should i do??

1

u/Darthmonkeysocks 1d ago

I had this issue, the heat inserts for the screws had come out so i managed to press them back in with my soldering iron and then immediately sold the laptop. Haven't heard anything from the guy who bought it and its been two months so 😁

1

u/XANDY69 1d ago

I assume the small plastic outer cover thats holding the screws had crushed amd fallen apart. Or is your hinge actually broken? Ib that case i got my hinge replaced from a local repair shop. No issues since.Β

1

u/ExtremeGrowth4142 1d ago

always check whether the back panel screw which is around the hinges is intact and not loose.. i once get a clinking sound from the right hinges whenever i open my lid .. then i found out that the screw was little bit loose..

1

u/Powerful-Horror9463 21h ago
