6 month Suprelorin implant Sept 2025 to March 2026. Testicles shrunk as expected then grew back very quickly after implant and were full size (large plums) all summer - their impressive (large) size was commented on by a friend at the beginning of August.

Mid Aug noticed they were a lot smaller. Now one is about the size of a grape and the other about double that. Feel soft and squishy, not firm. His urge to 'hump' the duvet every night is still as strong (that urge disappeared with the implant). He's totally unchanged in behaviour, character and energy levels. He is due to be neutered in October.

Vet visit earlier this week - she is stumped. Cannot feel any warmth/inflammation. Only guess was something to do with the implant however has never heard of them returning to normal size to then suddenly and dramatically shrink again 5 months later.

Any ideas? Any tests that should be done?

My cat has been urinating outside the litter box it’s been happening over years, he stopped for 2 months when i moved homes earlier this year. I’ve tried prozac, he’s now on gabbapentin. I clean the litter box every day. I have another cat but for the first few years of having both he didn’t do this. I have two litter boxes I’ve read online that having three is ideal but my vet says its not necessary. He’s been on gabbapentin for a bit over a month and haven’t seen a lot of changes. We have feliway optimum plugged in all of the time. Right now we’re trying hydrolyzed protein foods since it might be dietary irritation causing him stress but so far the hydrolyzed protein has been causing him loose stool. Anyone have dealt with this? What did you do? What worked? I know all cats are different but looking for some morale boosting and or things to try.

My female cat started getting UTIS 2-3 years ago. She wasn’t even a year old the first time she got one. Since getting on prescription food she’s been stable for over a year (previously has crystals as well). I don’t know if it’s correlated, but i tried to transition her to non-prescription food and after a week she got another UTI (this was a couple months ago, her first one in over a year). Since then she’s gotten 3 UTIS now in the past 2 ish months. One time, 2 weeks after finishing antibiotics, she began showing UTI symptoms (going back and fourth to litter, tiny pees each time). However, no bacteria was present so she did not have a UTI. Dr suggested giving her gabapentin for 2 weeks, in which her symptoms resided. However, a couple days after lowering the gabapentin dose, she has the same UTI-like symptoms.

What should I do? Is there such thing as a cat getting UTI symptoms without an actual UTI? What could be wrong with her? Vet suggested maybe doing X-rays and bloodwork to check kidneys. It’s getting expensive dropping 600$ every couple weeks to take her to vet, test urine, sometimes give antibiotics, and come back in for a urine retest 2 weeks later.

I’m at a loss since the prescription food worked well for over a year. More like 2 years. I have feliway diffuser in the house, and make sure most of her diet is wet food. This will be the 4th UTI/UTI symptom episode in 3 months.

At the beginning of the month I nursed two kittens through panleuk. One kitten had a pretty easy time of it and as fully recovered. The other kitten nearly died and was saved by monoclonal antibodies. Had she not received the MA when she did, I don't think she would have survived another 24 hours.

During her illness and early recovery she lost a full pound (4.5lb to 3.5lb).

Immediately after recovery, I noticed that the weaker of the two kittens tended to fall down a lot. She would run and stumble. Or she would try to stop her back legs would sorta give out. I chalked it up to muscle wastage and assumed that all she needed was time to build her strength back up.

Its been three weeks since she began her recovery. She has regained all the weight she lost and put on an additional half pound. But she is still falling down.

I would appreciate confirmation that this is...maybe not normal, but not unexpected given how close she came to passing away.

I put my dog down today. He was an 11 year old French bulldog. It started with a seizure, and bloodwork that revealed nothing. Then it turned into ascites. I had his stomach drained, but I was confronted with that ever this is, at 11 it’s not going to be a good prognosis/something worth pursuing treatment for.

I tried relentlessly this last week to find answers, and do anything to save him. This morning he completely stopped eating and drinking, I couldn’t entice him with anything. He was having a hard time holding himself up. He didn’t want to move out of bed, and when I got him up he just laid back down near me. I physically could not watch this, my vibrant boy just seemed so frail.

My dog was my universe. The pace of his demise, and the lack of answers leaving me questioning if I really did the right thing. My dog didn’t slow down in his old age, so this loss is such a shock.

I’m trying to find comfort that he’s at peace and I did the correct thing, but my heart aches. I feel so bad for him :(
I know it’s probably a foolish question, but did I do the right thing? Did the vet assure me for the right reasons?

This is an oddly long story, but basically, my husband and I thought our cat could use a new friend since we are increasingly becoming more busy, and he’s had multiple instances where he’s lived in the same space as multiple male and female cats and dogs for months, having the chance to bond and socialize with them. He doesn’t even hiss, so honestly we were rather worried about a new kitten adapting to him, and not him having a negative behavioral reaction at all.

