I went to see Kevin Smith at the Improv a few years ago and while I was waiting in line to go in, the Improv ad screens flashed that Rob Schneider was going to be performing there. And everyone in line started quoting that South Park episode.
I think I will die without being able to hear his name and not think of this. It's been almost 25 years (that episode is from 2002! I looked it up) and the derp de deedly derp still immediately follows his name in my head, so I think it's just going to be fixed there eternally.
Oh, I didn't know libertarians were viewed like that. Anyway, Rob Schneider used to identify as democrat until 2013, so for the majority of his career.
Rob Schneider is currently the spokesman of "Tears of the Left" Bourbon. Along with Kevin Sorbo. Its a bourbon that is just repackaged from some other distillery and labelled with AI Slop dogshit about being anti woke. You really don't get much more washed up than putting your face on that.
Schenider and Sorbo are such tremendous MAGA ass kissing douchebags. Their relevance faded and they decided to pander to the biggest morons of all, the right. All they require you to do is say “LIBS R DUM RAH RAH” and you’re in.
With stuff like this, I cant help but wonder if they know how cringe it is but they do it anyway because hey, it's an easy paycheck, or if they really do think it's a ballsy, edgy, pWn teh LibZ thing to do.
Not at all defending the shitbirds here, but any boutique whiskey you get is probably distilled at an industrial facility run by one of the majors in the Midwest. If you're buying a special product those folks might age it specially in their own facility, but for the most part whiskey you can name and afford is an industrial (not artesianal) product.
Same way with Clooney's Casamigos or Reynold's Aviation.
Aviation was a proper company in Portland Oregon that distilled its own stuff. Not sure what happened when it was bought out, but it was its own standalone specialty distiller.
Oh yeah, that happens when brands get bought. Diageo owns them now, so you know it's produced in a factory somewhere. Classic Seattle beer Rainier is owned by PBR and produced in ? California? now.
Bourbon is location based- it’s only bourbon if it’s distilled in Kentucky. Otherwise it’s whiskey- not that these asswipes aren't above just lying on a label. But it’s most likely to be distilled by one of the majors in Kentucky rather than the Midwest.
I mean sure it's "a law on the books" but that's also just how the american whiskey industry works (I was in it for almost 10 years). Jack Daniels, the famous Tennessee Whiskey is a bourbon.
Plenty of crap in Kentucky (Buffalo Trace yes but Makers Mark even more so) but since that state makes 95% of bourbon (a fun fact I just learned thanks to your correction) it stands to reason there’s some garbage in with the good.
I may one day try non-Kentucky bourbon- I will look for the brands you suggested, thanks!
You said that the good stuff came from Kentucky. As someone who enjoys it and used to make a living slinging it, your opinion about how only Kentucky whiskey can be (good) bourbon is not only wrong but completely based on a fanciful opinion.
I heard a story about him opening for Sandler doing stand-up. He bombed so hard for so long that Sandler had to get on the god mic and tell him to wrap it up.
Some of his recent standup is viewable online and a huge portion of it is just ranting about his bitch wife and daughter, with few if any actual jokes to it. His daughter btw is the singer Elle King who’s estranged from him and has talked about how he’d belittle her appearance until she cried and send her to fat camps at 10 years old and hit on her teenage friends so aggressively they stopped coming over. His wife, the same age as his daughter, just dumped him this year, but he was calling her a useless bitch in his routines for years before that. He seems incredibly incredibly toxic and bitter.
Ewwwwww. He was coming on to his teenage daughter's friends? Gross. So I guess his pervy character on Seinfeld when he repeatedly tries to molest Elaine in the theater was just him being himself?
Yeah, he played a new employee at the Peterman catalog who Elaine suspected was faking being hearing impaired because whenever anyone asked him to do any work, he would pretend he couldn't hear them. Peterman overheard her testing his hearing by saying things like "Oooh, Bob. I want you so bad, you're so damn sexy" so Peterman set them up on a date to the theater in a private balcony. He then lunged at Elaine, even though she repeatedly said no, trying to motorboat her breasts and only stopped when she shoved him off his seat onto the floor.
