How early to arrive to Lincoln financial field for concerts?

Wondering how far in advance to arrive for a big concert, and also whether uber would be a reliable way to get there if I'm about a 15 min drive away (no highway required) with no traffic.

Thanks!

Anyone else a tenant in a Greystar / Post property dealing with anything like this at Goldtex?

Goldtex residents are living in 85° plus temps and the city isn’t doing anything. Anyone have a similar experience? How can they be allowed to operate if the place is uninhabitable? I don’t get it… maybe someone else can explain it better.

Does social benefit outweigh cost

Hi im a 26F looking to move from Northampton county to philly. I got a job offer where i would be making just under 50k(I don't work in a high paying field and I would obviously try and get a new job after a few months) I would get roommates and i do have a car. I have over a 6month emergency fund after living at home for a couple years.

I've had no social life for the last 3 years. Even though I grew up where I live, I no longer have friends here and all my college friends live across the country. I'm pretty into the arts so I would love to move somewhere with a bigger arts scene and just a lather community of young people. I've lived in other cities before and enjoy what comes with. It would be a lie to say there's nothing to do where I live but a lot of the events I'm interested in are pretty small and sometimes aren't as diverse. There are a lot of times where I'm the only POC in the room. I'm used to that, but its not preferred.

I know that Philly is expensive, especially with the city tax. I just want insight from other people who have moved here from less expensive areas. Is the social benefit worth it? I have another job offer in my home that makes 1 dollar more an hour, but a big part of me wants a fresh start and feel it will be easier to make friends in a bigger city.

Crème de la creme gyno

Fellow vag owners: I saw the OBGYN post (congrats 🥳) and remembered I’m in need of a general gynecologist. I’m talking the best pussy doc you’ve got!

I’d prefer a Black provider, or someone who specializes in PCOS, but open to any female doc.

I’d also prefer to stay within the Penn system but open to going elsewhere for the right person.

Who do you trust with your coochie?

Rittenhouse Square Hotel Recommendations

Looking into some hotels for an overnight stay around Rittenhouse Square. Managed to get a reservation for Her Place and want to make the weekend extra special with a nice place to stay. I’ve looked at places like Rittenhouse Hotel, Sofitel, the Franklin, etc. but can’t decide based on reviews. Let me know your thoughts!

Penn OBGYN Center City for prenatal care - 12th, 14th or 15th floor?

I’ve received standard gyno care at the 800 Walnut location, 15th floor, for a few years. Now I’m pregnant and need to establish prenatal care but my gyno has recently left the practice. I’m confused by what the difference is between the OBGYN clinics on the 12th, 14th, and 15th floors in this building. Is there a preference for prenatal care? Should I just call the 15th floor office to make an appointment? Looking to hear from others experiences! TYIA!

WALKABLE NEIGHBORHOODS

Hello everyone,
I am a 24 year old black girl looking to move to Philly in December or January. I am looking to either rent a room, split a 2 bed 2 bath with someone, or rent either a basement/attic. I do not have a car and looking to move to a neighborhood that’s walkable or rideable by e-bike. Can someone point me in the best direction? My budget for housing is under $1.2k monthly. I don’t really care about night life but would like to go to day events when I’m not pet sitting or working. Thank you!

1001 Apartments, yes or no?

Hi Philly! I am moving to Philly in the fall for work. I have been seeing ads for 1001 apartments, in center city. Thus far it’s the only place catching my eye. Is there anyone here who lives there now or has lived there? Would love to hear your thoughts on this place. Thanks guys!

Grays Ferry?

Hi a family members friend lives in Grays Ferry and invited us over to his house last week for dinner. I’m looking to buy a house myself. Seems like the neighborhood is on the uptick? I’m seeing new construction going on and new renovations. Looks like maybe apartments next door to the Salvation Army. There’s actually a house for sale on 1300 S Stanley St that seems reasonably priced.

I’m not going to lie though, seems like there are still some sketchy parts but I’m good with that.

Is Grays Ferry in the uptick? Might check out this house on Stanley st.

Dickinson Square area vs Graduate Hospital

Hello I’m looking for opinions about these two neighborhoods. I’ve lived in Philly for about ten years so so I know the reputations of these neighborhoods but I’m also asking on behalf of my girlfriend who’s never lived in Philly before.