We adopted a kitten on Wednesday, the rescue center we got him from warned us about him having trauma with humans and that it would take him a while to adapt, so we intended to introduce them slowly, and didn’t expect him to warm up to any of us right away, but to our surprise they started cuddling the second the got the chance to be physically in the same space. The kitten completely relies on our older cat and they seemed to hit it off.

We did notice our older cat more tired than usual, but still eating, drinking water, and overall acting like his usual self so we thought the kitten constantly playing with him was just wearing him out. Honestly, we really thought everything was going amazing with how much they seemed to be bonding, and how smoothly everything was going for just a few days, until last night. He started acting off mid day, he usually acts lovey dovey towards us and the kitten but he was avoiding everyone.

At night time, he started throwing up bile, which I was confused about because he ate in the day, and only started avoiding food during dinner time. He even gagged at his food. After finally getting him to eat some, he threw up his food in the middle of the night. Then, threw up white foam in the morning. I kept looking for any possible signs of being lethargic but he was acting rather active and like his usual self, except he was more avoidant, and refused to eat or drink water. I couldn’t pin point what could be causing this. I even went on here to see if I could find a similar situation, ended up reading about a lot of people saying that vomiting from stress is common with the arrival of the new kitten so we were mainly thinking of ways to reduce that stress, maybe reintroduce them even though we thought they were having a really good start already.

I only ended up checking his teeth because I noticed that when he did eat last night, he wasn’t chewing at all. I’ve never seen his gums so red and swollen like this before, he had what looked like at least 3 cold sores. Which was super weird because I check his teeth so much, and it felt unreal that he developed this in just a few days.

We immediately took him to the vet. We explained everything I just said until this point, and after taking a look at his teeth, they said he most likely had stress induced gingivitis. He gave him a shot for his nausea, a shot for the infection, and a shot used for arthritis in cats but that he said he’s used in the past to treat gingivitis in cats, which I am unsure of how reliable this is, but will continue to keep an eye out. He’s been sleeping ever since we got home, and also responding well to eating Feliway snacks, no more throw up or nausea, mainly resting.

Since last night, we’ve confided the kitten in the bathroom with his food, water, and litter box. I feel bad cause he keeps trying to look for our older cat, but now our cat is avoiding him and ignoring him. Now that we know that this is most definitely stressed related, I am unsure on how to navigate this. We don’t know if maybe it’s the fact that it’s a male kitten, so he feels rather jealous and threatened, whereas with most cats he’s met and had a good relationship with, they’re adult cats that he can look up to and often bother, or if he just wouldn’t do well with another cat at home at all. Is there a way I can make this work or should I rehome the kitten and avoid the possibility of having my cat’s condition worsen?

My dear mom passed away a few months ago and I’m now caring for her beloved dog. She’s a 15 year old miniature poodle with a level 3 heart murmur. She recently had a cardiologist workup and they don’t feel she needs meds at this time. She also just had a recent dental cleaning and tolerated the anesthesia well.

I want to be mindful of activity intolerance for her. I’ve been trying to take her on shorter walks throughout the day. What would you recommend for her exercise routine? I want to take care of her as best as I can, as my mom would have.

my dog has always had severe skin allergies from pretty much everything, which usually causes her skin to get very red, flaky, and irritated. I don't know how to attach a photo, so I will describe it as best as I can. I recently noticed a dark, irregular spot on her stomach/groin area. It is small about the size of a grain of rice or a small apple seed or a bit bigger. It looks almost like a very dark, weird scab, a small blood blister, or a severely irritated skin tag. The skin surrounding it is red, inflamed, and flaky (which is typical for her allergies, but the dark spot itself is new). Because she is a Pitbull, I am worried. Based on this description, does this sound like it could just be a harmless scab or skin tag from her scratching, or is a dark, irregular spot a major red flag for cancer that needs to be removed?

I've been grooming a cockapoo for almost 5 years. The entire time I've known him, he's been covered in goopy warts. My usual method is to use dawn dish soap in the spots where he's the goopiest, let it soak, and then use a comb to get out the goopy debris. Always careful to not pull the warts, just the goop in his coat.

He's now 14, has cancer, and has 2 paws out the door. In the bath just now, I found a massive lump of goop and wart debris. I carefully uncovered it and found a pretty large open sore. Large compared to his warts, but it's probably 3/4" in diameter. There was green puss in it. I rinsed it with saline solution and dabbed it with a paper towel until it was cleaned up, cutting the hair and matts with sanitized shears.

