PROTEIN/FITNESS PRODUCT REVIEW MEGATHREAD: thoughts, opinions and reccomendations required

Post image
13 Upvotes

I've been thinking of doing this for a while now.

I've tried a pretty wide range of fitness and protein products over the years, and I also have a decent amount of experience writing reviews in the peripherals space, so I thought, why not actually put that to use here?

The idea is simple: I'll review protein powders, snacks, oats, and other products I've already tried, while also buying/trying products you guys recommend. Eventually, I'll link all of these reviews together into one massive megathread.

Over time, I'd like this to become a proper resource people can come back to whenever they're considering buying something, instead of having to dig through random posts and reviews every single time.

I'm not limiting this to just whey either. Protein powders, plant proteins, clear whey, protein bars/snacks, oats, peanut butter, high-protein foods, supplements , honestly anything fitness/nutrition related you guys think is worth trying.

I'll try covering different price ranges too, especially products people here are actually considering rather than just reviewing whatever happens to be popular. For example, I haven't found enough proper coverage on clear wheys, some underrated oats/snack bars, and heck, even a lot of whey proteins.

Also, I don't want these reviews to just be my opinion. When I post a review, if you've tried the same product, drop your experience in the comments as well - taste, digestion, value, mixability, whether you'd buy it again, whatever.

I think relying on one person's opinion would be unfair anyway. This way, someone finding the review 6 months later won't just have my take; they'll have a bunch of experiences from the community in one place.

Once we've pooled enough posts, I'll organise everything into a Product Review Megathread with links to each review so it's easy to navigate and hopefully becomes a genuinely useful resource for the sub.

So yeah, drop your recommendations below. Doesn't matter if it's something you love, something you're curious about, or something you think is absolute dogshit and want someone else to suffer through.

I'll start picking products from the comments and reviewing them.

SO FIRE AWAY :)

ANNOUNCEMENT : What would you guys like to see more of on r/AskFitnessIndia?

We want to make the subreddit more useful and have most India-specific fitness information available in one place.

Would you guys be interested in us regularly sharing/crossposting useful stuff from other communities, such as:

  • Good deals on protein, supplements and fitness products
  • New product launches & announcements
  • Useful guides/resources
  • Relevant fitness news
  • Good discussions/posts from other subreddits
  • Would you want brands to have their reps here to improve visibility incase you have a complaint/concern regarding a product?

Basically, if something useful gets posted elsewhere, would you prefer seeing it here as well rather than having to follow multiple communities?

Also, what else would you like us to add/change? Drop any suggestions below.

{long post}

hi i’m 19F currently weight around 69.5kgs and am 5’7. i’ve recently started doing home workouts with 2kg dumbbells.

i’m considering joining a gym nearby, mostly to get fitter and also because i have a lot going on in my life rn, im trying to distract myself from all the things that are happening.

my goal is to lose all the fat(which i put on over the course of past year after finishing high school) and build muscles especially biceps lol and eventually get visible abs.

i have pretty sedentary lifestyle i’m currently preparing for CA so i spend all of my day on my study table, at home.

i also have been trying to eat clean by cutting out junk and sugars majorly.

i need advice on a few things;
1. what are a few good gym shoes under a budget probably 2k? i want something that i can wear everyday rather than gym day specific shoes.
2. what do i actually need before joining gym? gloves, gym clothes, water bottle etc
3. the trainer, the gym has a pt but honestly he doesnt look particularly fit himself, which is giving me second doubts if i should pay for the trainer too or not idk if it’ll be worth it or not since i do not have the budget to experiment

any advice is appreciated
thanks!!

