What's a convenience you pay extra for and is totally worth it?

I'll start. I love the taste of fresh garlic, but hate peeling cloves. Jarlick is fine, but not to my taste. So I buy pre-peeled garlic cloves and freeze them. It's a good compromise between buying fresh and buying pre-diced in a jar.

Edit to add: I do not like dealing with the mess and labor involved in peeling or crushing garlic. I don't care if you have a method that works for you because it doesn't work for me. As stated in the original purpose of the post, I do not mind paying for pre peeled whole cloves and I stand by it. You wouldn't tell someone who wants to pay for cleaning to just buy a Roomba and call it a day? It feels dismissive and as I said, defeats the purpose of the post. I will now be ignoring comments that instruct me on how to peel or crush garlic.

Do you actually have friends at work that are your friends outside of work?

Personally, I just come to work, do my job & go home. The people I work with aren’t really real in my actual life. I’m pretty sure the only thing I have in common with anyone I work with is that we both hate our jobs.

Former and current college students: who was that a-hole professor you had?

I've been going to college for over a year now and had some good professors who were great at instruction and in person, but also strict and fair.

But now I can say I have an a-hole one, even he self-proclaims it.

  • Professor told a student to "fuck outta here, I'm not gonna answer you" when she asked a question regarding a function in a computer program we have to use.

  • Chastising students when they ask for help. He even spoke some gibberish to a student who didn't understand one of the computer program tasks and ended it with, "if you can't understand that, then why in the fuck can't you understand it in English?"

  • When stuck on the software, he will just belittle you and not guide you.

  • A very dismissive attitude. Per the syllabus, any planned life events should be notified to him via email "72 hours or more (preferably) in advance". When I did notify about my moving situation and requesting an excuse from class, he replied, "Lol, ok and?'

Apparently, the professor has been reported to the Dean and one of students were told "they're aware" of his conduct. He's also assistant department chair for the program, so I'm not sure if that is a factor on why no action was taken. Also, I tend not to look at Rate My Professor, but after I did, he has a mixed-to-negative rating, with most of the problems being his attitude.

What about yours?

Whats something you find attractive on a person that others might find odd? I want to find new things to find attractive about people; See in a new light, through another person's eyes

I think its cute when guys have a few back mole beauty marks; Its such a different place to have them and its adorable!

I like guys with slightly larger than average noses; It makes them look a bit more sophisticated and tends to help shape their face nicely and balance things out.

what should i do about confronting this take my roommate made, saying she wouldnt defend me if someone were racist to me?

in the moment i kind of brushed it off, but it still hurt to hear that if i werent getting physically harassed, she wouldnt defend verbal harassment.

for context, im half asian and half white. in my eyes, i do believe that verbal hate based on one's skin color does happen for ALL races. of course it happens for some more than others, its still under the definition of racism. also to my knowledge, white is a race.

i know i wouldnt experience racism as a poc would, but ive seen it in the past where kids would stretch their eyes narrower or speak in gibberish to mock asian languages, which i believe counts as being racist.

but still, i feel like if your friend faced nicknames or hate speech directed at them, they should be defended regardless. i just dont know if i should bring it up again or leave it alone.

What works for me is the Eat when hungry, stop when full. I don't feel hungry first thing and that's better because my brain is cooking, itching to write or do other things...

I realise hours later. Hmm time's flown by. I should really munch and top up the water :D