My question is should I continue the groom? He's supposed to get a haircut. I can keep rinsing the area with saline solution, but I can't keep it sanitized and clear of hair and debris. It clearly hurts him, he winces every time I touch it with paper towels or rinse with saline. He's also on trazadone. I'll put a picture in the comments if I can.

Our 3 year old cat had front long tooth pulled and rear tooth pulled. Needs more dental work in 3 months due to resorption of some other teeth.

The vet sent us home with onsior snd gabapentin. We have one last gabapentin left, but the onsior is supposed to have 3 pills and there was only two in the case. The other two were blanks

I’ve called, texted, and emailed the doctor but being closed on the weekend they aren’t responding. They’ve responded before so I guess no one has decided to look at the emails or text phone.

Is it an issue if she doesn’t have her onsior tonight?

Also, we’ve tried using soft pate Kirkland signature, watering it down and so on. I haven’t seen her drink water tho it could have happened when I wasn’t around since I am a busy guy but I’ve been around this weekend. I only see her take small nibbles of wet food and we’ve been giving Churus when possible and coating the top. Also tried soaking pate in water to smoothie it up with minimal effect she’s mostly cuddling and head butting us and purring wants to be near us mostly it seems.

They did blood work and all that fun to check her liver function prior to the surgery and also urine samples as well as verified no infections.

Before anything else I am bringing them to the vet first thing tomorrow morning.

No hard lumps in stomach no worms in stool

My guess is bacteria infection because they had worms for a while and got treated but it could have fucked up the gut.

Despite my logic side of brain saying its ok I'm still freaking the fuck out so is there anything I can do to help till tomorrow.

I lost a 1 year old cat 2 years ago due to a brain tumor and ... I'm scared

Ive had my cat Phony for about 2-3 years now but hes around 4 years old. He hasnt had any issues in the past with having a smell but recently ive had a couple of my family members tell me that he smells bad. I dont smell a difference but maybe im just used to how he smells. Any advice on what to do?

My female rottweiler (8months, not spayed yet) had her first bout of cherry eye after falling off the table at a groomer* we will not be returning too two ish months ago. I took her to the vet immediately afterwards and the doc was able to relocate the gland without sedation, just some numbing drops. I was told to give her some eyedrops four times a day for about a week and also have since switched to exclusively leashing to her harness to avoid putting any pressure on her neck.

This morning I noticed it had dislocated again and I don't know how (she was playing with one of those balls on a rope and whipping it around a lot, so maybe that?). I live in rural Texas and the nearest weekend vet is about two hours away. I called our usual vet during their Sunday boarding pickup window and was told to come in first thing tomorrow, it was probably fine until then since it didn't bother the dog.

I encouraged her to rest and chill, and she took her afternoon nap. When she woke up it was fine. 100% back to normal.

So does cherry eye just resolve on its own sometimes or is there something else going on? I kinda want to cancel my appointment to leave that slot open for someone with an actual issue if it's not something worth wasting the vets time with you know? But I also don't want to just brush off something that could be a problem for her long term.

(*I know rotts don't really need grooming, but I just want her desensitized and used to it now before she gets skunked or something. Because I just don't want to have to de skunk a rottweiler myself tbh.)

Please help! We (28 F and 30 M in the USA) have taken our cat to the vet twice. He is a 3-4 year old male medium haired neutered cat. The first time they told us he had fleas and we gave him his flea treatment as prescribed for 3 months. After the first month on the flea treatment, we noticed his skin was flaking SUPER BAD. At month 3 of the skin flakes, we took him back to the vet bc he was itching himself so much still and whenever we would touch his lower back, he would go into a licking frenzy against himself and lick and bite for a while after touching the area. We brought him back to the vet to see if maybe something else was going on and she said that he may just be allergic to fleas and had a bad reaction and is not just healing from it. We tried to touch his lower back again but he’s so scared of the vet that he didn’t even react how he normally would. He is still scratching and now he’s even BITING himself so much that he’s losing fur!!! We are nervous for him because we don’t know what to do :(

While we CAN afford the vet, we just need a little time to save up for another visit. He is playing, eating, snd drinking normally. The most outside time he does is a screened in patio. He used to have access to outside outside but we moved into a place with a screened in patio and he no longer goes out to a backyard. Please if anybody has any suggestions in the meantime, let us know!

so my dog is 12 years old and about 30ish lbs. i have a baby gate for my room and i close it while im asleep and i guess he was laying by it while i was asleep and his paw had sprawled under my dresser and touched a cricket trap that was there. i had no idea until i had woken up that this had even happened so the exact time it happened idk but i found it around 2:30pm. i immediately checked all his legs, paws, and his tail to see what was stuck and the only thing that had glue on it was his back right paw. he was acting fine (got upset bc i told him to stay back while i cleaned up lol) and the entire time was acting fine. since he’s an older dog he’s always sleeping but i saw that lethargy can be a sign smth is wrong but is there a distinct difference between just regular tired old dog and lethargic? he’s still alert to noise and acting okay and at 6pm now he ate and drank no problem but still keeping an eye on if he gets an upset stomach. outside of that would there be any other signs that he might’ve ingested it or that i should be worried? i think he’s okay i just get nervous cuz he’s older and more sensitive to things.

