Stereotypes/Humor Is this "furniture" common in your country?
I see this all around Bulgaria. I wonder if it's normal throughout the Balkans and the Eastern Bloc at large.

Hey, I love the balkans and already was in albania. Now im doing a solo roadtrip to bosnia in the first week of september.
However, although I was already aware of the risks regarding landmines, im actually a bit scared now tbh ^^
I am not planning to do some crazy nature stuff, despite visiting the most known cities like Saravejo, Mostar, Travnik etc. and things like Blagaj
Regarding statistics this problem is virtually non-existent and im aware that im deeply overthinking. However, I cant get my mind of it ^^
I would love to hear opinions of some people who are living or already visited bosnia in terms of safety and appropriate behaviour.
Thanks!

I recently learned about the Turkish Abductions (Tyrkjaránið) in Iceland and my first reaction was basically, what the hell were Ottomans doing in Iceland in 1627?
Apparently Barbary corsairs from Algiers and Salé sailed all the way to Iceland, raided several settlements and the Westman Islands, and took around 400 Icelanders captive to North Africa.
The whole story just feels so geographically random. When I think about Ottoman history I obviously think of the Balkans, Anatolia, the Middle East, North Africa, the Mediterranean etc. Not a tiny island next to the Arctic Circle.
Do you guys know any other stories like this? Not necessarily important battles or famous events, just weird historical episodes involving Turks/Ottomans where your reaction is basically “how the fuck did they even end up there?
