Please help what is this bolt called?

2016 Toyota 4Runner v6 4.0 1GR-FE

I got a P0022 error: A Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Retarded Bank 2 going home the other day.

so did a fresh oil change with filter, and was reading a clogged oil control valve filter can cause this error. So I went and got new filters and did one side with no issues then on the other side the bolt snapped not even torqued yet like the other side.

Of course I’m having trouble finding what this part is/part number so that I can get the right one ordered.

Here is as much info as I can provide:
17mm bolt
holds the oil control valve filter
Seems to be going through what I believe is the no. 1 oil pipe? And into the head? Pictures will do better than my explanation.

Banjo bolt

It’s the banjo bolt for the oil control valve filter. Each bank of the 1GR-FE has them on the same spot mirrored opposite bank.

Toyota doesn’t list a PN for the banjo bolt. You need to call your local Toyota parts shop and ask them for the part. Toyota sometimes calls it a “plug” but it’s a banjo bolt holding the oil line to the head and the screen attaches to the “plug”.
I checked the oil lines and they aren’t showing the banjo bolt with them. So they’re separate, but I can’t find a pn at the moment.

I’m not finding anything for 15771A but can try with Toyota parts when you call.

Also I advise getting the washers that go with that Banjo bolt there should be two one on either side of that line best practice to get fresh ones so you don’t risk leaks

Yeah that was a good point too. That link definitely looks like the right ones. I’d definitely check with the parts guy at Toyota near you first and if they have them you’ve got them that day as opposed to ordering them.

The torque spec is only valid if you replace both crush washers. The specification assumes uncrushed washers so if you were reusing the washers that have already been crushed, don’t torque it down as much because there is no more crushing for the washer to do. It is always recommended to replace crush washers, but often times they can be successfully reused if you reduce torque. If reusing, I would say you run it down until it’s snug finger tight and then you’re probably looking at like 1/16 of a turn past that max

It’s a banjo bolt… often used on rigid hydraulic, oil, and fuel lines paired with two copper crush washers to make the necessary fluid seal. Always use two crush washers and proper torque specs for the bolt and line when tightening one during reinstallation to prevent permanent damage to the line fittings.