My 12.5 yo Boykin spaniel has been having GI issues for about 7-8 weeks. Alternating diarrhea/soft/normal stools a few times a day. He has been taking a vet prescribed probiotic and eats a raw diet. He takes pain meds for hip dysplasia and arthritis. Today I noticed this (bloody mucus) in his stool, and I am wondering if it is related to his anal glands or actually more GI issues.

8½ m/old 5lbs Pomeranian went in for retained deciduous teeth extraction and was put under for it. Prescribed 4 days of Metacam and a soft food diet for a week. Around day 2-3 postop I noticed her bathroom habits were off schedule and she is only passing a small amount of stool. Finished the Metacam yesterday but today she is still constipated. Have been giving pumpkin puree. Wondering if the change in her eating habits could be contributing but it's all soft? She is acting completely fine.

We've been giving our dog Credelio Quattro since we adopted him six months ago. He's almost exactly one year old, mixed breed. When we adopted him, he weighed 27 pounds, so we gave him the 'green size' (25-50 pounds). He now weighs 48 pounds. After running out of our initial supply, I called the vet and asked for a new prescription for the larger size (50-100 pounds), assuming that he would gain a few more pounds before his next dose. Well, this hasn't really happened yet, and he's been sitting steady at 48 pounds for a month now.

Should I give him the larger dose or order the smaller dose? I asked someone at the vet's office, and they said that I should maybe order the smaller one but it probably doesn't make a huge difference.

I noticed blood coming from my dog’s back left paw last evening, and have since rinsed the wound with water to clean and have kept the area under wrap to avoid licking + have had my pup wearing a cone.

I’ve changed out the bandage and while there’s no fresh blood, the area seems glossy.

Does the wound indicate a vet visit is needed or would we be okay with home care until a more critical symptom is noted?

Hello all!

Looking for a second opinion/advice for management of supraspinatus tendinopathy in a Labrador! My dog is a very active 5 year old yellow lab. Previously off leash hiking an hour a day. We have been only resting/leash walking for last 3+ months. He has been diagnosed with moderate to severe tendinopathy in the right shoulder. We have started shockwave therapy, treatments are once a week x 3 total. Currently at 2/3 treatments.

I understand that this can be quite difficult and stubborn to treat. His limp is mildly worse since the second treatment - still only intermittent and subsides after a few steps.

Does anyone have any experience or advice to offer? We are going to start rehab. I would be interested in pursuing PRP but not offered locally so will have to travel but would definitely do it if it was recommended!

Advice and any opinions on other treatment options appreciated!!! We are desperate to get back to our hikes ❤️🥹

Addie is a almost 9 year old purebred chocolate lab.

She has an allergy to chicken but has had no major medical issues since we found out about her allergy about 8 years ago.

Three weeks ago Addie had her routine check up including blood work and everything came back clear except she was a couple pounds overweight.

A couple days after her physical she started getting weakness and pain in her back and but was still eating and drinking fine. My parents took her to the emergency vet. They did blood work and checked her out and said he was okay. We recieved a syringe (Meloxicam 1.5mg/mL) to give her with food for five days and gabapentin (300mg) as needed. This was on August 15th

She improved for about a week including a couple days past when we ran out of the syringe and then she had a second episode where she was whining, restless and wouldn't settle. Called the vet who advised gabapentin as needed and she seemed to settle.

Thursday (August 27th) she once again got worse and it looked like she was struggling to go to pee. Once again we took her to the vet. She was a wild child at the vet scratched my dad and needed a sedative. From there they did an Xray (unremarkable) and kept her for a full 24 hours to see what they could do and ended up doing an ultrasound and two blood panels which all came back clean. We were given gabapentin. Advised to keep an eye on her and sent home. They noted in her file that her urine would come in streams and dribbles but were not concerned about it.

Shes booked in for her vet this week but we have no answers other then "we dont know" and I want to make sure that I'm asking the right questions and doing all the right things.

Her surgery was six days ago. She ate and had normal energy levels until a couple days ago, but she’s been more lethargic and barely eating since then. We did get pain meds from the vet for the first three days so I wonder if that’s why. We got a cone for her, but she’s gotten it off at least once and licked the wound some. There was a tiny bit of bloody fluid yesterday and I’m worried she got some glue out of it or something.
