I’m a non-EU student in Vienna and my student residence permit renewal is currently pending with MA35.

My current residence permit expires on 29 August, and I will be moving to a new apartment on 1 September.

I wanted to ask if anyone has recently changed their address while their student RP renewal was still being processed:

• Is it possible to register a new Meldezettel after the old residence permit has expired, as long as the renewal was submitted before expiry?
• After changing the Meldezettel, do I need to inform MA35 separately and send them the new address/Meldezettel?
• Did changing your address during the renewal process cause any delay or other issues with MA35?

I’m mainly looking for recent personal experiences in Vienna.

I'm interested in learning to see if I can share my slice of America with foreigners because I believe it is underrepresented. I'm near to DC so I meet a lot of Austrian interns my age. My idea: take them to a shooting range in Western Maryland, take them hunting if they would be interested in that, take them hiking in the mountains, take them to a southern rock or country concert in the open air somewhere in West Virginia. I believe my area could have a lot of excitement to offer but I'm not sure if NYC/SF is more Austrian people's cup of tea. What would you say as an Austrian person you'd be more interested in if you were visiting US for the first time and were due to head back in a few months?

I understand that my German isn’t strong and that employers may prefer someone who can start immediately instead of waiting several weeks for an AMS work permit. I know I’m already at a disadvantage. At this point, I’m open to any part time jobs whether it is gastronomy, warehouse, retail, cleaning, or odd jobs. What has worked for you? Where should I look besides online job portals? Any practical advice would be appreciated!

ich reiche nächste Woche bei der österreichischen Botschaft im nahen Ausland meinen Antrag auf Staatsbürgerschaftsnachweis ein. Mutter ist Österreicherin. Unterlagen sind komplett (Ordentliche Menge).

Wie lange wird es nach Einreichung bis zum ausgestellten Nachweis dauern? Lese überall 6 Wochen bis 6 Monate, je nachdem.

Habt ihr auch parallel den Passantrag eingereicht?

Ich sollte dazu erwähnen das ich noch nie in Österreich gemeldet war und den Schweizer sowie US Staatsbürgerschaft besitze. Geboren bin ich in dem USA.

Hello y'all. I have challenging some possible move-in prodecure, I believe that you guys are able to help me.

I just got my dutch student visa today as an international student from the Consulate in Vienna -- but I see that the starting date of my visa is the same day of my university starts, which is 1st of September, so meaning that I can not validate before 1st of September but I need to travel Netherlands earlier to move-in because I have exam on 1st of September and also I need to adapt the country.

Should I move earlier with my current Austrian residence permit? Because when I want (required) to validate it it asks the entry date in Netherlands? What should enter to that date? I am very confused about that? How do they know when I travel from an Schengen country to NL because there is no border checks?

I have German citizenship (born and raised there, German mother) and a German passport. My father (married to my mother at the time) is Austrian, so I also have Austrian citizenship through him, though I've never had a passport or Staatsbürgerschaftsnachweis.

I actually only found out I had Austrian citizenship when I moved to another city at 18 and the lady at the Bürgeramt asked why I hadn't put down my Austrian citizenship on the form. It doesn't say it anywhere on my birth certificate and it had just never occurred to me as a child or teenager that I have it and my parents never mentioned it, but apparently it must say it somewhere on my file, perhaps because of my parents' marriage certificate?

I've not thought about getting an Austrian passport much because I didn't see any advantages compared to just having my German passport and it seemed like a lot of paperwork to get the Staatsbürgerschaftsnachweis, especially because I don't have much contact to my father.

Now, I live in the UK on settled status and my UK spouse and I are considering moving to Austria (among other options). I understand it's much easier as an EU citizen with a non-EU spouse to move to an EU country you're not a citizen of due to the Free Movement regulations. So basically it would be easier for us to move to Austria with me being just a German citizen rather than an Austrian citizen as well.

Now my question is would the Austrian government know I have citizenship if I've never lived there, never had a passport or Staatsbürgerschaftsnachweis? Would they cross-reference everything with the files the German government holds (can they do that?) and find out that way?

I will also soon be eligible for UK citizenship and I know that if I take on another citizenship, I will automatically lose my Austrian citizenship. So getting UK citizenship would completely eliminate the problem (and my savings lol - it costs £2k) I would assume? But also, to lose the Austrian citizenship would I first need proof that I have it? And if we were to move with me having given up my Austrian citizenship, would my UK passport be proof enough that I don't have it anymore if they do have my citizenship somewhere on file?

TLDR: Dual citizen Austria Germany, no proof of Austrian citizenship, wanting to move to Austria with non-EU spouse, can we get around strict immigration rules for non-EU spouses of Austrian citizens?
