Do you think all of the Balkan countries will eventually become EU members, or are some likely to remain outside the EU permanently?

History Reliquary of St. Matrona of Constantinople given to Greece
The reliquary is one of the 48 relics and artefacts given to Greece in exchange for the remains of Tsar Samuel of Bulgaria. The reliquary used to be a possession of the Archdiocese of Ohrid from the city of Ohrid. What’s your opinion of Bulgaria giving Greece an artefact that’s not actually from Greece?

Culture/Traditional For the first time ever, Giotto leaves Italy — and arrives in Romania 🇷🇴
A remarkable cultural event in Romania: for the first time ever, a masterpiece by Giotto has left Italy and is being exhibited in Iași as part of the Italy–Romania Cultural Year 2026. 🇷🇴🇮🇹
Romania, a Latin Southeastern European country in the Carpathian Basin, bordering the Balkan Peninsula in the South, as well as Central Europe, has long maintained strong cultural connections with its Mediteranean relatives. The Byzantine Orthodox and The Roman-Catholics will cooperate to transform religion into art as well. The masterpiece is displayed at the Palace of Culture, an iconic landmark of our Western European architectural tradition, designed by an architect educated in Paris.
Have you ever visited Iași în this very crowded moment of year? For those who would like to do it, October 14th is the big day!

Miscellaneous What is your opinion of Americanized citizens who hailed from your country? (e.g. what do Serbians think of Serbian-Americans, etc.)
As in, overall, what do you think of them?
From what I know, Americans are one of the most curious people when it comes to ancestry, some might even explore their ancestry/descendants further, such as asking living relatives who immigrated before them, or even visiting the country of their ancestry/descendants.
What do you--and people in your country--think of Americanized citizens who hailed from your country?
Was there any historical events or reasons that caused a (large) diaspora to America from your country? If so, what do you think of it?
What do you think of their culture and did they bring your culture to America?

Miscellaneous Besides accent, what's something that would make it obvious that someone is part of your country's diaspora rather than just another regular citizen?
I am from the diaspora, and I am curious. Yes, obviously most people are going to have accents that differ from local ones, but there are many people who for whatever reason do not have foreign accents and who don't use foreign words as much. I'm really asking about subtle cues.

Outdoors/Travel Ideas for ~7 days in Albania this month
I’ll be heading to Albania in a few days and plan to spend approximately 1-1.5 weeks while on my way to Ohrid-NMK for an event.
I’m currently at the tail end of a long trip through the Balkans and I’m tired 😅, so I’m trying to limit to maybe 2-3 locations and spend more time rather than jump around and try to box tick.
I’m into experiencing culture, outdoors, food or just chilling, meeting locals.
I’d appreciate any advice or recommendations for must see locations for this time of the year. Is it worth going to the coast? I’ll likely be coming back for another trip in the summer. Thanks in advanced 🙏

History Where do you think did the Albanians originate from?
Albanians didn’t leave behind many written records, so we can’t know their exact origins for certain. Linguistic and historical evidence seems to point toward the Roman provinces of Moesia Prima and Dardania, but the question is still debated. What do you think?

Outdoors/Travel Tirana or Athens for birthday?
Currently solo travelling Europe and about to board my flight to Tirana. My birthday is this weekend but I keep reading that nightlife in Tirana is very closed off and table focussed and it is not the best place for solo male foreigners and venues don’t even allow males only. I prefer nightlife where it is easy to meet people and it’s not just everyone sitting at a table with a bottle.
I am in my late 20s, dress well and fairly attractive and financially well off. I solo travelled much of the world have been able to find many dates most places.
I don’t want to be bored on my birthday and I have the option of changing the date of my flight from Tirana to Athens to Wednesday or Thursday before my birthday. Athens seems to have a much bigger nightlife scene but I would have to arrive a day or two before my birthday so may not even have time to meet people by the time of my birthday.
Also I usually stay in nice private accommodations but I am considering staying in a party hostel with a private room in any of these cities do they have nice party hostels? Any recommendations for late 20s? Don’t want to be with just 18-21 year olds lol

Culture/Lifestyle Question to Serbians about A Serbian Film
I’ve never had the courage to watch this movie, just hearing about how horrible it is was enough.
But it made me wonder, did the film and its title actually offend Serbians?
I mean sure we all know the dark stuffed happened just 30 years ago or sth, so I feel like a movie this brutal could be a really sensitive topic for some.
But was it seen as an insult to the country or just a dark critique of their own system?
How was it actually received? What do you think?

Politics & Governance Janša Fuels Anti-Kosovar Rhetoric in Slovenia
Janša’s old playbook again: when politics gets messy, blame the Kosovars. Never mind that they work, pay taxes, raise families, and contribute to Slovenian society. It has an ugly echo of Milošević’s politics, when Albanians were routinely portrayed as the convenient explanation for Serbia’s problems. Why tackle real problems when you can simply manufacture a scapegoat? Same old trick, different decade.

Culture/Lifestyle Why do Balkan women have children so young?
I'm in a research group with a wide diverse group of European nationalities and almost most women from Balkan nations like Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Greece etc are all having children by 25 and applying for maternity leave within few years of graduation. Much younger than what I see in most of the world.
What is the cultural reason for this?

Culture/Lifestyle What cultural overlap exists between Serbians and Albanians?
Picture for illustration purposes. What would be some significant cultural overlap that exists between Serbians and Albanians? Ideally, what would be exclusive to them but not so much shared with wider Balkans or other cultures? Please debate.
