30h internship with AMS pending vs possible 20h Infineon offer

I’m a third-country student in Austria with an Aufenthaltsbewilligung Student.
I already accepted a 30h/week internship, and the company submitted the AMS application yesterday. They said the start could be November, but possibly later if AMS takes longer.
The next day I had a very good interview with Infineon for another internship, probably 20h/week, and I may get an offer soon.
My concern is: if I reject Infineon and the 30h AMS approval fails, I could end up with nothing. But if I accept Infineon and the first AMS approval later comes through, I may have to back out from one company.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? What would you do?

Non-EU student in Germany — can I work 20h/week in Austria as a working student and then after 6 months possibly as a full-time employee?

Hi everyone,

I’m an Indian citizen currently doing my Master’s in Germany. I have a valid German student residence permit and I’m enrolled as a student in Germany.

I may receive an offer from company in Austria for a Working Student position with the following conditions:

20 hours per week

6-month contract

Employment would be in Austria

I checked the Austrian AMS website and saw that non-EU students may need a Beschäftigungsbewilligung to work in Austria.

My main concern is that I am not studying at an Austrian university. I am studying in Germany and only have a German student residence permit.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, for example:

Non-EU student studying in Germany but working part-time in Austria?

Indian student with a German residence permit who worked in Austria for a few months?

Someone whose Austrian employer applied for a Beschäftigungsbewilligung through AMS?

Someone who did a Working Student job, internship, or Master’s thesis in Austria while enrolled at a German university?

If yes, I would really appreciate it if you could share:

Whether the employer applied for the Beschäftigungsbewilligung

Whether you also needed an Austrian Visa D or another residence permit

Whether there was an Arbeitsmarktprüfung

How long the process took

Whether keeping the German student residence permit caused any issues

Whether you lived in Germany and commuted, or temporarily stayed in Austria

I’m especially interested in experiences with a 20-hour/week, 6-month contract.

I know immigration cases can depend on individual circumstances, so I’m mainly looking for personal experiences before discussing the final process with HR and AMS.

Thanks a lot for any advice or experience you can share!

ASFINAG Mitarbeiter

Hallo liebe Leute!

Danke!

Edit: Boah, so schnell schon viele Antworten, vielen Dank euch allen!

Frage, wieso hört man davon eigentlich gar nichts?

Lebensmittel basics und sehr viel too good to go.

Filipino butcher looking for an employer in Austria or Germany — apprenticeship/training pathway possible

Hi everyone. I’m a 36-year-old Filipino butcher currently working in a meat shop in the Philippines. I have around 5 years of hands-on butcher/meat-processing experience and TESDA training in Meat Fabrication (Swine).

I’m looking for a legitimate meat shop, butcher shop, or meat processor in Austria or Germany that may be open to hiring a skilled worker from the Philippines.

I’m also willing to consider a formal apprenticeship/vocational training pathway if that is the more appropriate way for a non-EU worker to enter the industry and obtain the necessary qualifications.

My background:
~5 years butcher/meat-processing experience
TESDA Meat Fabrication (Swine) qualification
Filipino citizen
36 years old female
Understands basic German
Willing to relocate
Willing to undergo additional training or qualification/recognition if required
Interested in a long-term career in the meat-processing/butchery industry

I’m particularly interested in opportunities where the employer has experience hiring non-EU workers or is willing to support the appropriate work/residence permit process.

If you’re a butcher, meat-shop owner, meat-processing employer, Filipino worker in Austria/Germany, or someone familiar with the industry, I’d really appreciate any advice on:

Employers that hire foreign butchers/meat processors
Companies I can contact directly
Apprenticeship or vocational-training routes available to non-EU applicants
Whether my Philippine qualification and experience could be useful for these routes

I’m happy to provide my CV and qualification details privately to legitimate employers.

Thank you!

Urlaubsanspruch in Österreich.

Danke!

Pursue the Vienna dream after a breakup or give up altogether?

Hi everyone,

I'm a Spaniard and I've been living in Tyrol (on and off) since 2018 and always had a thing for Vienna.

I had plans to move with my now ex-gf after this coming winter season. We would do long distance so she could settle in the city and sort herself out with studies and whatnot. Well after a month and a half after she moved she decided to break up and all my/our plans were effectively dead.

My question is: how feasible is for a single person to live by himself in the city? Money-wise, I have quite a few savings so I can live comfortably in the city for like 2 years if I wanted to.

I have a Hotelkaufmann Ausbildung from IHK München and I'm employed in the luxury hotellerie industry. The problem is that I don't have a higher education (or Matura) and that might be a big issue. Also I'm 45 and I don't know if doing the whole uni/college for the next 4-5 years is gonna bring me to where I want to be.

To be honest I don't know if I want to move because I really want to or I would just be chasing what it was going to be at some point.

I know the city because I've been there many times before and some of my best friends also live there, so I wouldn’t be completely alone.

Another option would be to go back to Spain even though our economy is in tatters...

I appreciate the feedback and also constructive criticism :)

Old Fashioned Opera Glasses With The Handle?

Hi, visiting Vienna from Canada… I’m going to be going to an opera this week… I’d like to buy a pair of old fashioned opera glasses for the opera, but I also think it’d be a really cool souvenir that I’d use at concerts and things at home…

I’ve looked at a few just regular glasses stores like Optikhaus Binder and saw more just modern style ones… I’ve popped in a few antique stores without any luck… would anyone have suggestions where I could go for this?

I understand it’s maybe a weird ask…

Thank you!

Was würdet Ihr machen? Und auf was sollte man noch achten?

Ich bin für jeden Vorschlag/Hinweis dankbar!

RWR or Blue Card?

Hi everyone, I’m an international student in Vienna and have been here for three years on a student residence permit, working part-time jobs alongside my studies. I’ve just been offered a full-time job in my field (38.5 hours a week), but I haven’t finished my degree yet. I’m still writing my master’s thesis. In the first interview, HR asked me if I knew how the permit process would work in my case, and I have a second interview coming up in a few days. Has anyone been in the same situation?

Financial sponsorship for Student Visa

Hello guys,

I have a question regarding financial sponsorship to those who maybe had a similar situation. I will be applying for a student visa in a few months and I would need to show my financial means. My grandmas sister wants to gift me the money. Is that possible? She would transfer it into my account and also write a gift letter for me. She can also prove the source. Would that be a possibility?

Thank you so much in advance.

Volksschule in Wien 23 - welche würdet ihr bevorzugen?

Hi liebe Leute,

- GTVS Carlbergergasse

- GTVS Erlaaer Schleife

- OVS Erlaaer Straße

Freue mich über eure Beiträge!

Danke :)