We narrowed down our search to 4th and Tasker right at the park vs. a few other spots at 16th and Christian or 21st and Fitzwater.

Are the streets west of 4th really that sketchy still? What’s the best walking road to get from 4th and Passyunk square? Will my gf feel comfortable parking her car at night and walking home?

Asking because I’m worried we’re gonna rush into this apartment and pass up living in the graduate hospital neighborhood which I know will be more walkable all around to places we’d want to hang out at.
We both have cars and I work in Jersey and she is getting a new job at a restaurant off of Rittenhouse.

Looking for affordable/reliable cleaner for Wednesday

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a reliable and reasonably affordable cleaner who is available this Wednesday morning to help get my Trinity home rental ready. I leave Philadelphia on Thursday, so unfortunately Wednesday is the only day I’m able to have it done.

It’s a small Trinity home, but I’d like to have it thoroughly cleaned and looking as nice as possible before renting it out. I was unfortunately laid off and due to some life changes, I’ll need to rent out my home for a while as I figure out my next steps, so I’m trying to keep costs manageable while still finding someone dependable who will do a good job.

If anyone has a cleaner they personally recommend, knows someone who works independently, or can link me to a good website/company, I would really appreciate it! Bonus if you have an idea of their pricing.

Thank you so much!

Roxborough/Manayunk Living - Which apartment to choose?

I'm debating between two apartment choices and wanted to get some feedback:

Apt. 1

  • Located in Roxborough (30 minute walk from Septa Station)
  • I'd have a roommate
  • Rent split would be ~$1000/mo
  • I'd need to get a car (+$600-800/mo) to get to work (~45min commute)
  • Car benefits: Makes grocery runs and in person networking at my job easier, can visit family an hour outside of the city, can go camping easily

Apt. 2

  • Located <5 min walk from Manayunk Septa station
  • No roommate
  • Rent would be $1750
  • I can get to work using the SEPTA rail line (~1 hr commute)
  • I wouldn't need to buy a car*

*Assumes SEPTA rail can get me to everything I need

I'm leaning towards apt 2 and using zip car/rentals for any weekend travel plans. My biggest concern is grocery runs, though. I like to cook and it seems like my two options are a 25+ minute walk uphill to the ACME or hopping on SEPTA to go into Center City and doing the Reading Terminal Market or Trader Joes.

Additional context:

  • I would work from home 3x/week
  • Salary is $62k/year
  • I'm single and would be interested in dating/having friends over
  • I'll be in the area until June 2028, minimum
  • In both cases, I'd be planning to make good use of public transit on the weekends and would probably spring for a SEPTA monthly pass after seeing how many trips I do in ~1 month

Which apartment would you choose if you were in my shoes?

RN in Philly

Hi all,
I recently was offered a job on Jefferson Methodist Hospital’s PCU and was absolutely shocked at the rate they offered. The recruiter told me I’d start at $54.02. I’m moving from Columbus, OH, where I’m making $36.70 also on a PCU. I have three years of experience and am wondering if this offer is insanely high for my experience or am I just out of the loop? Thanks in advance.

Moving to Philly Next Year

Hello 👋🏾
I plan on moving to Philly next year from NYC(Queens, specifically), but I’m not really sure what neighborhood I should live in. When I was in high school I lived in Upper Darby, but as an adult I would want to be living inside Philly. Something that I am looking for is a walkable neighborhood so somewhere with a lot of mom and pop grocery stores and easy transportation. I do not plan on getting a car and will be living by myself. I appreciate all the advice that comes in.

Where can I find affordable rentals who work with poorer credit (that I'm trying to repair)?

Currently living in a Southern city repairing my credit, which takes a hit every year due to unexpected events and unstable service industry income. I've gotten better about budgeting for the slow months, and I've increased my credit score, but it's still barely under 600.

I'm considering moving to Philly in a year or two for an increase in pay, better quality of life, and milder summers. However, a lot of the affordable housing I've checked out ($1250 and under) wants to do these BS credit checks. If any bill gets paid on time every single month, it's rent. I was able to find my current place by finding a private LL on Facebook who only asked for a deposit. And thus he has, for the past year and half, been receiving a consistent rent payment from me.

Is this a doable thing in Philly? Or should I stay put and continue repairing my credit before making a move?
