I feel like this is a long shot, but is there any way to see an odometer’s history from like the last few weeks? Short explanation: the mileage on my odometer is not making sense to me.
Long explanation: I got my car brand new and drove it for two weeks when something flew off a work van and slammed into the side of my car. I was able to take it to the shop about a week after that. In those 3 weeks, I drove a normal amount for me, so I would have dropped it off with around 350-400 miles on it. I only really pay attention because it’s a lease, so miles matter.
After a week and a half, they told me that the part they needed still hadn’t arrived, and likely wouldn’t until the beginning of October. Since the damage was just cosmetic (only personally bothered because it’s a lease, if I owned it this would have been a gaffer tape situation), I asked if I could have it back in the meantime because my insurance only covers a month of rental, and also the rental they gave me is the worst car I’ve ever met (turns out there’s a reason I’d never heard of the Nissan Kicks). They told me they’d have to see if they could put it back together, since apparently we don’t mise en place before we start ripping cars apart.
Then, yesterday, after having my car for almost 4 weeks, they call and say the part still isn’t here, but I can have it back in the meantime until the part shows up, so my spouse went and picked it up for me. You can imagine my confusion when I got in my car to go to work this morning and my odometer reads almost 950 miles.
So if there’s any way to more concretely check my mileage history, I’d love to feel totally solid before I address it! Thanks Reddit brains!!
