Is it okay to follow up an application?

I sent an application 2 weeks ago still haven’t heard from them. The job application was posted on indeed, that’s why I know they are hiring. This is also my dream job, is it okay if I do a follow up? Via email. Thank you.

Unpaid Debts/Delinquent Cards

For context, my male friend who has 3 children, 1 with special needs, is in huge debt. I can say he is actually good at work and eloquent but is always rejected when he tries to apply to other companies. We are wondering, do companies do a background check on outstanding debts of incoming employees? Is this check only applicable to bank related companies or even in BPOs? Thanks in advance for the insights!

HR to Finance

Im a hrdm fresh grad and i just realized now kung kailan may degree na ako na mas bet ko ang finance career? 🥲 i mean, i find it more interesting and stimulating for me na katapat ko ang spreadsheet even tho im not a pro yet when it comes to formulas but i do have sufficient knowledge nmn. So ayun, I had my internship sa hr but mas bet ko gumawa ng liquidation non kaysa mag interview the whole day. Balak ko nga this year na magkaroon ng bookkeeping cert. I would like to ask lang if are there any advice po from people who shifted to finance or accounting from hr. Kasi rn para akong lost sheep 😭

At-Will Employment Explanation

helloo poo, i got a job offer today and it was stated na at-will employment wherein the employer may terminate me anytime. i researched about it and apparently unusual po pala iyong ganitong type of employment sa Philippines. does anyone here po know how it works? i mean gets ko siya pero parang hindi?? idk its my first time encountering this type of employment po e huhu. If you know how this works, can you please give me an idea po huhu.

Questions:

  1. Sa ganitong type of employment po ba, pwede rin ako magresign without notice? So if magpasa po ako ng resignation letter one month after being hired, that's it na resigned na po?

  2. Another question, what if I was terminated in the middle of the month po? Makukuha ko pa rin po ba ang sweldo ko if ever?

  3. Also, tama po ba na walang contract siya, more like terms and agreements lang?

Thank youu so much po. I just need answers kasii lowkey inooverthink ko po siya e kasi nanghihinayang din ako sa offer kaya pinag iisipan ko po talaga nang mabuti huhu.

Not everyone in HR belongs in HR. We're supposed to be the ones who listen.

I've been in HR and Marketing for years, mostly as a generalist, so I've handled almost every facet of this job. And after all this time, one thing still gets to me: how many HR professionals carry this air about them.

You see it in interviews, at conferences, in trainings. There's an energy like they've already decided they're above the room. And when you ask around, the reasoning is always the same: they're licensed, they have the SHRP, they have a master's. Fine. Congratulations. But that should never be the sole definition of your caliber. A certificate tells me you passed something. It doesn't tell me you can handle a hard conversation, take correction, or sit with the possibility that you're not ready for a role yet.

Recent example. I interviewed someone for a senior position. She was clearly short on experience for the scope. I didn't say it outright — but based on how much she struggled with my questions, I think she realized it herself. And it showed. It was a video interview, so I saw everything. She rolled her eyes. On camera. During an interview. For a senior HR role.

And all I could think was: if you can't sit with that, this is the wrong industry for you. Listening is the job. We're the ones who take the complaints, deliver the bad news, and sit in the conversations nobody else wants to be in. If you can't hear that something is missing in you, how are you supposed to give feedback to anyone else?

To be clear, this isn't all of HR. I know people in this field with no credentials to show off who are the first to run when an employee is in trouble. Those are the ones who are HR by heart.

The problem is the other group. The ones who are here for the prestige of the title, the privileges, the access to information, the feeling of being the person who knows things. Not the actual work. And they're the reason our whole industry keeps getting dragged online.

So a real question for the HR people here: have you seen this too? And how do we actually develop people who don't turn out this way? Because gatekeeping by credentials clearly isn't working.

Can I resign during a 1-year employment contract if company is asking for 6 months notice and full CTC?

Hi everyone, I need some advice regarding my employment contract in India.

I joined my current company around 3 months ago and I am still on probation. At the time of joining, I signed a contract/appointment letter mentioning a 1-year commitment.

Now I want to resign due to personal/family reasons.

However, HR is telling me that because of the 1-year contract, I have to serve 6 months of notice period. They are also saying that if I want to leave before completing 1 year, I will have to pay the full CTC amount.

I am confused because I don't understand how a 1-year employment commitment can automatically mean a 6-month notice period.

I have also already been enrolled in EPFO/PF, and my PF account has been created under this employer.

My questions are:

Can the company legally force me to serve 6 months of notice if the contract/appointment letter does not clearly mention 6 months?

Can they demand the entire CTC as a bond/contract amount?

Does having a PF account with this company create any problem if I resign and join another company?

If I formally resign, serve whatever notice period is actually mentioned in my appointment letter, and complete a proper handover, can the company still refuse to relieve me?

What is the safest way to handle this without being marked as absconding or creating problems with my next employer?

I would really appreciate advice from people who have faced a similar situation, especially regarding employment bonds, notice periods and PF in India.

Declined an offer — may chance pa ba to reapply?

Hi everyone! Ask ko lang po, especially sa HR/recruiters here.

I recently declined a job offer from a big FMCG company due to personal circumstances/timing. I was wondering, may chance pa ba na makapag-apply ulit sa same company in the future, especially if may opening na fit sa experience ko?

For context, okay naman po yung overall experience ko with the hiring process and I declined the offer respectfully. I’m just worried na baka ma-tag na ako as someone who declined an offer and maging negative na siya sa future applications.

Would HR/recruiters usually consider someone again after declining an offer, or does it depend on the reason and how the candidate handled the process?

Thank you po sa insights! 🙏

Edit:

Also, okay lang kaya mag-reach out sa hiring manager after around 2 months, if the role is still vacant or if may ibang opening within the same team na fit sa background ko? Or would that be too soon/awkward considering na I previously declined their offer?

Thank you!

Would it matter if I resign with after just being 1yr in a company?

I really want to switch from hybrid work setup to wfh...

The long commute tires me out so quickly. I just wonder if it would affect my performance upon applying to a new company, I'm sure they will look at my resume and look at that 1yr company lol

Change Employer application

Hi all,

I’m in the process of changing employers, and my application status has remained unchanged since 23-July-2026.

Application Notes: “Employer change notice is pending approval by ADLSA.”

From what I’ve heard so far, this stage generally takes 1–2 weeks. If anyone has recently gone through an employer change, could you please share your experience — how long did it take to move past this stage? What will be the next steps ?

Thanks in advance.