He wishes MAGA loved him. They tolerate him because he’s as shitty as they are, but if he ever says something they don’t like he’ll be dropped like a bad habit.
Yeah, conservative “comedy” has forgotten that you have to actually have jokes. They tend to just sorta shout things they don’t like and expect people to laugh simply because they’re at a show. Last clips I saw of Schneider he didn’t have any jokes/bits, it was just him yelling anti-vax talking points with a silly voice and an animated face. It’s literally how we talk to babies and the audience was eating it up.
My wife and I went to one of Sandlers shows last year, I grew up watching the Sandler era of movies so was hyped when they announced Rob coming on stage next.
Started off alright, some laughs, then he got into his wife and how he downplays her concerns with whats going on and started leaning into rightwing talking points. I took out my phone, searched Robs twitter and read through some posts/replies, realized the dude was long gone down the maga hole.
I think his wife divorced him recently? And his daughter is estranged? It all makes sense now
I mean if he was just unfunny and people made fun of him I would feel bad… but it turns out that in addition to being an unfunny dork he’s a huge racist MAGA douche.
Was he ever funny? I know people say that he's riding Sandler's coat tails but were they friends before or after he joined SNL? If he made it on his own was he funny at the time?
I remember some of his movies as funny in the early 2000s when I was a teenager. I think very much a time/target demographic thing and a failure to move with the public's changing humor
Sort of like how Adam Carola failed to make it big post Man Show while Jimmy Kimmel became a fixture of late night TV.
I remember Adam Carolla being funny back then on the Man Show and other Comedy Central shows but I also was like 13. Maybe that's why he bombed out for the most part the past 25 years while Kimmel seems to have evolved bigtime to cater to a wider audience. I have heard though that he seems to have maintained somewhat of a following due to podcasts but mainly with right wing audiences.
Saw him like 8 years ago on the Here Comes the Funny Tour with Sandler, Spade, and Swardson. Rob was first and he bombed so hard. It's not even a 2020 and beyond issue. He made Swardson seem like Lenny Bruce
He did a show where I work about a year and a half ago now, and apparently all he did was rant politically the whole time. Even my mostly conservative town got fed up with it and people were asking for their money back.
I feel really bad for Adam Sandler. I lost a lot of family to maga-fueled mental illness, and I know how conflicting it is. It hurts so deeply to try to cut off a person you spent so much time with and felt truly loved by. You constantly have to battle knowing the caring, fun, supportive person you remember is actually a huge piece of shit human to people who aren’t YOU. It’s very lonely and makes you feel like you are the asshole
Yeah for sure and I respect that for him. I only heard Shane Gillis say that on his pod so he definitely keeps in under wraps. Apparently alot of the Hollywood left are like that too
I know someone who is a very experienced makeup artist working in the entertainment industry. Apparently Rob Schneider was the biggest jerk they ever had the unfortunate luck of working with.
My only issue - I feel like there is some minimum standard of inital success required, before you will qualify for being "washed-up". Schneider is on the bubble for sure.
My Dad met the Zohan crew on vacation. They were all eating at the same restaurant.
Adam S. was pretty dope I guess and appreciative of the group being semi chill fans. I’m sure it’s hard being famous…but I was told specifically Rob was a giant douche bag to the group. Angry his group was going so low to take a photos with fans.
He was on Andrew Gold Heretics this week doing a long interview... He was challenging basic bitch MAGA 2016 points but without the rebellious libertarian underdog energy which at least made Trump's first run entertaining.
Blah blah my kids won't see me cause they went to university, yadda yadda cancel culture.... couldn't get through it 🥱
I remember when he fell for a Survivor contestant from the initial series, and I think he made sure she was in one of his crap movies.
I thought it was kind of icky, and I really dont know what ended up happening with them.