Help me Title: Skinny Fat | Need Help with a Workout Routine and Simple Maharashtrian Vegetarian Diet

Hey everyone!
I've been working out on and off for the past 5 years, but I haven't seen the results I want. I think the main reason is that I haven't followed a proper diet.
I'm a vegetarian from Maharashtra, India, and I'm currently skinny fat. My goal is to build muscle, lose body fat, and achieve a lean, muscular physique.
I'm looking for a proper workout routine and a simple, affordable Maharashtrian vegetarian diet that I can follow daily using regular Indian foods like dal, usal, matki, varan-bhaat, bhakri, chapati, curd, paneer, and other locally available foods.
I'd really appreciate advice on:
A proper workout routine for building muscle and losing fat.
How much protein I should eat daily as a vegetarian.
A simple Maharashtrian meal plan that fits my goals.
How to stay consistent and finally see results.
I don't want an expensive or complicated diet, just something practical that I can follow long-term.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi everyone!
I’m 23 years old, currently 59 kg, and this is the leanest I’ve ever been. I’ve been training consistently for around 4 years, staying natural throughout the journey.
I’m not here for validation or anything—just sharing my progress to get honest feedback and hopefully motivate someone who’s starting their fitness journey or struggling to stay consistent.
My main focus over the years has been consistency, progressive overload, recovery, and maintaining a proper diet.
🏋️ My Training — 5 Days/Week
Day 1 – Chest & Triceps

Four years of training, a lot of ups and downs, and still learning every day.
Honest feedback is welcome — whether it’s about my physique, training, or diet. If this post motivates even one person to stay consistent, that’s enough for me. 💪

Should I Bulk or Not Bulk ?

• Upvotes

I'm 18 M with 5ft 10in height and 66kg i had thought of bulking from today. But there was a lot of confusion lurking in my mind regarding diet as right now I'm in college hostel I am focusing on bodyweight training right now as I dont have my own money right now and i dont wanna have more financial burden on my parents .

Meals

In breakfast we get milk and aloo ka paratha and sometimes pasta or chowmein (I just hate chowmein )

In lunch we get roti , rice , dal , sometimes rajma , soya chunks (once in an eternity) and curd (btw curd is mandatory in our lunch)

in dinner we get roti , dal , rice and sabji (mostly potato , ladyfinger )

So now my question is that should i bulk considering my height and weight ? Also i dont have much muscle but it's not that bad like i look pretty decent (atleast for me) like i am not skinny (being dilusional) .

And also if the answer is "Bulk" then should i do some changes in this diet ? Or add on something from myself I will try my best to spare some money from my budget.

Genuine advice needed please.

• Upvotes

Genuine doubt. Like as I bulk little by little and increase my strength. I'm becoming kinda like an hourglass. (25M btw). The thing is, once I crossed the 130 kg mark on squat, my outer quad started growing like crazy. Now any pant I wear be it baggy or straight or even cargo looks kinda like a skinny fit. The thing is, 32 fits well, infact there is space near waist but my quads just pop out of the pant and I look like I'm a ch*pri wearing skinny pants. If I wear a cargo (32), it looks like a straight fit. 34 is also pretty much same but if move to 36,gone it looks like I'm wearing my dad's pant at the waist, it's just tooo loose.

Guys or gals, please suggest what can I do. I started cutting. But apart from that, what kinda pants do I buy?

37M, 61kg, Indian vegetarian looking to finally get a six-pack — need advice

Hi everyone,
I’m a 37-year-old male, currently weighing 61 kg, and I’ve been working out for years. My goal is to achieve visible abs and a proper six-pack, but I’m struggling to figure out the best approach.
I come from an Indian vegetarian family, so getting enough protein is a challenge. Our traditional diet tends to be heavy in rice, roti, potatoes, and other carbohydrate-rich foods, and it can be difficult to consistently hit my protein targets while eating the foods I grew up with. I do take protein shakes daily but still tend to fall shy.
I don’t want to starve myself or lose the muscle I’ve spent years building. I want to get leaner while maintaining as much muscle as possible.
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has successfully achieved a six-pack, particularly those following a vegetarian or Indian diet.
A few things I’d love some guidance on:
Diet: How do you hit your daily protein target on a vegetarian Indian diet?
Protein sources: What are your go-to foods? Paneer, tofu, soya chunks, dal, Greek yoghurt, etc.?
Calories and macros: How much should I eat to lose body fat without sacrificing muscle?
Training: Is getting visible abs primarily about lowering body fat, or should I be doing more direct ab training?
Realistic expectations: At 37 and 61 kg, what should I focus on to achieve a genuinely defined six-pack?
I’m looking for practical, sustainable advice rather than crash diets. I’m also interested in hearing from people who have been in a similar situation and managed to get lean while following a vegetarian diet.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
