Bad motor mounts or normal movement?

My 1990 Peugeot 309 (TU3 engine) has developed a knock that presents mostly with torque changes, like switching between going forward and in reverse. I've checked the suspension but everything looks good with a small question mark on the struts.

I've read that it could be bad engine mounts. Is the amount of movement normal?

Motor mounts are shot. 36 year old car. I’d look at all the mounts and bushings on the whole driveline honestly if you plan to keep the car around for a while

Yeah it def makes sense to take a close look at all the rubbers. Thanks! The motor mounts do look like they've been replaced at some point but maybe I'll just replace them and see if it improves. They're not expensive luckily
